John Beasley was an accomplished

architect with a passion for design when

he met Lamar Wakefield in the 1970s.

Lamar was an intern at his previous

employer’s firm, and John immediately

recognized Lamar’s intelligence, creativity

and versatility. The two founded Wakefield

Beasley in their respective basements

later that year. While their young children

played underfoot, John and Lamar built the

foundation for a successful international

architectural design firm.

Studio for Wakefield Beasley, Mike is

instrumental in working with clients to

take complex ideas and turn them into

cohesive structures and environs that

meet a variety of purposes and maximize

the guest experience. He is passionate

about solving clients’ problems through a

simple philosophy of service: listen to the

client’s needs, develop and implement

a design that can be built and follow

through. The resulting mixed use spaces

transform communities, attract a diverse

customer base and yield profitable results

for Wakefield Beasley’s clients across the


St. Johns Town Center

Jacksonville, Florida

St. Johns Town Center is a 1,000,000 square foot, regional power center/upscale lifestyle center located

in Jacksonville, Florida. The project is a combination of power center tenants as well as a 500,000 square

foot lifestyle center component. The lifestyle center is being designed in two types of architectural styles

to emulate the traditional designs found throughout the North Florida region. The Northern portion of the

project is referred to as the ‘Jacksonville’ district, with architectural styles mimicking various portions of

Jacksonville. The Southern portion is referred to as the ‘St. Augustine’ district, with the major architectural

theme being more of a heavy Spanish architectural style.

Comcast Regional

Headquarters at The

Battery Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia

Anchoring a mixed-use complex with an office building is nothing new to Wakefield Beasley. But, doing

so with one of the largest media and technology companies in the world that invested around $100

million in a multi-terabit network to make the development one of the most connected in the United

States, does not happen every day. Located within The Battery Atlanta, which is adjacent to the new

home of the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park, Wakefield Beasley was tasked with the design of the 60 acre

site. For Comcast Regional Headquarters, the nine-story office tower which includes an Innovation Lab

and 20,000 square feet of restaurant and hospitality space facing the SunTrust Park plaza, the firm aimed

to create a signature design that complements the dynamic surrounding environment while providing

corporate space for the Central Division headquarters of Comcast and its 1,000+ employees. Working

together, the firms’ retail, multi-family and corporate office studios developed a unique office design

despite challenging topography and a tight site. Wakefield Beasley worked as one team to streamline

the process, and utilize the firm’s full breadth of expertise.

Medical Development


Nocatee, Florida

Designed as a medical office park for Medical Development International, the three phases of this project

consists of one three-story building and two matching two-story buildings. The entire facility incorporates

73,000 square feet of class-A office space in the planned community of Nocatee, north of St. Augustine,


Located in the heart of downtown Mountain Brook, Alabama, Lane Parke features modern luxury and

classic charm with five multi-level residen tial on-grade buildings with a total of 276 living units with private

balconies. The project also includes six enclosed parking garages. Other amenities include a summer

kitchen with fire pit area, cyber café, clubhouse, fitness center, resort style saline pool with sundeck and

lounging area, serenity gardens and open courtyards with water features between each of the residential

buildings. The apartments are part of a 28-acre, $130 million master planned development that will include

a 100-room Grand Bohemian Hotel and approximately 185,000 square feet of retail and office space.

Lane Parke

Mountain Brook, Alabama

Rhythm at Music Row

Nashville, Tennessee

Rhythm at Music Row is a 14-story, 105-condominium modern luxury development located at the end of

Music Row in vibrant downtown Nashville. Rhythm offers owners unprecedented access to its amenity

deck including a pool, fitness facilities, outdoor kitchens, private club room and secluded hot tub raised

five stories above street level for quiet urban luxury. The ground floor features over 5,270 square feet of

upscale retail.


Alpharetta, Georgia

Avalon was envisioned as the first true “urbanburb,” mixed-use development in the southeastern

United States, designed to attract high-end estate owners to a new style of residential fabric. Before

commencing design work for the development, Wakefield Beasley’s designers visited similar projects

throughout the country for inspiration, to be able to mimic the elements that worked in terms of common

spaces, pedestrian access and dimensions and omit the ones that did not. The firm also asked the local

governmental agencies involved in the project to visit the same places, so all team members could share

the same vision. This emphasis on research resulted in a smooth design process that created a wildly

successful development. Today, retail space is 100% leased, the restaurants are thriving and the multifamily

component is leased at above-market rate.

Wade Park

Frisco, Texas

Wakefield Beasley is currently crafting a design solution that will make two 400 unit multi-family residential

buildings feel like home for residents upon completion in 2017. These distinctly unique buildings will include

design elements that tie the street level to the upper amenity levels in innovative ways, with upscale

architectural details and a luxurious standard of living. Located on a 110-acre development, Wade Park

will offer luxurious homes and amenities for 800 families. The sheer scale of the project presents the firm with

interesting challenges; with each building occupying an entire city block, Wade Park must feel residential

without overwhelming families and visitors by its impressive size. When construction is complete, Wade

Park will top the market with a new level of sophistication for the residents of Frisco, Texas.

The Battery Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia

The Suntrust Park development will encompass more than 60 contiguous acres of property at the northern

intersection of Interstates 75 and 285 in Atlanta and will feature destination shopping and dining, living

spaces, an entertainment venue, an office tower and a hotel that will have views into SunTrust Park. A mix

of hardscapes and green spaces are integrated throughout the project. The main plaza that connects

SunTrust Park with the rest of the community is designed for public gatherings, including pre and post

game programming on game days along with non-game day special events and activities. More than

6,000 shared and dedicated parking spaces are planned immediately adjacent to the SunTrust Park and

within the mixed-use community.
