During the morning lecture, we<br />
will utilize images, specimens, and<br />
other interpretive materials to help<br />
with sparrow identification. We<br />
will also discuss sparrow habitats<br />
and the timing for seeing various<br />
individual species in our area.<br />
During our field trip, we will<br />
visit a number of very productive<br />
habitats in the Newburyport/Plum<br />
Island area to see sparrows and<br />
practice identification techniques.<br />

This series is designed for teachers,<br />
science curriculum specialists,<br />
administrators, and naturalists<br />
with a focus on PreK through<br />
Grade 2. Participants will walk<br />
away with many new and exciting<br />
lesson plans that support life- and<br />
earth-science standards; ideas for<br />
student-generated projects; and<br />
a greater understanding of the<br />
importance of protecting the nature<br />
of Massachusetts. You’ll acquire<br />
new information, learn about local<br />
conservation efforts, and increase<br />
your comfort level and confidence<br />
in teaching your students about<br />
the natural world. Participants<br />
will receive five professional<br />
development points per session.<br />
