Info: liveiconic.com CHALK THE WALK WITH DAVID ZINN Located on Liberty and Fifth Ave - Recognized globally for his clever and improvised chalk street art, Ann Arbor’s own David Zinn will be creating his original temporary work at Liberty and 5th Avenue. You can watch him work live on Thursday, July 20 and Sunday, July 23 from 1pm to 3pm. Sidewalk chalk will be available for the duration of the show so that you can leave your own creative mark on the Ann Arbor Art Fair. DEMONSTRATIONS DEMO ZONE | ■ ANN ARBOR STREET ART FAIR, THE ORIGINAL Take a glance into the creative process while our artists demonstrate how they develop their unique works of art. The Art Demo Zone is located under the big maples on N. University near Hill Auditorium. THURSDAY, JULY 20 11 a.m. Cali Hobgood: Photography Cali will be demonstrating the technique of hand-coloring black and white photographs. Visitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at it as well. Noon Potters Guild: Wheel Thrown Ceramics Watch as Guild members demonstrate various techniques for throwing clay. 1 p.m. Jeremy Shires: Painting Express through your brush! Observe Jeremy guide bold layers of paint into a colorful modern landscape. 2 p.m. Wilbur Quispe & Melanie Ebertz: Fiber Watch master weaver Wilber Quispe’s hands dance across the loom, creating intricate tapestry showing his knowledge of Andean culture & tradition. 3 p.m. Isabella Comai: Ceramics Learn the decorating technique called Sgraffito as Isabella designs a serving dish. 4 p.m. Katie Koening: Painting You can almost taste it! See how value and color temperature can make a food painting appear realistic. 5 p.m. Cliff Lounsbury: Wood Lathe turning for functional objects. Cliff will take requests from the crowd! 6 p.m. Jose Luis Aguirre: Painting Observe well-known mural painter, Diske Uno, in action. 7 p.m. Potters Guild: Wheel Thrown Ceramics Watch as Guild members demonstrate various techniques for throwing clay. FRIDAY, JULY 21 11 a.m. Potters Guild: Wheel Thrown Ceramics Watch as Guild members demonstrate various techniques for throwing clay. Noon Amy Lansburg: 3D Mixed Media Driftwood extends far beyond the shores of Lake Superior. Hear adventure stories and learn how to make magnificent 3D sculptures with simple tools. 1 p.m. Nancy Gardner & Burton Isenstein: Ceramics Witness the beauty of hand-built ceramics. 2 p.m. Megan Foldenauer: Painting Explore miniature, detailed watercolors with Megan. Hedy will be demonstrating how she uses the bubble glazing technique to imitate marble 6 p.m. Jay Canterbury: Photography A short walk with Jay will help you spot photographable images in everyday life. Noon Rick Phillips: Painting Demonstrating the core of classical style painting. 1 p.m. Meghan Patrice Riley: Jewelry Watch two-dimensional line drawings be transformed from steel cable to sculptural jewelry. 2 p.m. Amy Arnold: Wood Figures are revealed as the layers of wood shed away. You don’t want to miss it! 3 p.m. Margaret Miller: Ceramics Layered paper stencils and colored slips are used to decorate terra cotta. 4 p.m. Gabriel Craig: Metal Utilizing the traditional hammer chasing technique, metalsmith Gabriel Craig will create a brass coaster featuring a mandala design. 5 p.m. Jay Canterbury: Photography A short walk with Jay will help you spot photographable images in everyday life.
