with MIKE RAXWORTHY SUPER-SKA LAUNCH PARTY ON THE BEACH! If you like a party and you’re into ska music this will be the gig for you! Heralding the start of The Hastings Seafood and Wine Festival for the last two years, Super Ska night has become a fave-rave favourite! It’s on Friday evening the 15th September in the Seafood and Wine Music Marquee, situated next to The Lifeboat House on The Stade foreshore. This years concert features two superb live ska bands..headliners are The Meow Meows, a 10 piece unit from Brighton. They’ve played Glastonbury and Boom Town as well as a whole host of festivals throughout Europe. with I brought them down to Hastings for The Seafood Festival three years ago and they went down a storm, and had a ball, MIKE RAXWORTHY so I’m over joyed to hear they wanted to come back and do it again! They are on stage at 9.30pm. Supporting them and making their first ever appearance in Hastings are Salisbury based ska band THE INTERCEPTEURS. They kick the live sessions off at 8pm. I’m hoping for a cavalcade of sixties scooters. 4 or 5 superbly refurbished 60’s scooters will be on display in the entrance of the marquee, and anyone turning up on a scooter can park it and show it off along the front of the Marquee. Tickets are on sale now at The Hastings Tourist Information Centre on Hastings Seafront. £8.50 in advance or £10 on the door on the night. I have a with licensed bar with real ales, wines and spirits, and anyone who supported it last year will know it was ska-tastic. MIKE RAXWORTHY The Seafood and Wine festival gets under full steam on Saturday 16th September. Gates open at 11am. This year the weekend entrance ticket for two afternoons of live bands in my music marquee, some cooking demonstations, kids entertainment (this year we have a circus and story teller) as well as entry on the restuarant site will be £2 in advance or £3 on the day. Under 18s are free! Here’s what I have on the main stage: Saturday starts with the Dead Rabbits at 12 noon, a local band getting a good following where ever they play. At 1.30pm I have Jamie Williams Roots Collective. 3pm: the amazing singer, guitarist Will Johns and his blues band, 4.30pm Local soul sister Karis Thompson and the Lost Weekend and I finish with a bit of a party and The Two Tones at 6pm till 7pm. Sunday Morning: Doors open at 9am. I’m presenting Liane Carroll and friends at 10.30am for a Jazz Breakfast. This one has become a bit of a tradition and sells out every year. I have tables and chairs and you get a selection of Danish Pastries and Coffee. Tickets are available from The Hastings Tourist Information Centre and are £15 for adults, or £10 for under 18’s. Sunday Afternoon from 1.15 we have The Strings - a must-beseen young Hastings Band, 2.45pm the superb Justin and the Argonauts, 4.15pm Stax of Motown 10 piece with fab female three piece harmonies...and to finish on a high octane dance party, The Big Kahuna Soul and Funk band.
