StatementoftheProblem Despitetheobviousincreaseinawarenessregardingobesityandweightproblems amongtheyoungergeneration,theprevalencecontinuestorise,thusmakingpediatric obesityasamongthemostpopularchronicdiseasesinchildhood.In2010alone,over athirdoftheadolescentsandchildrentestedwereeitherobeseoroverweight(Olsen et.al,2012) AssessmentofObesityinPrimaryCare Riskfactorsthatareconnectedwithpediatricobesity,aswelasitsrelatedadverse outcomesmayturnouttobesevere.Moreover,thelikelihoodofpotentialycarying theseriskfactorsastheyenteradulthoodisalsohigh(Garner,2004).Adolescentswho aresufferingfrom obesitygeneralyhavean80%probabilityofalsobecomingobesein adulthood(Garner,2004).Therefore,measuringweightisessentialinscreeningand assessingtherisksinvolvedinprimarycare. WeightLossInterventions Ithasbeenacceptedwidelythattheenvironmentsofadolescentsandchildreninthe UnitedStatesencouragethem togetlostincalorie-dense,unhealthysugarandfoods whilesupportinginactivitythroughcomputeruse,televisionviewing,aswelasvideo gameusage.Alotofadolescentsandchildrenarenotmeetingtherequiredmoderate tostrongactivitystandards.Withtheincorporationofhealthylifestyleeducationinthe family,asignificantimprovementinweightlosshasbeenobserved. Methods Twelvepatientswereaskedtojointhisproject.Thepatientsthemselves,aswelas theirfamilies,receivedcontactseveryweekforstraightsevenweeks.Outofthe original12patientswhojoined,9havecompletedalofthesessions.Oneamongthem waseliminatedfrom theresults,becausetheinitialBMIdidnotmeetthestandard. However,shewasalsoincludedinalofthesessions.Anotheradolescentdropped from thestudyafterthesecondsession,whileanotherdroppedafterthethirdsession.

ResultsandDiscussion TheoveralobjectivesandgoalsofthisinterventionprojectweretoreduceBody MassIndex(BMI)throughpatienteducationabouthealthyactivityandnutrition.The smalsamplesizeweakentheresults,notalowingforanyform ofgeneralizability.On topofthat,certainsubgroupdifferencesincludingethnicity,gender,ageandother factors,cannotbeanalyzedbecauseofthenumberofparticipants.Overal,thisproject showsthatremoteeducationalinterventionsessions,includingtheoneusedinthis projectis effective when performed in the clinicalseting,and may also be implementedinacost-effective,timely,andefficientmanner.
