What We Do
Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network is the leading
migrant and refugee organisation in Lewisham and proud to
be helping those most vulnerable. For over 20 years, we have
been offering free independent and confidential advice to
migrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
This toolkit contains everything you need to kick start your
fundraising and make it a success. The money you raise will
make it possible to further our mission to empower refugees
and migrants to thrive, make a positive contribution, integrate
and take control of their own lives.

HOW DO I
FUNDRAISE?
Raising money for charity should be fun so it is important to
find a fundraiser that suits you. Whether you are at school or
in work, there are so many ways to make a difference. We
don't expect everybody to run a marathon- so here are some
tips on how to start out.
Choose An Activity
Choose something easy and fun to organise based
on your talents or interests, such as baking or an
activity with friends. If you want to challenge yourself,
take on something new that you haven’t tried before.
Set A Goal
Set a realistic benchmark goal to work towards to inspire
people to donate.
Promote
Think about out the people who could support you and
share the work involved. Hand out posters, tell your
friends and family, put it on social media and see if the
local press will give you a mention – if you want the
public to attend.
Sponsorship
Make it easy for people to donate by using both paper
sponsorship forms and online fundraising pages. Collection
boxes are a quick and easy way to collect loose change too-

their dogs for them in return
for a donation. Great for
exercise and for staying
active.
Sell A Skill
Do you know how to play the
guitar? Or maybe you're the
next Gordan Ramsey? Well
how about selling your skill in a
workshop or class? This would
be great advertised locally.
Read-A-Thon
Great for kids! Set a start
date and an end date
then ask your friends,
family or book club to
sponsor you on the
number of books read or
on the number of minutes
read.
