Historian Ghlee Woodworth recently spoke at the the Newburyport<br />

Lions Club Meeting and they presented her with a $200 donation for<br />

her favorite institution. She decided that the Archival Center at the<br />

Newburyport Public Library would be a good place.<br />

Dr. Jekyll tries in vain to keep Mr. Hyde at bay. Attendees are encouraged<br />

to dress in 1920s attire and enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while being<br />

immersed in this lively interactive production and Halloween party.<br />

Hospital announces the arrival of<br />

Andrew Banos, MD, to the medical<br />

staff. Dr. Banos brings shoulder, hip<br />

and knee expertise to the wide range<br />

of orthopedics services available<br />

with 18 surgeons now on staff at the<br />

hospital.<br />

Dr. Banos has joined Seacoast<br />

Orthopedics in Newburyport, MA.<br />

He is a Harvard fellowship trained<br />

Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in<br />

Sports Medicine and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee.<br />

Dr. Banos has expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques such as<br />

arthroscopy, joint preservation, cartilage repair, and ACL reconstruction. He<br />

also performs a full spectrum of arthroscopic and open procedures including<br />

shoulder replacements as well as partial and total knee replacements.<br />

Dr. Banos received a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern<br />

University before obtaining his doctorate from the New York University<br />

School of Medicine. He trained in Orthopedic Surgery at Loyola<br />

University in Chicago and went on to complete a fellowship in Sports<br />

Medicine at Harvard Medical School / Brigham and Women’s Hospital.<br />

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the<br />

American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Massachusetts<br />

Orthopedic Association.<br />

He believes in comprehensive care of the whole patient and prefers to<br />

begin with non-operative treatment whenever possible. Dr. Banos has an<br />

interest in sports injuries and the care of athletes of all ages and types – from<br />

the “weekend warrior” to the professional athlete. He has worked with a<br />

number of area colleges and high schools as well as with the New England<br />

Revolution MLS soccer team.<br />

A native of the north Boston area, Dr. Banos enjoys outdoor activities<br />

and is an avid skier, hiker and boater. He lives in Newburyport with his<br />

wife Emily.<br />

The Friends of the Rowley Public Library are planning the<br />

6th Annual Holiday Basket Raffle.<br />

We need your help to collect some exciting prizes.<br />

Please contribute a basket with a regular retail value of at least $50. It can<br />

include your own products or other fun items related to a specific theme. It<br />

might contain the tools to start a new hobby or keep a resolution. If you are<br />

unable to donate a complete basket, consider donating a gift card for our popular<br />

gift card tree.<br />

Take this opportunity to highlight your group’s products or services and promote<br />

awareness of your organization. All baskets will be on display (along with your<br />

organization’s name) at the Rowley Public Library from November 18 to<br />

December <strong>16</strong>.<br />

Baskets are due by November 14.<br />

Raffle tickets will be sold at the Library starting November 18.<br />

The drawing will be on December <strong>16</strong> at 1pm at a reception at<br />

the Rowley Public Library. Come enjoy some snacks and see<br />

who wins your basket!!<br />

NOTE: Because the baskets will be on display for 4 weeks, we<br />

cannot accept donations of alcohol, tobacco or perishable items.<br />
