What inspired this<br />
unique updo?<br />
We wanted to do<br />
something edgy to<br />
show off the neckline<br />
of the dress. Gwen<br />
Stefani and Kate’s<br />
sister Rooney were<br />
our references.<br />
How did you get<br />
her hair so smooth?<br />
I used a flatiron<br />
because if there are<br />
bumps when you pull<br />
it back, and it’s not<br />
supertight and sleek,<br />
it kind of ruins the<br />
whole look.<br />
The visible elastics<br />
are a cool touch.<br />
I felt like if I covered<br />
them up, it would<br />
lose the edge.<br />
What did Kate say?<br />
She texted me that<br />
night that she was so<br />
happy! I love that she<br />
li kes to do something<br />
different, not just<br />

gorgeous berry look.<br />
I love doing cranberries<br />
and plums on her. They<br />
look so good on her skin<br />
tone. The trick is<br />
balance: I did a bold<br />
matte lip, then I went<br />
softer on the color for<br />
her eyes and cheeks.<br />
Her skin looks<br />
amazing too.<br />
I actually don’t go that<br />
heavy-handed on the<br />
foundation. I pat a little<br />
on with a damp sponge.<br />
I also love to highlight<br />
her cheekbones by<br />
sculpting them with<br />
blush, not bronzer.<br />
Is she a makeup lover?<br />
I’ve worked with her for<br />
12 years, and she doesn’t<br />
sit and stare in the<br />
mirror for a long time,<br />
let’s put it that way! But<br />
we’ve become very<br />
playful in highlighting<br />
her different features,<br />
which I really love.<br />
