WHAT A HAUL: The bags of dagga found by police after they stopped a vehicle in Cathcart Road
over the weekend
Picture: SUPPLIED
Huge haul of dagga
MEMBERS of the Komani public order
policing unit seized dagga to the
value of R1-million in Cathcart Road in
the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police spokesman Captain Namhla
Mdleleni said police stopped a Toyota with a
CA registration number while patrolling along
the N6 through town.
POLICE in Komani have
established a task team to
investigate the disappearance
of a 14-year-old girl from
Mlungisi three weeks ago.
In the meantime, police
confirmed this week that they
continue to await the DNA
results of a body found in the
Eskom residential area three
weeks ago.
Police spokeswoman
Captain Namhla Mdleleni
confirmed this week that the
results had not yet been
returned to the local police.
The body had been found
between John Noah High
School and the residential
area, with a tyre placed
around it.
Police are also continuing
the search for a missing girl,
Vuyolwethu Hemeni, 14, from
the same area, who went
missing on August 25.
Twenty-six bags of dagga were seized and
a 35-year-old man taken into custody.
The suspect was believed to be travelling
from Ntabankulu to Cape Town.
A case of possession of dagga was
opened. The suspect appeared in the
magist rate’s court in Komani on Tuesday. –
in two criminal cases
Hemeni, a pupil of Edlelweni
Primary School, did not return
home after school and was
resident in the Eskom area.
Police confirmed last week
(“Still gone” September 8)
that while there had been
speculation that there was a
link between the missing child
and the body, such a link
could not be confirmed and
the cases were being treated
as separate. – Rep reporter
