Technically, dive fins provide a large surface area to push against the water. This enables ease of swimming using leg
muscles effectively which moves the diver’s body more efficiently. There are 2 types of scuba diving fins such as
open heel and full foot. Open heel tend to be more common but there is always that diver who wants full foot.
Open heel adjustable fins are the main fins used for scuba diving. They have the power to push you and your gear
through the water. These fins require a diver to wear wet suit boots (booties). Dive boots also come in handy for shore
dives to protect the bottoms of feet when entering and exiting the water. Full foot fins aren’t adjustable and don’t
require wet suit boots. They go on like slippers. Smaller fins suited to snorkelling or very lightweight scuba diving are
full foot fins. These are fine for warm water diving, but chances are in cooler waters, you’ll want boots to keep your
feet warm.
Scuba diving is an important part of tourism industry. It is hot field since it is emerging and has become one of the
most widespread recreational sports across the globe. Moreover, arousing interest amongst divers and enthusiasts
towards exploring different forms of underwater life and habitats in tropical, subtropical and polar locations is also one
of the factors responsible for enhancing scuba diving activity in a couple of years. However, rising number of
accidents and deaths in scuba diving has resulted in increased adoption of diving and survival equipment these days.
There are fins for swimming, snorkelling, free diving and body surfing. Fins for scuba diving are needed as they are
much comfortable with fins designed to move diver’s gear through the water with minimal effort and maximum
efficiency.
Commercially, North America and Western Europe have witnessed moderate growth in the dive fins market. North
America is expected to account for a major share in the dive fins market during the forecast period. This can mainly be
attributed to numerous scuba diving sites in this region. North America is followed by Western Europe in the dive fins
market. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Belgium among other countries hold a significant share of dive fins market
in Western Europe.
