VALUES IN A SORORITY WOMAN<br />

Throughout recruitment, you will learn the values that each organization embodies. Some may be<br />

different than others, but there are quite a few core values that each organization embodies.<br />

Sist erhood<br />

Sisterhood is one of the most important parts of sorority life. At the very core of each sorority, the bonds<br />

that tie us together through sisterhood are the bonds that last a lifetime. Sisterhood is the support<br />

system that you gain when you join a sorority. Whether you have a few girlfriends to study for finals with,<br />

or someone to grab ice cream with when you've had a tough day, there will always be someone there for<br />

you. And since CU <strong>Sororities</strong> is home to 3 international organizations, you have a support system all over<br />

the world! Sisterhood is much more than friendship; it's an eternal bond that only you understand and<br />

share.<br />

Academ ia<br />

Even though sorority life is full of social and networking and sisterhood opportunities, we are all in<br />

university to gain one thing: a degree. <strong>Sororities</strong> often have study hours where sisters study for classes<br />

together, and most times you will find someone in your program! Our chapters take pride in sisters'<br />

academic achievements and encourage them to focus on their education.<br />

Service<br />

<strong>Carleton</strong> University <strong>Sororities</strong> strive to make an impact on our campus and local community. Through<br />

philanthropy and service, our organizations actively contribute to make a positive impact. Each sorority<br />

has a chairman specifically for philanthropy, and she works to make sure that her sorority follows in their<br />

founders footsteps and changes the world through service. <strong>Carleton</strong> University <strong>Sororities</strong> also has a<br />

position dedicated to running Women's Week at <strong>Carleton</strong>!<br />

Educat ion<br />

While similar to academia, education focuses on teaching women necessary stills to become young<br />

professionals. <strong>Sororities</strong> will have workshops to learn how to market themselves, how to be leaders, and<br />

how sorority life is beyond your collegian years. The things you will learn in a sorority will last a lifetime!<br />

Leadership<br />

Many of our women are involved in other organizations in leadership positions. Our chapters are<br />

constantly pushing us to obtain leadership opportunities, and will encourage sisters to apply for them.<br />

You will see the Panhellenic community in many different campus activities such as Fall Orientation,<br />

Relay for Life, and the Student Philanthropy Council! For a list of all the other organizations we're<br />
