ABBA: SUPER TROUPERS – NEW IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION Musician, author, actor & BBC Music presenter Jarvis Cocker will be narrator for ABBA: Super Troupers, the brand new, immersive exhibition opening at London’s Southbank Centre on Thursday 14 December. The exhibition recreates the extraordinary rise to worldwide fame and lasting legacy of ABBA (Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad), set against the shifting socio-economic and political conditions of the time. Transforming a traditional exhibition experience, immersive guided tours include an audio narrative voiced by Jarvis Cocker and written by journalist and documentary maker Jude Rogers. Audiences are transported on a journey through previously unseen archive material including ABBA’s original costumes, handwritten notes and sketches, personal photographs, music and instruments, plus album artwork, photography and film by notable collaborators such as film director Lasse Hallström. Theatrical backdrops recreate some of the most significant events from their heyday – including the Brighton hotel room where ABBA celebrated their Eurovision win, the Polar music studio and a 1970s disco – and provide context to the evolution of their creative process and their enduring appeal, from the Mamma Mia! phenomenon to their multimillion record sales worldwide. Jarvis Cocker, long-term performer and creative contributor at Southbank Centre including Meltdown festival in 2007, said: ‘I love Abba. You love Abba. My love began when my sister bought ‘Arrival’ in 1976 & played it non-stop for the next 6 months. What’s your story? Why don’t we meet down at the Southbank Centre to compare notes? I would love that.’ ABBA The Museum opened its gates to the public on 7 May, 2013 and is located in Stockholm, Sweden. ABBA is one of the world’s most successful music groups, with over 380 million records sold worldwide. ABBA The Museum presents a complete image of the band from the time ABBA was formed in the early 70’s to their breakthrough in 1974 with Waterloo, their big world tours, up until their break in 1982. NEW DESIGNER JEWELLERY MARKETPLACE LAUNCHES Hidden Jewellery is a new online discount designer jewellery marketplace that will partner with and promote acclaimed talent to curate the one-stop jewellery store. There are some websites that sell end of line jewellery at discounted rates and have special jewellery sales promotions but there isn’t a dedicated jewellery site. Consumers can browse and shop on Hidden Jewellery from the comfort of their own home or simply use their mobile devices. The concept is designed so there is room for expansion and organic growth, keeping the site refreshed. The variety of products and brands planned as future partners will give a broad consumer choice and offer. To coincide with the launch of Hidden Jewellery, there is the launch of Hidden in The Trunk which will host a series of pop-up trunk shows in unusual venues, linking with existing and emerging talent in the fashion and luxury lifestyle arena, curated by fine jewellery designer, Sarah Ho. The launch will be on 8/9 December with temporary residency in ‘No Such Place’ in London’s Covent Garden, creating a personalised shopping experience in comfortable surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of the season’s festivities.
