PRIMARY PE & SPORT PREMIUM
WILL DOUBLE FROM £160
MILLION TO £320 MILLION
The Secretary of State’s announcement
on school funding, includes a section
reconfirming the commitment to
doubling the Primary PE & Sport
Premium from September 2017.
The Department for Education (DfE)
has made the following statement:
“The DfE understands that schools are
keen to know how much funding they
will receive so that they can plan for the
next academic year, and are seeking
to communicate high level principles in
preparation for the new academic year.
These will be announced in due course;
however, we can confirm that all
schools will see an increase in their
premium allocation.
For more information on how much funding primary schools will receive and advice on how to
spend it please visit www.gov.uk/guidance/pe-and-sport-premium-for-primary-schools
TEACHER CPD
HOW SCHOOLS WILL RECEIVE
THE FUNDING:
• Schools with 16 or fewer eligible pupils receive
£1,000 per pupil.
• Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive
£16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.
The Government is committed to ensuring that all schools
are fairly funded and that money is invested in the most
effective way. After careful consideration, we have therefore
decided not to proceed with the proposed healthy pupil’s
capital programme, to provide more money to schools
through their core funding instead. Schools can, of course,
choose to invest their core funding in PE and Sport.”
DfE will publish the school level breakdown of funding
for the academic year 2017/18, including conditions of
grant, in October 2017.
Over the course of the 2017/18 academic year,
Energise Me with help from School Games
Organisers, will be organising sport specific
workshops and courses for teachers in
Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Last year we held workshops in Gymnastics,
Athletics, Hockey, Tag Rugby, Hi 5 Netball
and Cricket across the county.
The Sessions are 2-3 hours long and are aimed at up-skilling staff
within primary schools. The workshops will vary between NGB
courses and bespoke workshops tailored to the teacher’s needs.
