Treloar's Today September 2017

Treloar's Today September

September 2017 Welcome to the autumn edition of Treloar’s Today. September sees the start of a new academic year at Treloar’s as we welcome back our returning students and all those new to Treloar’s after a well-deserved summer break. This issue of Treloar’s Today takes a look back at the news, events and achievements that took place over the summer including our very special official opening of Gauvain House by HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO. Gauvain House really has gone from strength to strength over the last year and since the September 2016 intake of eighteen students, nine students have moved on so that other students will now be able to take up their places in the new term. The house has been specially designed to empower these students, enabling each to achieve to the best of his or her ability and for those whom independence is a possibility it becomes a reality. Could we please ask you to read an important ‘housekeeping’ article with respect to ‘Opt in’ and would urge you to respond if you have not done so already (please see below). Whilst hard to imagine, at this time no doubt very soon our thoughts will turn towards Christmas. Our enclosed gifts and cards brochure has plenty of ideas for the festive season, including unique ways to support our young people through our Gift of Giving scheme. We hope you enjoy shopping, knowing that you are supporting our vital work at the same time. Turn over to find out more about our special ‘Gifts of Giving’.... “Outside of Treloar’s you don’t get told about your ability, you just get told your disabilities. Here you are encouraged to be the best you can be.” Treloar’s student
