Paso Robles Mayor<br />

I see a bright future<br />

for San Luis Obispo<br />

County. It is a future<br />

where our water is managed fairly and responsibly,<br />

where local people can get local jobs, where<br />

economic development is valued, where we ensure<br />

a healthy environment for all, where we improve<br />

and maintain our infrastructure and where civil discourse<br />

replaces partisan bickering.<br />

I grew up in the North County and am a 43-<br />

year resident of Paso Robles. My wife, Jennifer, and<br />

I raised our family here. I served on the Paso Robles<br />

City Council from 1987 to 1996 and as Mayor from<br />

1988 to 1990. I was elected again to the Paso Robles<br />

City Council in 2012 with the largest number of<br />

votes and then ran unopposed for Mayor in 2014.<br />

I have focused on maintaining and enhancing the<br />

city’s water resources, restoring and improving local<br />

government services and bringing head of household<br />

jobs to the community and the North County.<br />

I have also been active in many local organizations<br />

over the years including the Economic Vitality<br />

Corporation, Homeless Services Oversight Committee,<br />

CAPSLO, ECHO, and the SLO County<br />

Regional Transit Authority. I have participated<br />

in Kiwanis, Optimists, Rotary and the American<br />

Cancer Society, The Link and the Symphony of the<br />

Vines to name just a few. I have worked with many<br />

groups and individuals on projects such as Sunset<br />

Savor the Central Coast, Cycle de Mayo, RISE<br />

Women’s Service fundraisers and the establishment<br />

of the first Mayor’s Fundraiser to help fund the<br />

re-opening of Paso Robles’ Centennial Pool.<br />

I have also served communities beyond Paso<br />

Robles. I was the Executive Director of the<br />

Atascadero Main Street Association from 2002 to<br />

2012. During that time I helped that community<br />

define and improve its downtown business district<br />

utilizing the four-pronged Main Street approach:<br />

Organization, Design, Economic Restructuring<br />

and Promotion. I assisted that city with tourism<br />

development and was the Atascadero Chamber’s<br />

Community Volunteer of the Year in 2007. Opportunities<br />

to participate in the two cities and at the<br />

County level have given me unique perspectives on<br />

how communities can and should work together.<br />

My endorsements are broad-based, including:<br />

Dee Lacey (Community Leader): “I am supporting<br />

Steve Martin…because he is an experienced<br />

leader… good listener… problem-solver and a consensus-builder.<br />

He understands the issues that the<br />

North County is facing and will work for all of us.”<br />

Gere Sibbach (SLO County Auditor-Controller,<br />

ret.): “…he will be an effective, informed and<br />

fair representative… he has a record of conservative<br />

budget management.”<br />

Tom O’Malley (Mayor, Atascadero): “I strongly<br />

support Steve for 1st District Supervisor and believe<br />

he is the best candidate to get the job done.”<br />

William Monning (California State Senator):<br />

“Steve’s track record of bipartisan problem solving<br />

and coalition building will serve the North County<br />

Community well.”<br />

I am running for the Board of Supervisors to<br />

bring my skills and track record of bipartisan problem-solving<br />

and coalition-building to address the<br />

important regional issues we now face. I will work<br />

for the fair and responsible management of water<br />

supplies county-wide. I will support a balanced approach<br />

to development to encourage existing and<br />

new industry while protecting our environment. I<br />

will continue to listen, lead and communicate in the<br />

service of the people of the North County while establishing<br />

a productive working rapport with all the<br />

members of the Board of Supervisors, always striving<br />

for civil debate and an end to partisan bickering.<br />

As your First District Supervisor I will listen to<br />

your concerns, ideas and inspiration. I will communicate<br />

about the County’s direction and actions. I<br />

will work with everyone to find the best solutions<br />

for everyone, not just one narrow band of constituents.<br />

I need your support to bring my experience,<br />

skills and passion to the San Luis Obispo County<br />

Board of Supervisors.<br />

I see a bright future for San Luis Obispo<br />
