HAPPENINGS HONG KONG SPOTLIGHT Clockenflap Returns Hong Kong’s premiere music and arts festival returns once again to enthral fans. Clockenflap 2017, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, promises to put on a show like no other at Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront. Music though remains at the cornerstone of this music fest and the organisers this year have spared no expense to ensure that Clockenflap delivers what fans have come to expect. And judging by the eclectic mix of talents that appeared in previous events, this year’s festival will not be short on big names in music. In addition to headlining musical talents the likes of Prodigy, Massive Attack and Feist, Cockenflap 2017 will also set the stage for Asian musical talent to shine. Scheduled to perform during the two-day event this year are rising Korean R&B artist Dean, Chinese rap group Higher Brothers and Taiwanese alternative band Hello Nico, to name a few. Rock on from 17-19 November. POSITIVE CHARGE The fourth season of the Formula E championship kicks off in Hong Kong with an exclusive double header. Hong Kong will be the battleground for both opening rounds of the 2017-2018 season, as the world’s best drivers arrive to compete for honours. With this year’s championship expanded to 14 rounds, it’s anybody’s guess who will capture the chequered flag at the world’s premier all-electric open-wheel racing series. But if last year’s debut event in Hong Kong is anything to go by, fans will definitely be treated to a grand time. Not only will motorsport fans get to see the fastest electric cars lay rubber on the purpose-built urban track at the Central Harbourfront against a stunning city skyline, but they’re also get to enjoy off-track activities as well at the E-Village. So just strap in and enjoy the ride. 2-3 December, 110
