HE MIHI
Moerangi Rakaupai - Pouarahi
This year is fast drawing to a close and I have to say it has
been absolutely full on. Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa has
delivered four training sites this year with the Mauri Ora
National site in Tūwharetoa together with the three Mahuri
Totara sites in Wairarapa, Tamaki Makaurau and
Tūwharetoa.
According to feedback we have received the Mauri Ora
training has proven to be a great success with the
Kaiwhakaruruhau experiencing ihi, wehi and wana
transformations with each noho marae.
The Māhuri Tōtara noho attended by the rangatahi have
been very deliberate and consistent in what has been
delivered and certainly the rangatahi have benefited
greatly from the training delivered and the support they
have received from their own whānau. Whānau feedback
has marvelled at the positive change in their rangatahi and
we are being asked to go back to those sites next year in
2018.
Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa is most appreciative and
grateful for the support that whānau and haukainga have
afforded to all our noho marae so far this year, we look
forward to seeing you all in December at our Hui a Tau
which will be held here in Whakatane.
horapa kau ana te rongo pēhi ki ngā iwi taketake e noho nei i ngā ao rawanui, ko te aronga rā ia kia rewa ake
i te raupatutanga i whakapanonitia a tuawhakarere.
Nō konei e whakapuaki ai ngā whakawhiu taumaha, uaua anō hoki e tute nei te whakakitenga Māori. E
whakapono ana mātou ka hīia ake ai ngā rongoā ki ēnei whakawhiunga i te mātauranga hou e oroko mai i te
mātauranga o whakapatā me ngā tikanga tuku ihoā ngā tīpuna.
Te Korowai Aroha o Aotearoa is dedicated to a knowledge system that is authentic to the beliefs and values
of the Indigenous Peoples (Māori) of Aotearoa. This system is based on the view that all knowledge originates
from a divine source and was given to humankind to manage existence in Te Ao Mārama (the world
of light). We share the experience of other
Indigenous Peoples in first world nations who strive to transcend the legacy of colonisation that has
changed the world as we knew it. This presents Indigenous Peoples with new and complex issues that
challenge our view of the world. We believe the answers to these challenges lie in the emergence of new
knowledge based on ancient wisdom and traditions handed down to us from our ancestors.
Ngā mihi mahana
Moerangi Rakaupai
Pouarahi – CEO
