GOLD COUNTRY FAIR HAS IT’S OWN BEER THIS YEAR
Nevada City Brewery Ol’Republic to release a special brew for this years fair
The moment they started in
2011 this Nevada City Brewery
has seen growth beyond their
expectations. I had a chance to sit with
Jim Harte and Simon Olney over a pint
of their current best selling brew, Clouds
of Jupiter.
“I remember our first conference in
2011 at Sierra Nevada Brewery, I
was in awe over the cathedral
of stainless steel. It
was intimidating to
walk into that room,
yet everyone was
extremely welcoming
and inspirational.”
explains Jim.
Don Ales, CEO of the Gold
Country Fairgrounds, reached
out to all our regional breweries when
Ol’Republic jumped at the chance to
brew something special for this year’s fair.
“I have been humbled by the level of
commitment from Ol’Republic. Their
passion for their beers and the attention
to detail they are taking to make a beer
that is truly unique for this year’s fair.
Simon the owner even took this a step
further and designed a stunning logo
for our event. Thank Yous are just not

Jim and Simon
came up with the
name Pale Dorado;
this is derived from
the use of their main hops
which are El Dorado
Hops. Jim did not want to
commit to a flavor profile
for the beer he alluded to
Modern Pal Ale with an
alcohol content of around 6%.
“This brew is going to be something
special.” says Jim
Ol’Republic Brewery is located in
Nevada City in the Seven Hills District.
They are an award winning brewery
that includes a few best in shows at
the California State Fair competition
which is the third largest brew contest in
America.
