Corpuz Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent Malabon Elementary School has shown a number of improvements in different areas such as: science laboratory, ICT laboratory and new school facilities and buildings. Through the effort of the present principal, the school receives numerous recognitions from different competitions. The different awards that the school receives only reflects the intelligence and credibility of MES educators. There is no doubt that MES has marked its integrity. It has become competitive, and known to a lot of people, not only Malabon I District but also in other districts of Malabon. MES performs to make its students productive and effective in the future. The school has the capacity to establish integrity and excellence. Nevertheless, the school PenDiscussion Jayson B. Flores Teachers vs. Students Mean. Strict. High-pitched voice. These are the words, which usually linger first in our minds when we hear the word TEACHER. Teachers? Who are they? What is the purpose of their existence in our lives? Student like me commonly think that teachers are hindrances to enjoying teenage life. They give loads of assignments, projects, and recitations. In other words, they give us burden.. They watch every single move we make at school. acknowledge the need to continue improving to be able to provide quality education to its learners. A lot of things still to be accomplished. It is only right to congratulate and thank MES teaching force and non teaching personnel and of course, the principal, Mrs. Riza G. Andrade who gave her full support to the school. We hate the way they discipline us, since they are not our parents. And what really makes us sick is their daily sermon towards our behavior, grades, and blah,blah, blah. Yes, we don’t realize that our parents gave the responsibility to our teachers to teach us the knowledge and skills and values we need to learn. Hence, they share their experiences which lessons can help us for the rest of our lives. They provide assistance to our parents as we go on with our own journey in life. As STUDENTS, we must continue on page 5

Lamamigo It has been a routine for MES to conduct School Learning Action Cell (SLAC) every month. For that reason, many comments and reactions can be heard from teachers. To be honest, I once thought that SLAC is just a waste of time, and is nonsense. However, this belief has eventually changed when I realized the real purpose of SLAC. I have learned that SLAC is the good time to get along and become more familiar with colleagues. Attending SLAC is for teacher’s own good and there’s nothing wrong with it. In the first place, a teacher is bound Caption describing to learn picture new things as they impart or graphic. learnings and value of education to their students. So, teachers have to open their eyes to improve the standards of the academe. It will happen if they apply all the things learn from the discussion during the SLAC onto their classroom practices. For me, the real purpose of SLAC, is CHANGE. That’s the reason the principal always gives her administrative notes/reminders and words to from page 4...Teachers vs. Students appreciate the sacrifices and efforts our teachers make. We should thank them for being our second parents in school. Problems arising between teachers and students should not be blamed on either side. All we have to do is to understand that all of us are not perfect to fulfill each other’s standards, and we cannot please everybody. Perhaps, some teachers are really mean, but no matter how mean they are we must not forget that they are still our teachers who deserve our due respect. Special thanks to Ms. April S. Acorda ponder. Teachers need to realize the importance of attending SLAC. Teachers are bound to their position and role in the society . They may hopefully see the value of SLAC which is to become effective educators and contribute positive change. Henceforth, I would like to share to my fellow teachers the verse from Job 34:4 “ Let us discern for ourselves what is right; Let us learn together what is good.” Improve Your Study Habits If you think you are not smart enough to make it to the honor roll, don’t despair. I’d like to share the study techniques that I have read and used ,which prove to be effective and useful. DURING CLASS Leisel J. Soon Listen to the teacher. Don’t let anybody distract you when you are sitting in class. Take down notes. Write down the important or key points the teacher is emphasizing. Participate in class discussion. Teachers appreciate students who participate in class. Ask questions if you don’t understand. This will give the teacher an idea on what to emphasize. Continue on page 10
