that embezzled $240,000 dollars from the church. Most people<br />

without permission or legal right and without intending to return<br />
it. God told His people Israel in the eighth (8th) commandment “Thou shalt not steal”. According<br />
to research there are many that do steal, I myself have been stolen from many times. I don’t like<br />
thieves and God evidently does not like thieves. In Malachi 3:8 The Lord asks the question, “Will<br />
a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and<br />
offerings”. Today I want us to focus on Malachi 3:8 and see what happens when we withhold our<br />
giving to God. When we withhold our giving we;<br />
I.ROB GOD; Malachi 3:8: Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein<br />
have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.<br />
A. The Command of God to Israel; Leviticus 27:30: And all the tithe of the land, whether of<br />
the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.<br />
B. The Claim of God; Malachi 3:8 “Ye have robbed me” Noah Webster 1828 says to rob in<br />
this case is to withhold that which is due.<br />
1. It all belongs to God anyway; Exodus 19:5: Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed,<br />
and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the<br />
earth is mine: Psalms.24:1: The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and<br />
they that dwell therein. Psalms 89:11.· The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the<br />
world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.<br />
C. The Criticism of God; Malachi 3:8-b; “But ye say, Wherein have we<br />
robbed thee? In tithes and offerings” *see Proverbs 3:9: Honour the LORD with thy substance,<br />
and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:<br />
“WELL, I CAN THINK OF ONE GOOD<br />
REASON TO BE HAPPY WHEN<br />
SUMMER WILL BE OVER!”<br />
II. THE CHURCH; Malachi :10-a: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may<br />
be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open<br />
you the windows of heaven, and pour you out<br />
a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.<br />
A. The Call of God; Malachi 3:10-a (*above) In II Chronicles 31:10: we find the response<br />
of the priest to Hezekiah after the people had given to God at the house of God; (“And Azariah<br />
the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people began to bring<br />
the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: for<br />
the LORD hath blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.”)<br />

What is a miracle? And who<br />
decides what a miracle is? Is<br />
there some special committee<br />
that looks at various events in<br />
history and clas- sifies them as<br />
being a miracle or an ordinary<br />
event? Or can two people look<br />
at the same event and one say,<br />
“This is indeed a miracle!” and<br />
the other say, “Nothing amazing<br />
here. It just happened to end<br />
up this way. That’s the way life<br />
works.”<br />
Our Psalmist looked around<br />
and said, “You are the God who<br />
performs miracles; You display<br />
Your powers among the<br />
peoples.”<br />
There is a beautiful theme in this<br />
Psalm. In the first several verses<br />
the writer seems to be having a<br />
difficult time seeing God. Then,<br />
suddenly, God’s Spirit jarred<br />
his thinking and brought God’s<br />
grace to his attention. When he<br />
finally puts things into con- text,<br />
he recalled that it was God who<br />
controls everything and it was<br />
his God who was the One who<br />
parted the waters and led the<br />
Israelites to safety. Those who<br />
were drown and destroyed by<br />
the “mighty waters” could not<br />
see their “misfortune” as God<br />
performing a miracle. But those<br />
whom He saved did!<br />
And so it is today. Those who<br />
have been redeemed by the<br />
love, mercy and grace of God<br />
see His miracles in their lives<br />
every day. When we pray, He<br />
answers. If we become sick, He<br />
heals. When we need forgiveness,<br />
He alone can remove our<br />
guilt. When others abandon<br />
us, He is a friend who stands<br />
beside us. When we grieve, He<br />
comforts us. When we are<br />
stressed, He calms our heart.<br />
When we have nothing, He<br />
meets our needs. Our God<br />
performs<br />
miracles.<br />

1/2 cup mayonnaise<br />
1 teaspoon prepared yellow<br />
mustard<br />
1/4 cup chopped green<br />
onion<br />
salt and pepper to taste<br />
1/4 teaspoon paprika<br />
Egg Salad Sandwiches<br />

Instructions<br />
Place egg in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately<br />
remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove<br />
from hot water, cool, peel and chop.<br />
Place the chopped eggs in a bowl, and stir in the mayonnaise, mustard and green onion.<br />
Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Stir and serve on bread.<br />
