Inform and Inspire
Health & Wellness
In our ever evolving world of Hospitality,
Leisure & Entertainment it is important that
we are familiar with, and stay ahead of, Local
and International trends so that we continue to
lead the industry and remain relevant.
Wellness is described as a state of complete
physical, mental, and social well-being. It
emphasizes the proactive maintenance and
improvement of health and well-being that
extends from reactive to proactive approaches
to health, incorporating attitudes and
activities that prevent disease, improve health,
enhance quality of life, and bring a person to
increasingly optimum levels of well-being.
Wellness is now a 3.4 trillion dollar global
industry and is over 3 times larger than the
worldwide pharmaceutical industry.
We have an opportunity to embrace the Health
and Wellness movement and provide our
communities with spaces that reflect their
aspirations for living a healthy lifestyle.
About the Session
The format of this Session will be a Panel
comprising of Health & Wellness experts
who will give their insights into this exciting
industry.
There will be opportunities for attendees to
ask questions of each of our panel members.
Did you know?
►►
Obesity and health
concerns are becoming
huge issues for all western
countries, and all companies in
the Wellness category are seeing
massive growth.
►►
There is a shift in consumer attitudes
toward taking personal responsibility for
individual health. Aging, the rise in lifestyle
diseases, and the failure of the conventional
medical system to pre-empt and treat
chronic conditions are driving many
consumers toward wellness and preventive
services to maintain and improve their
health.
►►
Global wellness tourism revenues grew
from $494.1 billion in 2013 to $563.2 billion
in 2015 – or 14%. A growth rate more
than twice as fast as overall tourism
expenditures (6.9%).
►►
The global wellness real estate
market was one of the fastest-growing
wellness sectors from 2013-2015:
growing 19% from $100 billion to
$118.6 billion
Panel
Speakers
DR SAM PRINCE | Founder at Zambrero, Entrepreneur,
Humanitarian, Philantropist, Medical Doctor
Sam Prince’s career has been centralised around the protection of the human rights
of education and welfare. Sam lives by a motto his mother gave him: “Expand your life
to the limits of your mind and expand your mind to the limits of your life.”
He started his first business, Zambrero, whilst in medical school at the age of 21.
Zambrero has a partnership with Stop Hunger Now and has provided over 10 million
high protein meals with the aim to eliminate hunger.
Sam also established One Disease, a not-for-profit organisation, which aims to
eliminate disease from remote Indigenous communities, one disease at a time. He is
channeling all of his experience both in medicine and retailing to create a
revolutionary way to provide healthcare to Australians and beyond.
ALISON COTTON | Designer & Creative Director, First Base
Living and working in Bondi in late 2013, founder and designer Alison Cotton, decided
to create something that was ultimately about getting down to the bones, about
stripping away all of the things in life that seemed unnecessary and truly getting
back to basics. The idea was to take her love of surf and sports culture and develop
something that was clean, simple and ultimately iconic, just like Bondi beach.
True. Understated. Slick. That classic white tee that goes with everything, those
leggings that keep everything where you want it and that hoodie to take you from your
workout to brunch. And just like that, first base was born. The ultimate sports lifestyle
brand.
Alison plans to open a retail business in Westfield Bondi later this month.
JOSHUA SPARKS | Founder & CEO, Thr1ve
Josh has spent the past 14 years in high growth leadership roles as CEO of Sass &
Bide, Managing Director with Urban Outfitters Inc, and CEO of Thom Browne New
York. As a lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, and with five years of powerfully
personal experience with ancestral health protocols, Josh was consistently
astounded at the lack of any authentically healthy dining in top retail centres around
the world. Recognising the transformational potential for a health and wellness
brand founded on evidence based dietary principles, and excited by the opportunity to
genuinely enhance how customers look, feel and perform, Josh brought together his
many years of professional experience and personal passion to create THR1VE.
