Dear Friends,
Welcome, we are excited that you will be joining us for our
Annual Benefit Auction.
Once again, I am amazed and inspired by the works donated
by so many talented artists. It’s been said that an individual
achieves the status of master artist only after practicing their
craft for at least 10,000 hours. If so, each of the pieces in this
year’s auction is a master artist’s gift.
These artists have contributed to the future of an organization
they believe in. Please help us recognize and honor the generosity
of these artists by bidding often and in good spirit. We
hope their generosity will be exceeded only by your very own
on auction night.
And, please remember, it is okay to compete with your friends
and neighbors because every little bit helps us in our quest
to create opportunities for artistic exploration, expression and
learning long into the future.
Warmly,
Marlene True
Fund-a-Need
Lot 13
This year’s Fund-A-Need will raise money to help us kickstart
our goal of paying off the mortgage on our building at
201 Main Street.
Built in 1920, The Davis & Coffield Building is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places and has been our home
since 1994. In the early days Davis & Coffield had a reputation
as “the largest and most prosperous general store in
eastern North Carolina.” Today it houses our clay and metals
studios, gallery, offices and resident artist apartment. Over
the past 23 years participants of all ages have come through
our doors and enjoyed creativity and the camaraderie that
often develops in the studio.
To get the campaign started a great friend of Pocosin Arts,
Barbara McFadyen, has graciously stepped forward to help
raise funds with a “Mortgage Marathon Challenge.”
The mortgage now stands at $66,000 and Barbara has
pledged $5,000 toward the mortgage and is asking friends
of Pocosin attending the auction to match or exceed that
amount. We’ve already received one gift; Robin and Ron
Vick have graciously given $1,000, so we just need your help
raising the remaining $4000. And, if we raise that additional
$4000 or more, another friend, who wishes to remain anonymous,
has agreed to add an additional $2,500. This would
bring our Mortgage Marathon to $12,500, or more, for a
great start towards the finish line of $66,000.
During the auction we invite you to raise your paddle to help
us reach our goal, gifts may be made at levels of $1,000,
$500, $250, $100, $50 and $25 with a goal of raising $4000
or more this evening.
Thank you for your support!
Bidding Information
Bidder Numbers
All sales are tracked and recorded by bidder numbers. This
number can be found on the back of your auction catalogue,
name tag, and in your registration packets. Your bidder number
must be used when placing bids in the silent and live auctions.
Silent Auction
Bid sheets are placed near each item. These identify the minimum
starting bid and required increase for successive bids.
Please increase your bid in the specified increments. At the
close of the bidding, if two or more parties are still actively
bidding on the same item, each will be given a slip of paper
to fill out with their bidder number and final bid amount. The
highest final bid wins.
Bidding Schedule: see page 6
Live Auction
The auctioneer will explain bidding rules at the beginning of
the auction. Bid increments are set by the auctioneer. The
highest bid wins.
Payment
Acceptable forms of payment include: all major credit cards,
cash and personal checks. All sales must be settled by the
close of auction and all sales are final. No sales tax will be
charged, Pocosin Arts is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization.
The payment desk in the Riverside Lodge will remain open after
the end of the live auction to accept payments. Items may
be claimed with receipt of payment.
