Superveloce—Italian for ‘super-fast.’ Aventador—the name
of a celebrated fighting bull in Spain. Lamborghini—the
stuff of automotive legend.
Put all three together and what you get is a ride with a
monster 6.5-liter V12 capable of generating 740hp, a
potential top speed of 350kph, and a 0-100kph launch
capability just under the sacred 3sec mark. That a G-force
meter occupies a space on the Aventador SV’s instrument
cluster is a clear testament to the car’s prowess.
Rocking strong, angular body lines reminiscent of an F-117 stealth jet,
this bull looks like it can take off at any given point. And with its new wing,
fenders, doors, and rocker panels redone in carbon fiber, the Aventador SV
continues its dedication to weight loss and comes in at a not-soinsignificant
45kg lighter than its non-SV counterpart.
The redesigned sections and exterior accents also make it more
aerodynamic and capable of being super-superveloce (a word, we wager,
that will soon be officially added to the Italian dictionary at the behest of
Lamborghini). Inside, a lightweight, plush ‘Carbon Skin’ fabric is used on
the headliner, cockpit and racing-style seats for a premium feel without
sacrificing weight.
Just as important, all these adjustments give the Aventador SV a more
aggressive, awe-inspiring, why-aren’t-you-already-in-my-garage
countenance—a definite prerequisite for a car that occupies our dreams
(or space on our bedroom wall as a poster, for that matter).
