You probably imagine a sea of actors, camera crews, screaming fans, and every once in a while you catch a glimpse of the security men and women. Often behind the scenes but always present, security details see everything that happens and sometimes prevents accidents from happening. Security teams may seem like a part of the privileged lifestyle, but Guardians of Southwest Louisiana (GSWLA) is proving that you can have a part of the sweet life in small-town America. GSWLA CEO, Mary Dixon, and her team have always believed they have a purpose and responsibility to help others. Dixon says, “We wanted to provide a service to the community, and as we realized that our talents expanded beyond the traditional route we actually thought about operating as a private detective agency.” As the team watched the community continue to grow and receive an influx of guests and residents, GSWLA put down their investigation hats and focused their energy on bringing something new to the community. With more than 45 years of combined law enforcement, security, and military experience, GSWLA offers licensed and trained security guards for private, commercial, and public events. “Expanding our role to be a security guard firm allows us to bring a new way of doing things to this area” says Dixon, “We did our research, gained all the proper licenses, insurance, and we train to make sure our clients know that we want to protect what they value.” Clients can choose to have an armed or unarmed security presence at their event, and GSWLA takes pride in matching a security person with every venue to guarantee the utmost safety. “We are proactive in our security. We remain visible, assertive, and we have great respect for our law enforcement officers if the need arises for them to be involved.” The GSWLA team are all state certified and have a diverse background in providing safety to others.
