THE LAST WORD by Greg Pettis
Well, this week our Prez has brought us to the
point of WWIII and this time it will be nuclear.
He thinks he had swat North Korea and have their
little dictator back down but either can’t remember
or doesn’t care that China shares a northern
border with North Korea and is still their sponsor
state. Also, any nuclear attack on Pyongyang
would have fall out in; China, South Korea, Japan,
Guam, Russia and several other nations.
Watching him and the North Korean leader on
television this week is akin to a fight of pygmies
arguing about whose dick is bigger! No offense to
pygmies.
Even a conventional attack would spark retaliation,
either against us in Guam or more likely
our allies in South Korea. Lest we forget we have
20,000+ soldiers stationed in South Korea. Any
attack would also create a massive refugee problem
for both China and the US.
He ended the week announcing he won’t rule out
military action in Venezuela! What is wrong with
this man? He had somewhere between 3-5 deferments
from the draft during Vietnam, never served,
never put on a uniform, and somehow thinks we
can deploy our military EVERYWHERE! We are
already too deep in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and
god knows where else. And this from a man who
campaigned against President Obama for foreign
policy. A man who won the Nobel Peace Prize!
the election – ooops! Former campaign manager
Paul Manafort’s house is raided in a predawn raid
by the FBI! Plus, TWO grand juries have now
been empaneled. More search warrants to come
and indictments not too far away.
Oh, and I almost forgot, he is now tweeting attacks
on the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell.
From his own party! Told him to get back to work
– all the while he was on the golf course in New
Jersey on his “working vacation”.
Am I alone or is it time to say – Donald Trump –
YOU ARE FIRED!
Labor Day there will be a Resistance Rally at the
Cathedral City Town Square Park by the Civic
Center. It will be from 5:30pm – 7:00pm and feature
speakers from local and county government,
education, healthcare, environment and more.
There will even be kid’s activities so folks can bring
the family. Come join us as the valley says NO to
Donald Trump and his regressive policies!
Well, that’s it for this week. Keep moving forward
and RESISTING!
What an A-hole! I was raised to respect the President
of the United States. I disagreed vehemently
with George Bush, George W. Bush, Ronald
Reagan and yes even at times the Democrats, but
always respected them and their office. In just 200
days this clown has destroyed that.
Greg Pettis is a 22 year city councilman in
Cathedral City. Greg was the first openly
gay elected city council members In Riverside
County. He has served on the boards
of the National League of Cities and the
League of California Cities and as President
of the Southern CA Association of
Governments.
And if he thought all this bluster would divert
attention from his troubles with Robert Mueller
and the investigation(s) into Russia meddling in

21st annual HRC National
Dinner, which will be held
on Saturday, October 28,
2017. Once again our only
hope.
The Human Rights Campaign is the leading
national advocacy organization working
for the equal rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, and queer Americans through
education, research, and political activities.
The HRC National Dinner brings together
nearly 4,000 HRC members, friends, family,
and allies for an evening of celebration and
inspiration. Featuring a cocktail reception,
an extensive silent and live auction,
an elegant dinner, live entertainment, and
thought-provoking speakers and guests, the
HRC National Dinner attracts the nation’s
top figures in entertainment and politics..
Everywhere you travel, The Human Rights
Campaign logo is the most prevalent
symbol of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
and queer community.
The Human Rights Campaign Fund was
founded by Steve Endean in 1980 as one
of the first gay and lesbian political action
committee in the United States. The Fund’s
mission was to provide financial support on
behalf of the gay and lesbian community to
political candidates who supported gay civil
rights legislation. Vic Basile served as the
Fund’s first executive director.
The Fund quickly rose to prominence – after
its first election cycle in 1982, the Fund
was the 17th largest independent political
action committee in the United States.
Today we find ourselves cut adrift by an
administration that does not hold the same
moral convictions to support the LGBT
community and many other ideals we once
cherished. Today violence and hate seem to
be part of this administration.
If you or someone you know is struggling
to comprehend the results and is in need of
assistance, here are several LGBTQ-friendly
resources:

JERSEY’S JOURNAL by jersey Shore
Is it me or has this town gotten
scummier. I know scummier isn’t
the first choice of words for an adult
piece, but scummier. It’s a word, I
think.
I’ve been performing out here
for way over a decade and I don’t
remember this town feeling all corrupt
with wanna be Palm Springs
personalities. With their seven
smelly costumes and a whopping five
numbers in their performance bag.
Funny how my phone knows the
next word, which was millennials.
They think they are taking over?
Fuck no. Because you can do the
overrated death drop? Yawn girls. So,
all that leaves you with is excruciating
back pain in your forties.
I love the girls who wrap shredded
material around themselves and
poof, a black bodysuit is disguised.
It’s magic folks.
won’t have it. Go suck somewhere
else. It gets exhausting.
Why are memories from the past the
best it was? The best should be now.
We are a classy mature crowd. Are
we not?
Peace, Love and Humanity,
Jersey

THE ROBERT E. LEE STATUE HOW ART CAN INFLU-
ENCE AND EDUCATE
The bronze statue of Robert E. Lee was
unveiled in 1924 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
This event was attended heavily by the
Sons of the Confederacy as part of their
annual reunion. The statue was donated
and by Paul Mcintire a philanthropist and
part time resident of Charlottesville when
he wasn’t occupied making money on Wall
Street.
Henry Shrady was the primary artist
involved in the creation of the 26-foot
high statue he won a competition entered
in 1902 with Edward Casey, an architect.
The completion of the statue took nearly
20 years in which Shrady participated in
studying the biological structure of the
horse and other sculpturing techniques.
Shrady died in 1922 before the statue was
completed. The work was finalized with finishing
touches by the sculptor Leo Lentellli
who was noted for other imposing political
sculptures.
other artifacts. They should not be venerated
as an ideal to continue. The generals
of the Civil War were traitors. They were
defending slavery, divisiveness, hatred, and
greed. The White Supremest activists and
individuals following this movement are
destructive to society and to the country in
general. Unfortunately. the United States
has elected a president who promotes and
supports the premise of these hate groups.
The only remedy for the tragedy of Trump
is impeachment and removal from office.
After the events in Charlottesville over the
weekend hopefully, people will begin to
realize the the dangerous mistake that has
been made with the hate mongering Trump
and the haters and bigots that support him
can soon be designated to a negative period
of United States history.

The statue was over a week delayed in
arriving by train at Charlotteville. Waiting
to be unveiled it was covered by a giant
confederate flag. From the very beginning
of the planning of this statue, it had been
a divisive undertaking. The Civil War had
been fought 40 years prior and emotions
were still frail regarding the events of the
war. What has evolved during the past
century is a realization that inequality and
racism are not acceptable. The icons of the
Confederacy have become symbols of hate
and division. Putting them into museums
and other places where they can be seen as
educational tools representing an era that
should not be repeated, is a useful way to
maintain the artistic value of sculptures and

Curry Mendes Art Photography
Exhibition at University of
California Riverside – Palm Desert
“Art Photography Project: A
Moment in Time”
August 18th, 2017 (6pm – 8pm) one
night only
Held at University of California,
Riverside-Palm Desert Ext.
75080 Frank Sinatra Blvd., Palm
Desert, CA
Palm Springs, Ca. - Award winning artist,
Curry Mendes, is pleased to announce the
opening of “Art Photography Project: A
moment in time”. An avant-garde photography
exhibition that celebrates Palm Springs
and its residents. The powerful imagery
captures over 70 Palm Springs residents
who ventured to be exposed to his peering
lens and let their personal stories be told
through dramatic black & white portraiture
– one moment at a time.
Originally hailing from the New York City
art scene, Curry Mendes has called Palm
Springs home for the past nine years. Mr.
Mendes has been painting and shooting
photography, both commercially and artistically
for the past twenty five years and
portraiture is his passion. Prominent Palm
Springs restauranteurs and art collectors,
Jerry & Barbara Keller, share their collection
of Curry’s portraiture work in their establishments
which can be seen on public display
at LuLu’s California Bistro and Acqua
California Bistro.
“Photographs are time capsules in a frame.
As a portrait photographer, my objective is
to tell an emotionally in-depth story that
truly captures that moment in time as if the
art were an archive of emotion. As a writer
uses words to tell a story, I utilize composition,
gestures, positioning, color, lighting
and balance to expose viewers to a captured
and archived moment in time.
The show was specifically designed as an
Avant-Garde art photography project to
emphasize the fleeting moments of memories
which we like to hold on to which is
the reasoning of a one night only exhibition.
The participants will not see their portraits
until the reveal which will be the evening of
the event.”
