A–Z GENERAL SHOW INFORMATION 

ABOUT THE SHOW 

The 2017 Royal Melbourne Show, Victoria’s largest 

and most iconic annual community event, will be 

held from Saturday 23 September to Tuesday 3 

October at Melbourne Showgrounds. 

Conducted annually by the Royal Agricultural 

Society of Victoria (RASV), the Royal Melbourne 

Show celebrates and promotes excellence in 

Victorian agriculture, attracting around 500,000 

visitors over 11 spectacular days. 

Visitors can enjoy a huge variety of unique 

memorable agricultural and rural experiences that 

are entertaining, interactive, educational and fun. 

From thousands of animals featured in prestigious 

competitions to award-winner food and drink 

and world-class live entertainment, there’s an 

amazing variety of things to do at this year’s Royal 

Melbourne Show. 

Open daily from 9.30am to 9pm, the Royal 

Melbourne Show is easily accessible by public 

transport and has a fantastic variety of great value 

ticket packages available.

ABOUT THE SHOW 

OPENING HOURS 

Saturday, 23 September to Tuesday, 

3 October 2017. 

The Show gates are open from 9.30am to 9pm 

daily, with most Pavilions opening at 10am. 

Check Pavilion & Precinct open times for 

more detail.

ACCESSIBILITY 

• All pavilions are accessible by wheelchairs. 

• There are wheelchair spaces available to view 

actitives on the Herald Sun Arena. 

• Wheelchairs are available for hire from 

the information booths inside the Show for $5 

per hour. 

• Accessible ATM machines are located in 

the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion and 

The Galleria. 

• Accessible toilets are located throughout the Show. 

• A purpose built mobile facility for people/adults 

requiring a hoist and bed, is located at the back 

of the Showbag Pavilion, with enough room in 

the facility for a carer to assist. 

• Parking for patrons with a disability is available 

in the Flemington Racecourse and a limited 

amount of parking on Leonard Cres (note: if 

parking in Flemington Racecourse there is quite 

a steep hill when entering into the Show). 

• Patrons may use Gate 5 as a pick up/drop off 

point.

The Information Booth under the 

Pie in the Sky will be open from 

9.30am – 9pm. 

Other Information Booths around the Show will 

also open at 9.30am and start closing from 

7pm onwards.

separated or lost while at the Show 

• Manual Wheelchairs for Hire at $5 per hour 

• Wet weather ponchos at $4 or 2 for $7 

• Family Farm Showbag for sale at 

$20 with all proceeds supporting RASV 

agricultural competitions 





LOCKER HIRE 

Lockers are available to hire in 

several locations around the 

Show including: 

• The underpass next to The Weekly Times 

Livestock Pavilion, Map Ref: N5– these 

lockers will cost $10 for a small locker/$15 for 

a large locker with a $2 key deposit required. 

RASV Members receive free locker hire at this 

location, subject to availability. 

Lockers costing $2 each time accessed 

will be located: 

• Outside the toilets under the Public 

Grandstand/next to CWA entrance,

TRANSPORT & ACCESS TO 

MELBOURNE SHOWGROUNDS 

Accessible parking 

Limited accessible parking is available at Flemington 

Racecourse. Please note: the entrance to the Show 

from Flemington Racecourse can be quite steep and 

we recommend that patrons, if possible, be dropped 

off in Leonard Crescent near Gate 5. 

Parking 

Public car parking during the Royal Melbourne 

Show is available at Flemington Racecourse. 

• Car Park is open 7am to 11pm – parking is $25 

a day and $10 a day for RASV Members. 

• Epsom Road entrance is open from 

6.30am – 11pm 

• Smithfield Road entrance is open 

9.30am – 2pm 

Train 

• Special Show trains depart from Flinders 

Street Station starting from around 9.05am 

daily, stopping at Southern Cross Station 

and North Melbourne Station. The trip takes 

approximately 10 minutes. 

• Last train departing from the Show will be at 

10.30pm

Tram 

Catch the No. 57 tram from the corner of Flinders 

& Elizabeth Streets to Melbourne Showgrounds 

stopping on Epsom Road (stop 32). 

Bus 

Regular bus services travel to the Melbourne

• Catch 472 service from Williamstown to 

Moonee Ponds 

Taxi 

A taxi rank is located on the corner of Union Road 

across from Gate 1 Epsom Road entry into the Show. 

Wheelchair hire 

Wheelchairs can be hired from all Information 

Booths inside the Show for $5 per hour. 

A credit card is required to secure the deposit. 

All Pavilions at the Show are wheelchair accessible 

and there are areas for wheelchair seating at the 

Herald Sun Arena.

For the last two days of Show, the ADVANCE Dogs 

Pavilion will be transformed as cats are preened 

to perfection for the Royal Melbourne Show Cat 

Championship. 

Dogs: Saturday 23 September – 

Sunday 1 October 

Cats: Monday 2 & Tuesday 3 October 

Kids will love learning about their favourite 

animals in the Animal Nursery Education Hub 

where they can chat to a farmer and find out 

more about caring for farm animals and life on a 

farm, at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm and 

6.30pm daily. 

FAMILY FUN PAVILION

The Family Fun Pavilion is a retail pavilion suited 

to families with young children. Located between 

the Family Carnival and Channel 7 Entertainment 

Precinct, this pavilion showcases children’s toys and 

novelties, clothing, crafts, sporting products and 

much more.

JAYCO ANIMAL NURSERY

Get up close to lambs, ducklings, chooks, goats 

and more and make sure you grab a cup of food 

for just $2 to hand feed the animals. 






SHOWBAG PAVILION

Hundreds of showbags on offer from novelty fun, 

delicious confectionery and speciality bags ideal 

for grownups, there is a showbag for everyone. 

THE ANIMAL FARMYARD 

Open 10am – 7.30pm Map Ref: E3&F4 

See over 200 animals including cattle, sheep, 

goats, horses, poultry and alpacas as they live 

in paddocks, right in Melbourne Showgrounds, 

as they would at home. 

Showcasing real life on a farm, friendly Farmer 

Darryl will be looking after the animals and will 

be available to answer questions, discuss life on 

a farm and give handy tips on how to take care 

of livestock. 

SPOTLIGHT MAKERS PAVILION 


Map Ref: N5 

Over 4,000 creative exhibits are on display as 

part of the Art, Craft and Cookery Competition. 

Exhibits include, decorated cakes, intricate crochet 

works plus photography and more. 

Enjoy viewing the Springtime Paper Flower wall 

art installation, the Tea Cosy Collective, Fowlers 

Heritage Exhibition and the Yarn Farm. You can 

also take a step back in time to see the Miss Show 

Girl (1957-1996) display.

artisan ice cream to flavoursome paella and freshly 

made sushi, the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion is 

a delicious stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner. 

Visit the Woolworths Kitchen to taste and take 

home fresh ideas for getting the most out of the 

Woolworth’s freshest produce, meat, bakery 

and deli dishes. You can also book a seat for an 

intimate tasting session, which will be held each 

hour between 11am – 4pm, maximum seating for 

32 guests. 

The Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion also includes 

the Channel 9 Stand: 

• Channel Nine News desk – read and record 

your own news bulletin. See Peter Hitchener 

who will make regular visits. 

• Guests from the TV show The Block will also be 

dropping by for a visit.
