GEORGETOWN – Instructor Terry Palardy will lead a new quilting group<br />

creating comfort lap quilts to be used at emergency scenes for children<br />

experiencing a traumatic event on Tuesday Nov. 14 and Tuesday Nov. 28,<br />

noon -2 p.m. at the Georgetown Senior Community Center. The quilts will be<br />

donated to the Georgetown Police and Fire Departments for use at emergency<br />

IPSWICH - The Town & Country Garden Club of Ipswich invites the public<br />

to it’s November meeting, Christmas with the First Ladies. Colleen Christian<br />

Burke, a three-time member of the White House Christmas decorating team,<br />

nationally recognized TV personality and author of Christmas with the First<br />

Ladies; The White House Decorating Tradition from Jacqueline Kennedy to<br />

Michelle Obama, will present a historical slide show and floral demonstration<br />

inspired by the holiday traditions of former First Ladies. She has teamed up<br />

with Fitz and Floyd to design the First Ladies Collection and will graciously<br />

raffle off a few of this years designs. This is a program you won’t want to<br />

miss. Signed books will be available for sale at $29 each. This program is<br />

made possible by The Louise R. Johnson Fund. Louise’s spirit lives on in the<br />

projects and programs that her trust fund makes possible every year and we<br />

are all so grateful for her generosity. The program will be held on November<br />

9, at 7pm at EBSCO, 5 Peatfield Street, Ipswich (Old K Club, near Riverview<br />

IPSWICH - The 14th annual Crane Estate Art Show & Sale: Nature’s Wisdom<br />

celebrates the beauty of the natural world. The theme pays homage to Miné<br />

Crane, wife of Cornelius Crane and a Japanese painter, whose <strong>10</strong>0th birthday<br />

would have been in 20<strong>17</strong>. Miné drew inspiration from the natural world,<br />

particularly from the animals and trees at the Crane Estate. The show will<br />

feature more than 400 works of original artwork on the first and second floors<br />

of the Great House, sculpture on the Grand Allee, plus works from North Shore<br />

high schools and Montserrat College of Art in the Casino. Art proceeds will<br />

benefit the artists and The Trustees. Special activities during the weekend will<br />

include a special Miné Crane art display, a community chalk board, People’s<br />

Choice Award voting, and a free student art show reception on Saturday at<br />

2 p.m. in the Casino. Friday’s special preview party, “Crane Estate Art Show<br />

Soirée,” will offer catered hors d’oeuvres, live jazz, an open beer and wine bar,<br />

and a champagne birthday toast. Attendees will have first dibs on the artwork<br />

and have their admission cost deducted from any art purchased during the<br />

party. The Crane Estate thanks its generous art show sponsors The Institution<br />

for Savings, The Outsidah, First Ipswich Bank, and Port Lighting Systems.<br />
