Entry Regulations

The unit of currency is the Philippine 

peso, divided into 100 centavos. 

Timezone

Time is two hours behind Australia

Australian passport holders may enter 

the country without a visa and may

tickets for onward journey.

The Philippines has four international

America’s largest naval facility in the Pacific 

region until the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991 

led to its abandonment. The area has since 

been converted into a modern free port and 

tourism zone. 

Witness the aftermath brought by Mt. 

Pinatubo’s eruption (considered the strongest 

volcanic eruption in the last century) while 

passing through the provinces of Bulacan and 

Pampanga. Then visit a JEST Camp (Jungle 

Environmental Survival Training Camp) where 

indigenous people called Aetas demonstrate 

survival skills in a tropical rain forest. Experience

CORON 

Coron is a limestone island in the region of Palawan, and is 

famous for its crystal-clear lakes and shipwreck diving. 

At the end of World War II, the US Navy discovered a camouflaged 

fleet of Japanese war ships near Busuanga Island. Taskforce 45 

sank 24 of these ships, leaving 12 diveable wrecks. There are also 

several excellent coral dives and drop-offs to see, and a very 

unique dive site called Barracuda Lake. Here, you climb in full 

gear up to a crater and descend through the freshwater layer into 

salty water that reaches up to 39°C – it’s like diving in a spa! 

Inside the lake there are resident barracuda, trevally, groupers, 

catfish and gobies. At one end of the lake, down at around 33 

meters, lies the entrance to a cave – the source of the hot water. 

This can be explored with prior planning.

MALAPASCUA 

Malapascua is an island that lies right in the middle of

DAY 3 PAGSANJAN FALLS (B/L) 

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive south 

of Manila to Pagsanjan, Laguna 

(approximately 2 hours) on an air 

conditioned coach. The fun begins as 

you board your dugout canoes that will 

take you to the falls. “Shoot the rapids” 

with expert boatmen traversing the 

turbulent waters and trying to outdo each 

other in friendly, frenzied competition. 

Spend some time at the falls for a swim 

or a raft ride under the falls. Return to 

the resort by riding the currents of the 

rapids with your boatmen skillfully guiding 

canoe. Lunch at the resort. 

Return to Manila. If time permits, a stop 

will be made in the town of Liliw, the 

Footwear Capital of the Philippines. 



DAY 4 MANILA/PAMPANGA/ 

BAGUIO (B/D) 

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from your 

hotel for Pampanga, through the North 

Expressway. En route, stop by the town of 

BACOLOR in Pampanga. This town is among 

hundreds of towns and villages, which have 

been devastated by Mt. Pinatubo’s eruption 

in June 1993. Tour the village by jeepney 

and visit the Basilica, which is now 3/4 buried 

in Lahar. See the remaining roofs of houses 

covered by Lahar. Mt. Pinatubo’s wrath 

continues to wreak havoc on the lives of the 

villagers every year as the monsoon rains 

carry Lahar from the bowels of Mt. Pinatubo 

adding more layers of Lahar. Townsfolk have 

adapted to nature’ wrath by building houses 

on stilts which are several meters high. 

Visit Abe’s Farm at the foothills of Mt. 

Arayat. If time permits, try the local “hilot” 

or Filipino massage. Have a typical 

Kapampangan lunch. 

Proceed to Baguio, the summer capital 

of the Philippines and the gateway to the 

Cordillera, in the province of Benguet, 

1,500 kms high up in the Cordillera 

Mountains. It is approximately 4 hours 

drive through the countryside, ascending 

up through zigzagging roads of Benguet.

DAY 5 BAGUIO/SAGADA (B/D) 

Breakfast. Depart for Sagada via the 

La Trinidad Valley. Stops can be made 

at Bell Church were on request you get 

your fortune told by one of the priests. 

These scenic drive along the Halsema 

mountain highway give you breathtaking 

views of the vegetable terraces farmed 

by Benguet tribes; you will also see the 

breathtaking scenery of the tiny villages 

in the valleys down below. On to the 

Mountain Trail. 

Arrive Sagada. Explore this quaint little 

town with its towering pine trees, hanging 

coffins, subterranean caves used as 

burial grounds by the natives, eminent 

limestone cliffs and nearby scenic falls. 

Other stunning destinations are Bomodok 

and Bokong Falls, Danom Lake and 

Weaving Shops. Hike through simple trails 

which lead to some picturesque summits.

DAY 6 SAGADA/BANAUE (B/L/D) 

Breakfast. Depart 0630-0700H for Bontoc 

and drive along winding mountain trail 

onto Bontoc. Bontoc is the mountain 

province’s capital and crossroads. Visit 

the Bontoc Museum, which was founded 

by the Belgian sisters who have been 

active in the area for decades. It consists 

of four well laid out rooms featuring 

artifacts and old photos plus a group of 

traditional houses.

Afternoon, arrive at Banaue. The 

spectacle is breathtaking. Whole chains 

of mountains terraced from top to bottom 

for the cultivation of rice sculptured and 

curved from the steep mountain side by 

the Ifugaos with their bare hands and 

crude stone implements centuries ago.

DAY 7 BANAUE (B/L/D) 

Breakfast. Departure by private local 

jeepney for the tour of the rice terraces 

and its villages. Proceed to Banga an 

Village, a traditional village nestled in a 

panoramic valley of terraces. A 20 minute 

walk in a descending trail permits a closer 

look of the Ifugao world. Walk around and 

mingle with the friendly natives and visit a 

typical home to see their life ways. Stop 

at the viewpoint of the oldest rice terraces 

known as the “8th Wonder of the World” 

and estimated to be more than 2,000 

years old. On the way back to the hotel, 

visit the museum. Choice of packed 

lunch or return to the hotel for late lunch. 

For more adventurous trekkers, proceed 

to the most spectacular amphi-theater 

terraces are right in Batad, with a village 

that sits in the middle rather incongruously. 

Trek is quite arduous, with some steep 

paths. Hike to the 30meter high Tappia 

Waterfalls with lunch at Rita’s Inn.

El Nido is a municipality located at the 

northwestern tip of the province of Palawan 

in the Philippines. It is about 430 kilometers 

southwest of Manila, and about 238 

kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa, 

Palawan’s capital. El Nido is bordered by 

the Linapacan Strait in the north, the Sulu 

Sea in the east, and the South China Sea 

in the west. The Municipality of El Nido 

is composed of 18 barangays (villages) 

covering a total land area of 50,000

BOHOL 

BOHOL COUNTRYSIDE TOUR – 6-8 Hours 

En route to the Chocolate Hills, we will drive 

through the lush Mahogany Man-Made Forest 

and the green farmlands in Bilar and Batuan. 

In Bilar, visit a Butterfly Farm that showcases a 

variety of Philippine butterfly species. From a 

viewing deck on top of them, view the 

awesome cone-shaped hills known as the 

“Chocolate Hills” in the town of Carmen. 

Drive back to Loboc for a 50-minute river 

cruise along nipa-lined river on board a native 

catamaran while lunch is served on board. The 

river cruise will surely relax both your body and 

mind as you view nature’s beautiful rolling hills, 

graceful coconut trees, and green nipa-palms 

lining the riverbanks. You may even get the 

chance to see a Tarsier, one of the worlds 

smallest primates with its gentle demeanor 

and large bulbous eyes. After the cruise, the 

tour takes you back to Tagbilaran, with a brief 

stop to see the backyard industries in Loay 

(nipa weaving and knife making). 

For a different experience, the afternoon 

departure ends with a dinner on a floating 

restaurant on Loboc River. Cap the night with a 

river cruise on board a native catamaran. 

PAMILACAN MARINE LIFE TOUR: DOLPHIN 

WATCHING FROM BOHOL 6-8 HOURS 

An early morning boat trip on board a 

motorized outrigger boat brings you to the 

seawaters around Pamilacan Island, southeast 

of Tagbilaran City. The water around 

Pamilacan Island is home to at least six 

species of whales and dolphins. If you are 

lucky, pilot whales may be sighted between 

the months of February and August. 

One interesting aspect of this tour is that the 

boat crew and “spotters” for this tour are 

former whale hunters. Now specially trained, 

they gave up their traditional livelihood in favor 

of preserving the environment! 

Other activities during this tour include 

swimming and snorkeling around Pamilacan 

Island, whose coral reef lies just off-shore. There 

will also be a village tour and picnic lunch. 

Snorkeling gear is available for rent at an 

additional cost for those who haven’t brought

DANAO ADVENTURE – ZIP LINING, CAVING,

highway northwest of Taglibaran City in Bohol,

park used to be the base camp of the revered

Spanish colonists.

your tour of the Bohol Countryside. During the 

journey, pass by a variety of sights and 

landmarks such as the Blood Compact 

Monument, a manmade mahogany forest, a 

nipa palm village, the 15th Century Baclayon 

Church & Museum, and a serenely scenic 

river by the town of Loboc.

Cebu coastline. En route, you will pass

shoe-making industry, and native delicacies

Next you will drive to Argao, famous for its 400 

year-old St. Michael Archangel Church, 

before visiting the town of Dalaguete, known
