alternative. Meet some of our experts and read about<br />
the tours they will lead in the pages that follow.<br />
Francisco Dallmeier is a senior conservation biologist<br />
with <strong>Smithsonian</strong>’s Natural History Museum and<br />
director of the <strong>Smithsonian</strong> Center for Conservation and<br />
Sustainability. His research and conservation programs<br />
have focused on critical and endangered species and<br />
ecosystems, monitoring programs for forests, climate<br />
change, and impact mitigation of large development<br />
projects. Francisco, who has traveled and worked<br />
professionally in nearly 100 countries, will lead a departure<br />
of Southern African Adventure and Patagonian Explorer.<br />
Aneta Georgievska-Shine is a scholar of the<br />
Renaissance and Baroque eras, yet as an art historian her<br />
interests range from ancient to contemporary art. Her<br />
publications include scholarly books and many articles.<br />
In addition to her art historical expertise, she also brings<br />
a deep knowledge of the history, politics, and languages of<br />
Central and Eastern Europe. Aneta will lead departures of<br />
three Stay programs—Kraków, Prague, and Barcelona—as<br />
well as a departure of the new Pearls of Croatia and Slovenia.<br />
Wayne Ranney is a geologist who has served as an<br />
expert on educational tours to all seven continents. A<br />
retired professor of geology, he has a lifelong interest in<br />
natural and earth sciences and specializes in making the<br />
fascinating story of our planet come alive for travelers.<br />
He is also a well-respected author of many award-winning<br />
books and articles. Wayne will serve as expert on Wonders<br />
of the Galápagos Islands Voyage and departures of Adventure<br />
in Iceland, Splendors of Australia and New Zealand, and<br />
Splendors of Morocco.<br />
