Rosen Hotels & Resorts, led by President and CEO Harris Rosen of Southwest Orlando, committed $140,000 to the Step Up For Students Scholarship Program for the 2017-18 school year. Step Up For Students helps administer the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which provides K-12thgrade scholarships to qualified lower-income families throughout Florida. The program allows recipients to choose between a scholarship to help with private school tuition and fees or a transportation scholarship to assist with transportation costs to an out-of-district public school. Rosen is one of the earliest donors to Step Up For Students. John Kirtley, founder and board chairman of Step Up, partnered with Rosen for the first time in 2003. Harris Rosen, a fervent believer in a quality education, initiated a program that provides educational opportunities for the underserved neighborhood of Tangelo Park. Margaret Cox of Higgin Brothers Surgical Center was the guest speaker at a recent Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips meeting. She talked about the center’s partnership with the Haitian Christian Mission. In addition, Ryan Smith was named Rotarian of the month for I choose excellent medical care for my patients.
