Among the experts who accompany you on

are scholars in biology, ecology, geology, and
other disciplines and curators who study and
interpret culture, art, and history.

alternative. Meet some of our experts and read about
the tours they will lead in the pages that follow.
Francisco Dallmeier is a senior conservation biologist
with Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum and
director of the Smithsonian Center for Conservation and
Sustainability. His research and conservation programs
have focused on critical and endangered species and
ecosystems, monitoring programs for forests, climate
change, and impact mitigation of large development
projects. Francisco, who has traveled and worked
professionally in nearly 100 countries, will lead a departure
of Southern African Adventure and Patagonian Explorer.
Aneta Georgievska-Shine is a scholar of the
Renaissance and Baroque eras, yet as an art historian her
interests range from ancient to contemporary art. Her
publications include scholarly books and many articles.
In addition to her art historical expertise, she also brings
a deep knowledge of the history, politics, and languages of
Central and Eastern Europe. Aneta will lead departures of
three Stay programs—Kraków, Prague, and Barcelona—as
well as a departure of the new Pearls of Croatia and Slovenia.
Wayne Ranney is a geologist who has served as an
expert on educational tours to all seven continents. A
retired professor of geology, he has a lifelong interest in
natural and earth sciences and specializes in making the
fascinating story of our planet come alive for travelers.
He is also a well-respected author of many award-winning
books and articles. Wayne will serve as expert on Wonders
of the Galápagos Islands Voyage and departures of Adventure
in Iceland, Splendors of Australia and New Zealand, and
Splendors of Morocco.
