The Henderson’s, Laningham’s, and Null’s just returned from a week-long trip at the coast
enjoying the cool weather. Heard Mike and Lynne Henenfent just couldn’t stand the heat
and took their new corvette and joined them for a couple of days.
I heard from Art and Nancy White while on their sailing trip. They are currently in British
Columbia in the Broughton Islands. It has been spectacularly gorgeous with pristine
waterways and islands everywhere with tall mountains in the distance. Thank goodness
for GPS and chart plotters, without them it would be a maze navigating through. They
said they have a new respect for the early explorers that navigated with the stars. They
got to see an 80-pound Halibut caught by two very excited teenage boys, which is sure to
make them lifelong fishermen. Their sail boat has been behaving beautifully, transmitting
through 5 series of rapids with currents running up to 13 knots, so they have learned to
plan the passages at slack water. They are loving the cool weather and beautiful scenery.
Tom and Emily Piercy won’t be able to join us on the Mystery Run as Tom has to go to
Orlando for business. On the way home, they may have to sacrifice and find their way
through Bowling Green, KY.
Skip Severance had some interesting news about previous members Steve and Darlene
Siefert; they rolled their HHR back in December. Darlene’s mother broke her leg but Steve
suffered the more serious injuries, broke some ribs, broke his neck, lost his ear in the
accident but it was reattached. He is in rehab and is very slowly getting better. He is
having to re-learn motor skills. Please keep Steve and Darlene’s mother in your prayers.
Keith and I had a wonderful time on our Alaska Cruise. Weather was beautiful, the cruise
was smooth and had great entertainment. We saw a whole pod of whales, porpoises,
eagles and even a couple of bear. Beautiful scenery, gorgeous lakes.
Keith and I are just about to embark on an RV trip across the country to see Keith’s son
Butch and his family in Pikeville, KY. Will visit relatives in Southern California and Tucson,
AZ, hoping to see Peggy Smitha while in Tucson. We will visit the Alamo, relatives in
Houston and previous members the Conley’s in Star Harbor, TX. Very excited to see our
grandkids, taking the family to Dollywood and Arc Endeavor in Williamstown. Will be
going to Memphis and Nashville to see the sites. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of stories to
tell when we get back. Talk to you then.
