Although you have decorated your tree, your cookies are baked and your home is decked out in holiday festive colors, many folks came out to enjoy the festivities of the Christmas Parade. The parade featured marching bands, floats, entertainers and Santa Claus. The parade starts at Vermont heads west and turns around at Massachusetts, crosses the RR Tracks and heads back down Broad Street Southern Pines is the perfect place to welcome the holidays. Dressed up in their holiday best, the small town retail shops form enchanting backdrops for the season. Its charming streets and decorated shops are bustling with the sights and sounds of the holiday season with Broad Street becoming reminiscent of scenes from “A Christmas Carol.” This holiday season you can enjoy extended shopping hours, street carolers, a horse-drawn carriage parade and historic house tours. Get ready for some dazzling lights, inspirational seasonal music and captivating displays that convey the magic of the holidays throughout the area at the Festival Of Lights at the Carolina Hotel. The festival turns the Carolina Hall into a sparkling winter wonderland while benefiting the Sandhills Children Center. Make sure you attend the Carriage Parade on December 9th. The Moore County Driving Club decorates their horses and carriages for Christmas and drives them through the downtown historic district. The ice skating rink will be complete with music, lights and joyous cheer that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Whether temperatures call for sweaters or shorts, guests will enjoy a skating experience unlike any other. Skates will be provided.
