Commercial - More than 3 days - Parking Lot Version

EXT – BIG BOX STORE PARKING LOT - DAY
JIB-UP, REVEALING
A FATHER and TWO CHILDREN are returning to a parked compact
SUV. The FATHER is carrying a BOX containing a CAMPING
TENT, the SON is carrying a PORTABLE COOK STOVE, and the
DAUGHTER is carrying some rolled-up SLEEPING BAGS and a
shopping bag containing BATTERIES, and other small goods.
The father puts down his box and the car alarm disarms as
he begins to open the back hatch of the SUV
INT – SUV - DAY
CUT TO
Inside the SUV looking out the back hatch as the FATHER
finishes opening the HATCHBACK of the SUV, and starts
checking-off items from a small, SPIRAL-BOUND NOTEPAD. The
SON and DAUGHTER start placing their purchases in the back
as dad reads them out.
FATHER
...We’ve got the tent, campstove,
sleeping bags,
batteries...
DAUGHTER
(concerned,
interrupting)
Won’t Grandma need her medicine
too...?
The FATHER stops reading from his list – he missed that
one! He looks at his daughter, impressed. She’s good at
planning ahead!

SON
(agreeing)
Ya, and her prescriptions!
FATHER
(continuing the
thought)
...And our insurance, ID, bank
information, and...
The DAUGHTER pulls her SMARTPHONE out of her JACKET POCKET
and flashes it at her brother and father.
DAUGHTER
(overlapping and
continuing her
father’s thought)
...And important phone numbers!
The BROTHER is annoyed, but smiles tolerantly, as his
sister shows-off her new phone – again.
GRAPHIC
DISSOLVE TO
A stylized cartoon of a cheerful-looking city. A graphic
showing a large calendar animates onto the screen with a
“bump” effect. Three days are marked off with large “X”s
that appear on the screen, each with a light “boink” sound.
VOICEOVER
Emergency kits are valuable in
the short term...
The calendar slides to the top corner of the screen and
flips through a few months, while in the middle of the
screen, photos of passports, credit cards, and insurance
papers appear front and center on the screen, then reduce
in size, forming a graphic build below.
As the narration continues, “photocopies” of the documents
appear overtop of the originals with the mechanical
whooshing sound of a photocopier working.

personal documents accessible.
EXT – BIG BOX STORE PARKING LOT - DAY
GRAPHIC SLIDES/WIPES TO REVEAL
The SON and DAUGHTER are getting into the SUV, the DAUGHTER
in the front seat and the SON in the back seat, while their
FATHER closes the hatchback, then gets into the driver’s
seat.
INT – SUV - DAY
FATHER
You know, we can probably use
all this stuff for camping...
The children think this is a great idea! The DAUGHTER
turns to her FATHER as the SON’s leans forward from the
back seat, his head appearing from between the two front
seats.
DAUGHTER
We can go to the hot springs!
SON
...or to the island...
FATHER
...maybe the lake too!
CUT TO
The image of the family in the SUV softens on the bottom of
the screen as a graphic appears with the City of New
Westminster Logo and “Emergency Planning Office” beside it.
The father starts the engine and begins to back up as we...
