VALUES IN A SORORITY WOMAN
Throughout recruitment, you will learn the values that each organization embodies. Some may be
different than others, but there are quite a few core values that each organization embodies.
Sist erhood
Sisterhood is one of the most important parts of sorority life. At the very core of each sorority, the bonds
that tie us together through sisterhood are the bonds that last a lifetime. Sisterhood is the support
system that you gain when you join a sorority. Whether you have a few girlfriends to study for finals with,
or someone to grab ice cream with when you've had a tough day, there will always be someone there for
you. And since CU Sororities is home to 3 international organizations, you have a support system all over
the world! Sisterhood is much more than friendship; it's an eternal bond that only you understand and
share.
Academ ia
Even though sorority life is full of social and networking and sisterhood opportunities, we are all in
university to gain one thing: a degree. Sororities often have study hours where sisters study for classes
together, and most times you will find someone in your program! Our chapters take pride in sisters'
academic achievements and encourage them to focus on their education.
Service
Carleton University Sororities strive to make an impact on our campus and local community. Through
philanthropy and service, our organizations actively contribute to make a positive impact. Each sorority
has a chairman specifically for philanthropy, and she works to make sure that her sorority follows in their
founders footsteps and changes the world through service. Carleton University Sororities also has a
position dedicated to running Women's Week at Carleton!
Educat ion
While similar to academia, education focuses on teaching women necessary stills to become young
professionals. Sororities will have workshops to learn how to market themselves, how to be leaders, and
how sorority life is beyond your collegian years. The things you will learn in a sorority will last a lifetime!
Leadership
Many of our women are involved in other organizations in leadership positions. Our chapters are
constantly pushing us to obtain leadership opportunities, and will encourage sisters to apply for them.
You will see the Panhellenic community in many different campus activities such as Fall Orientation,
Relay for Life, and the Student Philanthropy Council! For a list of all the other organizations we're
involved with, just look at the next page!
