School times Nursery

School times Nursery Children attend the Nursery on a part-time basis for either five mornings or five afternoons per week. Although Nursery Education is not compulsory, demand for places is great and therefore it is essential that your child attends regularly and punctually, except in cases of illness. Nursery hours are as follows: Morning Session: 8.30 a.m. start – 11.30 am Afternoon Session: 12.30 p.m. start – 3.30 pm Reception Children in Reception will attend on a full-time basis (9.00 am to 3.15 pm) starting from September. Full time education is compulsory, therefore is important that your child comes to school every day, except in cases of illness. If your child is absent due to illness it is important that you telephone the school office before 8.30 a.m. so that relevant class teachers can be informed. 6

Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and Timetable The curriculum for the whole Foundation Stage around 3 prime areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development PSED is a crucial part of a child’s development in Early Years. Activities include circle time, games to learn social skills and teaching the children to be independent. Physical Development Physical Development allows the children to develop their fine and gross motor skills both in the classroom and outside. Communication and Language Communication and language focuses on listening and attention, understanding of language and speaking. The prime areas of the curriculum are supported by four specific areas, which teach children key skills and knowledge for development: 7
