This is Clyde.
He is a 3 year old guinea pig looking for a home,
along with his new wife Bonnie (ginger female
short haired)
Clyde came into rescue as an unwanted pet. He
had been bought as a child's present and the child
ignored him along with the rest of the family.
His cage became more and more filthy as no one
cleaned him out. In the end the environment he
was living in was so filthy that he had no choice
but to sleep in his own urine and faeces.
When he got to us he was extremely malnourished,
underweight, dehydrated and on death's
door.
I had to feed him every 2 hours throughout the
day and night to keep food going through his
system and to stop him getting a condition called
Gut Stasis which is where the guts stop working.
He was so weak that he could barely hold his
head up and didn't even have the energy to chew
food into pieces to eat.
Clyde is a fighter though and over the next two
weeks he gained strength and very slowly gained
weight and soon enough he was strong enough to
be neutered so that he could be paired.
But we had no girls!
That was until we got a call from a vets in London
who had a 2 year old female guinea pig handed in
by her owner to be euthanised because he had
dropped her and she had fractured her leg. He
didn't want to medicate her with pain killers whilst
it healed and found it easier to have her put to
sleep.
Instead of that she came here to recover and
when her leg had healed, was introduced to
Clyde.
Bonnie & Clyde are now looking for a home.
Currently they live indoors. This is the safest
option as this area has a large fox population.
There is an adoption fee to pay and the new
owners must be prepared to show us the set up
they have.
GIVE A DOG A HOME!
This month, Animal Protection Trust is looking for a loving home
for little Brillo, a very cute five-year-old Chihuahua-X. Brillo loves
cuddles, enjoys walks and would fit in a home with a female dog.
He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you can
offer Brillo a home and give him the care he needs, please call
Jacqueline on 01293 782356.
Animal Protection Trust is a registered charity, formed in 1984.
All the work carried out by the Trust
is voluntary – no-one is paid. Volunteers come from all walks of
life but have one thing in common – the desire to help animals in
need. The charity does not charge for its services or its animals
and continues to be supported by public donations.
