The award recognises businesses that offer the highest standards of quality, comfort and hospitality and the assessors gave the shepherd’s hut 98% and told the owners, Gary and Ros Thomas it was the best example of shepherd’s hut accommodation they had ever seen. Ceridwen Shortlisted in RBA Awards The Ceridwen Centre Ltd, a glamping holiday business based in Carmarthenshire, has made it through to the Rural Business Awards (RBA – in partnership with CLA & Amazon) Tourism category final alongside four other UK based businesses. The overall winners set to be announced on the 5th of October at the Denbies Wine Estate, Surrey. The Ceridwen Centre is one of only three Welsh businesses, which were shortlisted over all categories. The Thomas’ use local tradesmen and artisan makers of food, toiletries and decorative items for the home wherever possible. To promote their business, Gary and Ros have joined MWT Cymru, an independent organisation that represents around 600 tourism and hospitality businesses across Mid Wales. MWT Cymru’s chief executive Val Hawkins congratulated the couple on their five star gold grading and commended their commitment to provide top quality accommodation for visitors. “Gary and Ros typify the new wave of high quality tourism businesses that we have welcomed to Mid Wales in recent years,” she said. “Their success is great news for the region as a whole because it reflects the excellent standards being achieved by our tourism operators.” Claim Your Free Directory Listing In March 2018, the industry’s leading trade publication, InternationalGlampingBusiness Magazine, will publish a Suppliers Directory for glamping operators. The Directory will list everything that a glamping operator could possibly require, from accommodation, through to bathroom fittings, firewood, interior design accessories, food and drink and more. The Directory will be unique in that it will list suppliers under product headings and by region, so glamping operators can source locally made goods and produce. Cheshire Farmer Launches Pitch & Canvas Suzanne Miller and her husband Drew have set up a new glamping business in Tattenhall offering pods, bell tents and regular tent pitches with breathtaking views of the Sandstone Ridge. The Millers have a working dairy farm – Broad Oak on the Bolesworth Estate and guests will be able to see the day to day running of the farm during their stay. Suzanne, who originally created Pitch & Canvas to diversify Broad Oak Farm, said: “ “Broad Oak offers the perfect opportunity to marry nature and business together, and create a unique offering which not only supports the growth of the farm but opens us up to a completely new market and audience.” Suzanne added: “Broad Oak Farm will remain a fully functioning dairy farm. So, as a unique experience, we will have the opportunity to allow our guests and visitors to see some of the daily duties that come with running a dairy farm.
