SHOWING
YOUR HOME
Don’t Just Show Your Home… Show It Off!
FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE LASTING
The front of your home greets the buyers. Make
sure your landscaping is well manicured. Mow
your lawn weekly and edge up the driveway
and along the sidewalks. Make sure your
exterior paint is in good condition, front door is
clean, your sidewalk and steps are clear of snow
and ice.
NEAT AND CLEAN
Make sure your house is neat and clean from
top to bottom. A clean house shows better and
sells easier.
MANAGE YOUR PETS
Make sure your pets will not be a distraction
and make sure pet areas are clean and
odor free.
SECURE YOUR VALUABLES
You may want to consider putting your
valuables in a safe deposit box while your home
is on the market.
PERSONAL ITEMS
Pare down on personal items on foyer tables,
fireplace mantels and refrigerator doors.
BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL
Open the drapes and blinds, and turn on the
lights to make your home bright and cheerful.
TEMPERATURE
Set a comfortable temperature; cool in summer,
warm in winter.
SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS
Try to arrange your schedule so you can leave
your home when an appointment is scheduled.
If buyers are alone with their Realtor ® , they are
more likely to ask questions and discuss their
thoughts about your home.
If you are home when buyers come to look at
your house, let the Realtor ® do the showing.
Be mindful of what you say to the buyers about
the house and especially try to avoid the topics
about price, terms, possession or other details
about the house.
Do not show your home to prospects without
an appointment; refer them to your Realtor ® .
