Read - Isaiah 7:10-16
• Many situations in life have the potential to cripple us with fear. The Bible says that the hearts of King Ahaz (king of
Judah) and his people "were moved (shook) as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind" (Isaiah 7:2b) in fear
of impending attack.
• What fears an I currently facing?
Isaiah 7:10-12
• God pursued Ahaz in his fear. He offered Ahaz the chance to ask God for a sign to prove God's
commitment and power. Although Ahaz's response ("I will not ask nor will I test the Lord!")
appeared to be one of reverence, it was actually his denial of God's help and refusal to trust in
the prophecy concerning Assyria's invasion of Judah became a reality, the leaders of Judah chose again to look to a
surrounding nation (Egypt) for help rather than God. Again, God said that relying on anything or anyone other than
Himself would only bring Judah shame.
Isaiah 30:8
• Why do you think God wanted Isaiah to write down this message? (You've again chosen to trust in someone other
than Me, and again your plans and alliances will fail.)?
"Faith is a living, daring
confidence in God's grace,
so sure and certain that a
man could stake his life on
it a thousand times."
- Martin Luther
Isaiah 30:9-11
•How did God describe Judah's response to truth?
•Which voices do I seek?
Those that use lies to make me feel good
Those that speak God's truth
•Who do I know (friend or mentor) that I can ask to speak truth into my life?
Isaiah 30:15-16
• Re-read verse 15 and fill in the blanks to better understand what God wanted from Judah and Judah's choice.
"For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
'In and you shall be saved;
In and shall your .' But you ."
• Who or what am I choosing to rely on instead of trusting in the character and promises of God?
• Pray and ask God for the faith to trust in Him alone.
Isaiah 30:18
• How did Isaiah describe God's character?

God's people during the Millennium.
1. 2.
3. 4.
• How do these descriptions contrast with the world today?
"So our anchor - our
promised future - is
sure; it is steadfast;
and it is the finished
and purchased work
of Jesus our High
Priest."
- John Piper

Read - Isaiah 33:5-6, 15-22
• Since the beginning of time, man has chosen, in pride, to believe Satan's lies that suggest, "I can rule my own life. I
don't have to do things God's way." And, from the beginning, man has had to face the harsh consequences of this
decision.
• Can I think of an example of this in my own life? Yes No
Isaiah 33:5-6
• God used Assyria to punish His children, and now, God would judge Assyria for the sinful impulses that caused them
to attack Israel. Having described this judgement, Isaiah offered praise to God for His exalted position above all
creation and His spiritual provisions for His people (Zion).
• Do I recognize God's exalted position over my own life? Yes No
• Do I recognize God's exalted position over my enemies (anyone or anything who might bring me harm)?
and knowledge?
• Which phrase best describes my approach to life?
I just live the way I want
I try to live a good life based on a variety of influences: (friends, work, media, etc.)
"The thief (Satan)
does not come except
to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy. I
(Jesus) have come
that they may have
life, and that they
may have it more
abundantly."
- John 10:10
Isaiah 33:15-22
I rely on God and His Word to guide the way I live
•In verses 16-22, Isaiah described the blessings that will come to those who, by faith choose to
live life God's way.
•Re-read verse 15. Which of these descriptions of life lived God's way challenges me the most,
and how can I apply it today?
Friday, July 21st
Read - Isaiah 35:1-10
• This week we've looked at many verses explaining what life will be like during the Millennium (a period of 1,000
years when Christ will reign on this earth). Today's entire chapter is dedicated to further description of this time.
What do I know/recall about the Millennium?
Isaiah 35:1-2
victory over His (and their) enemies, and He will provide complete salvation for His
people. This world, as we know it, is not the end!
• Who do I know that needs to be encouraged or strengthened by these truths?
Isaiah 35:10
• The ransomed of the Lord (those Christ delivers from sin) will go to Zion (Jerusalem - the
future city of God) with everlasting joy and without any sorrow or sadness.
• Describe a time in your life that you've been especially joyful.
"Our joyful hopes and
prospects of eternal
life should swallow
all the sorrows and
the joys of this
present time."
- Matthew Henry
• How long did this joy last before it was interrupted?
• Matthew Henry wrote, "When they shall enter into the joy of their Lord, it shall be what the joys of this world never
could be: everlasting joy, without mixture, interruption or period."
Reflect on this concept of everlasting joy.

Read - Amos 1:1-2; 3:1-7
• Amos was not a significant person and his job was not significant in society, yet God used him to speak to the
empowered him to do.
Amos 1:1-2
• How did it make me feel?
• Have I ever been given a second chance? Yes No......and still messed up? Yes No
Sunday, July 23rd
Read - Amos 4:1-13
• Today we see God working in His people, trying to get their attention. He tried blessing them, He tried disciplining
them, but they still would not listen. People were lazy and expected to have everything they wanted. They played
religion like it was a game.
Amos 4:1-5
• God has blessed me with:
• God has blessed my nation with:
• What things have I taken for granted in life?
• In what ways have I just "played church"?
Amos 4:6-12
• What things has God done in my life to get my attention?
• What things has God done to get the attention of my nation?
"To be loved by
God is the highest
relationship, the
highest
achievement, and
the highest
position in life."
- Henry Blackaby
Amos 4:13
• This verse reminds us of Who God is: the Almighty Creator Who wants to connect with us.
(Fill in the blanks)
"He Who mountains and the wind, Who
to man what His thought is, and
the morning darkness, Who
the high places (heights) of the earth."
Monday, July 24th
Read - Amos 5:4-15
• In these verses we see the Lord talking about the social injustice going on at that time. Businesses and the courts
were corrupt. There were rich people who were robbing and oppressing the poor and needy instead of helping
them. God calls them to change their ways.
Amos 5:4-6; 14-15
• In order to have my life needs met, I need to:
Seek what I need from the Lord
Take what I want from others
"Simply 'raising
awareness' is not
helping people.
Helping people is
helping people."
- Jason Skeffington
Amos 5:8-9
•Do I believe that the one true God, Who made the universe and created the ecosystem, cares about
my needs and the needs of the poor? Yes No Not totally sure
Amos 5:10-13
•How do I react when someone corrects me for doing wrong?
•What do I do when I see someone less fortunate than me?
Help them
Ignore them
Wish I could help them
Tell someone else they should help them
• Someone in need I know and should help is:
• I will talk with a trusted adult to formulate a plan to help this person. Yes No
• Look it up - Micah 6:8
"He has shown you. O man, what is
; and what does the LORD require of you but to do (act)
, to love , and to walk with your God?"

Read - Amos 5:16-27
• Among many other things, the "Day of the Lord" is a day when God rights all wrongs and brings justice.
Amos 5:16-20
• Those who were oppressing the poor desired for the Day of the Lord to come, but they did not realize justice would
be brought upon them also, not just their enemies.
• Have I ever looked at the sin of someone else and desired justice be brought upon them?
Yes No I am embarrassed to answer
• What is an area in my life where I would be afraid of God bringing justice?
• Prayer: Take a moment to thank God for His Grace and Mercy on me.
Amos 5:21-25
• God uses a strong word: hate. God hated the empty worship and the lack of authenticity in
their lives.
• Are there times when my worship is empty or when I am going through the motions in my
Christian life?
Not really; I'm really focused on keeping Him first
More times then not I feel like a robot without any feelings
Sometimes, but I continue to praise and trust Him even when I don't feel like it.
We must never
forget that true
Christianity is
more than teaching
- it is a way of life.
In fact, it is life
itself."
- Ray C. Stedman
• What does God desire from me today in my worship and living?
Wednesday, July 26th
Read - Amos 8:1-12
turn around. God always keeps His word.
Amos 8:1-3
• For all those living well at the expense of the poor, God declared He would bring an end to them.
• What did God say He would do to bring justice? (Check all that apply)
Stop coming by
Turn their singing to wailing/howling
Make it so their dead bodies are piled up all over the place
Shut them up
• Does God's justice system seem extreme to me? Yes No Maybe Not sure
• I understand how serious sin is to God. True False
4:4
that proceeds from the mouth of
.'" Matthew

Read - Amos 9:8-15
• While God is a God of justice, He is also a God of Grace and Mercy. At the conclusion of this prophecy, He at first
described utter destruction, then later a beautiful restoration of Israel. The restoration of Israel will be far greater
than the short-lived prosperity that they were experiencing.
Amos 9:8-10
• Do I think any sin goes unnoticed by God? Yes No Sometimes
• This is a sin of mine that I have pretended goes unnoticed by God:
• Do I believe God deals with sin? Yes No Sometimes
• One way God has dealt with my sin is:
• Do people sometimes think they can get away with abusing others? Yes No
• According to verse 10, what overtakes people who abuse others?
Amos 9:11-15
• Sin is the cause of destruction, but even in the face of utter destruction, God can rebuild what is
broken.
• I believe God can restore me when I am broken. True False
• I believe God keeps His promises. True False
• One of His promises that He has kept to me is:
Doing things
God's way is
better than
doing things
my way
• I believe what God provides in His way is better than what I can provide in my way. True False
• What things in my life have I been doing my way that I need to be doing God's way?
Friday, July 28th
Read - Psalms 53:1-6
Psalms 53:1
• "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.'"
• When someone tells me there is no God my first instinct is to:
Get angry with them and walk away
Get angry and argue with them
Use God's Word to show them that they are wrong
Pray for them and feel sorry that they are misled
• What good approach should I use to talk to someone that I know who does not believe in God?
"The fool has said
in his heart, 'There
is no God'"
- Psalms 53:1
I'm not sure; I'll ask my pastor or another trusted leader/adult.
•I recall a conversation I once had with someone who didn't believe in God. IfI could do it
over again, I would change this one thing:
•I know that I have a relationship with God, but when someone else does not, I feel:
Responsible to fix them and make them believe in God
Disappointment for them since they don't know what they are missing out on
Indifferent...it simply does not affect me when someone else does not believe in God
• Is there anything about my life that someone would see and instantly know that I have a relationship with God?
Yes
• If so, what is it?
• If not, why not?
No
• I will talk with a trusted leader/friend about my need to have a relationship with God. Yes No
• One person that does not believe in God that I will commit to pray for everyday:
• I'll take a minute right now, look around, and recognize at least three things that I can only attribute to God being
active in my life.

Read - Psalms 54:1-7
• David was being chased by Saul and had just been turned in by people that he thought he could trust.
Psalms 54:1
• A time that I was wrongly accused was:
• How did I respond? A. Retaliation B. Anger C. Prayer
• What made it so difficult was:
• How should I have responded?
• What may have happened if I took it to God first instead of reacting the way that I did?
Psalms 54:3
• These strangers had not set God before them. When I encounter people who do not use God
and His ways as a measuring stick, I:
Have a free pass to treat them as I wish because they have no respect for God
Should work extra hard to stay godly, even though they don't care, because this
may be the only time someone represents God to them
Feel indifferent. I treat everyone the same
I am thankful to
God for His
provision, even
before I see it.
Psalms 54:4
• Has there been a time when I can honestly say that God was the upholder of my life?
Psalms 54:6-7
Yes
No
• David was in the middle of being hunted by Saul. He was asking God to protect him, and in his belief that God
would deliver, David made an offering to God for the way God always provided for him.
• What can I do as a freewill offering to God to thank Him for His provisions for me?
Sunday, July 30th
Read - Psalms 55:1-14
Psalms 55:1-2
• Am I restless when I don't feel like God is answering me?
Psalms 55:6-7
Yes, I struggle with being patient
No, I have learned to wait on the Lord
I tend to wait only a short time for God to answer and then take matters into my own hands
• David said he wished he had wings to fly to the wilderness to find rest. God used the wilderness through Scripture as
a place where people would find spiritual regrouping. Sometimes we all need the wilderness for a little spiritual
regrouping. When I find myself in need of spiritual regrouping, I
Sometimes we all
need the
wilderness to
spiritually
regroup.
Psalms 55:12
•Here, David was referring to his trusted friend Ahithophel who left David to serve his son Absalom
against David (2 Samuel 15).
•It is one thing to be betrayed by people I do now know or trust, but it hurts much more when it is a
close, trusted friend.
•I was hurt most when my trusted friend
many steps.
betrayed me. Getting over a betrayal takes
• Today I need to take this next step (Circle one):
A. Let go of bitterness that I have been holding toward that friend
B. Choose to forgive them
C. Contact them, let them know I was hurt by them, and that I have chosen to forgive them
D. Begin to restore a relationship with them
• I will spend time today praying for that person that betrayed me. I will not be praying for God's judgement on them
though; I will be praying for God's blessings. Yes, I will do this
Monday, July 31st
Read - Psalms 55:15-23
Psalms 55:17
• David spoke to God in the morning, noon, and evening. When do I find that I can most consistently spend time with
God?
• Something I once prayed about non-stop (morning, noon, and evening) and saw God answer was:
• Sometimes I need intense prayer, and other times I can look around for friends and acquaintances that are in a time
of intense need for prayer.
Today I will contact
• Someone who often covers me in prayer when I need it is
• Today I will send them a note to thank them for being there for me.
Psalms 55:21
• What word picture do I see here?
• What are my words like?
Psalms 55:22
• Two burdens that I would like to cast on the Lord today are:
and commit to praying for them specifically.
"Cast your
burden on the
Lord, and He
shall sustain
you."
- Psalms 55:22
