AT THE HEART OF
THE OPERATION
In spite of it being a difficult year
for the GCC financial markets and
Bourses, including Bahrain Bourse
(BHB), the majority of trading indicators
ended 2016 positively. The trend
continued into 2017 with BHB’s positive
performance reflecting investors’
confidence in the performance of public
shareholding companies, the solid legal
infrastructure of the Bourse, and the
credibility of Bahrain Bourse’s trading
systems and procedures.
At the heart of the BHB operations
is Narjes Farookh Jamal, Executive
Director of Operations. “I started
working Bahrain Bourse in 1998 in the
Information Technology division, and
gradually progressed to the position I
am in today,” she says.
Playing a pivotal role in automating
the operations of Trading, Clearing,
Settlement, and the Central Depository,
as well as developing the organization’s
Business Continuity function, in the
course of her 20 years in the field, she
has seen BHB evolve into a modern
automated trading platform that utilizes
cutting-edge solutions. The journey
has been long but in 2015, when she
received an award as one of the leading
women pioneers in the banking and
financial Sector from HRH Princess
Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa on
Bahraini Women’s Day (December
1), it was an acknowledgment and
recognition of the years of hard work
and dedication.
Today Narjes leads a seven-member
leadership team responsible for all
of the organization’s business lines,
including Trading Operations, Listing,
Disclosure, Information Technology,
Marketing and Business Development.
