5 FANTASTIC BENEFITS
TO WORKING OUT IN
THE MORNING
by
Taking care of your health involves many things, and exercise is one of them.
Read this and find out the 5 great benefits of doing early morning exercise.
Even with the most exciting
plans, folks rarely want to wake
up with the roosters, much
less think about hopping on a
treadmill or getting some other
form of exercise. However, greeting the
rising sun while you engage in your morning
workout can benefit you in multiple ways.
Here are just five of the benefits that you
will get from exercising at the beginning of
your day; then you can decide for yourself if
you want to experience them too.
you’ll feel refreshed in the morning.
1 CONSISTENCY
Folks often flake on their exercise
plans because they think that it is too difficult
to work into their lives. If you like to
live spontaneously, have an ever-changing
work schedule, or have children at home,
it can be even more challenging to exercise
regularly. By working out before the
rest of the world is even awake, you lessen
the chances of random events disrupting
your routine. Plus, you will be well rested.
People who exercise before work are more
likely to succeed with their efforts than
those who exercise after work.
2
IMPROVED CARDIO EFFECTS
Heart health is one of the most
important reasons you choose to engage
in exercise each day. When you
opt to do so in the early part of the day,
you will receive greater cardiovascular
benefits. Upon awakening, your body
boosts adrenaline and other hormones
to hasten your heart rate and awareness.
By exercising early in the morning, you are
able to get a little more of this benefit. For
those with heart disorders it is essential to
speak with your primary care physician before
engaging in early morning workouts.
Those with certain heart conditions can experience
chest pain and even heart attacks
related to the cardio boost.
3
COGNITIVE ENHANCEMENT
You will experience improved mental
clarity for as many as 10 hours after your
exercise routine ends. For those who exercise
after work, much of that time is spent
sleeping, when you could benefit from
that boost during the day, when you need
it most. An early morning exercise routine
prepares you mentally and physically
for the day.
December 2017 9

4
IMPROVED WEIGHT
LOSS FUNCTION
Men and women looking to drop some
extra weight should definitely consider
morning exercise. Studies have shown
that people who exercise in the morning
experience fewer junk food cravings
during the day. Additionally, your body
burns more calories for a while after
you workout; this means that your body
will be burning fat at optimal levels all
day long. Along with a healthy diet that
includes high-quality proteins, fats and
carbohydrates, you will start seeing
the results that you desire from your
exercise plans.
5
BOOSTED ENERGY LEVELS
Your mood and energy are impacted by various chemicals, such as endorphins,
your body releases during exercise. For people who exercise at dawn, these beneficial
hormones can help sustain energy and a good mood until well after lunchtime. People
who exercise in the evening sometimes have difficulty falling asleep because of this effect,
which is yet another reason to embrace an early morning workout; subsequently,
you will be able to sleep better at night.
6SIMPLE TIPS TO
IMPROVE YOUR
SELF-ESTEEM
by
Chuck Meriwether
Follow Us:
If you’d like to boost your self-esteem, then make sure you take the time to
read these 6 simple tips on how to feel good about yourself.
People who have a good self-esteem
feel better about themselves
regarding who they are.
They appreciate their selfworth,
take great pride in their
accomplishments and their abilities. They
also acknowledge that they’re not perfect
and that they do have faults, however,
those faults don’t play overwhelming parts
in their self-image.
1
SELF-ESTEEM INVENTORY
Grab a sheet of paper and draw a
line down the center. On the right side of
the piece of paper, write out “strengths”
and on the left side, write out “weak-
nesses”. List at least 10 items under each
column. While this may seem like there
are more on the strengths side, force
yourself to find at least 10. If you can’t
find 10, consider what friends and family
have told you over the years. You’ll be
shocked at how many you can come up
with when you look at it from this angle.
This is your inventory of self-esteem. It will
show you all that you are good at as well as
what you’re not so good at. This inventory
will show you your weaknesses as well.
You’re the one that can choose to change
them one item at a time, over the course
of a month, several months or a year or
more. Keep in mind that you can’t expect
to change things all at once, it’s going to
take time.
2
BE REALISTIC
ABOUT EXPECTATIONS
Nothing will destroy your self-esteem
faster than setting unrealistic expectations.
While some expectations may be
smaller, they may still be unrealistic.
Keep them in check and if they’re disappointing,
your self-esteem will be thanking
you. This may help you to stop the
vicious cycle of negativity regarding your
negative self-esteem. When you’re setting
up realistic expectations, you’ll stop
letting yourself down for not meeting
your goals.
December 2017 15

3
SET ASIDE PERFECTION
Perfection isn’t obtainable for anyone.
You’ll never be perfect in your own
eyes, let alone anyone else’s, you’ll never
have the idealistic lifestyle that you’re
picturing, you’ll never have the perfect
child, relationship, home, etc. You’ll always
revel in perfection since the media
so readily portrays it. However, there’s not
any reality in that, it simply doesn’t exist.
So, grab your list of accomplishments as
you earn them. Acknowledge that you
have value. It might help if you list your
accomplishments in a journal. You may
even do this daily however, some just do
it weekly, it’s all up to you. The trick is to
see your goals and connect the dots in life.
It’s vital to take something back from any
mistakes you may have made so that you’ve
learned something. It doesn’t make you
a bad person, it means that you’ve made
mistakes, everyone does. Mistakes are the
opportunity to learn and grow, push past
the self-pity, and the negativity that you’re
wallowing in and move on.
4
EXPLORE AND
KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Know who you are and what you are, this
should be passed down from one generation
to the next in a form of self-exploration.
Typically, this is the time where you’re
well adjusted. It’s not about knowing your
own personal strengths and weaknesses,
but it’s also about knowing yourself and
opening your mind up to new opportunities
and thoughts and learning new perspectives
and viewpoints in your friendships.
16
December 2017

Often, when you’re going down memory lane, your self-esteem will take a hit and you will
feel that you’re not worth anything at all. It might be that you’ve just not yet found your
way and what you can contribute to society. You may not have recognized yet that all of
this is trial and error. Often, people become who they are from taking risks and trying
out things that they don’t normally do.
5
CHANGE YOUR SELF-IMAGE
Your self-image may be something
that you’ve focused on that is no longer you.
Adjust what you think about your strengths
and weaknesses and learn to go with the
flow of life. Evaluate your image based on
what is happening with your life at this moment
in time, not in the past, nor in the future.
Continually adjust your self-image and
your self-esteem in order to match your
current talents, skills, and abilities, not your
past skills, talents, and abilities.
December 2017 17

6
QUIT COMPARING
YOURSELF TO OTHERS
Nothing hurts your self-esteem more than
comparing yourself to others. Joe has over
3000 friends on Facebook and you only
have 300 friends. Mary outruns you every
time you play ball. Elizabeth’s husband
makes more money than yours and she
has a nice house and a nicer car than you
do. Of course you can clearly see how this
may impact your feelings of self-esteem,
however, it’s not how you should do it.
It’s hard, but don’t compare yourself to
others and their seemingly perfect lives.
The only person to compare yourself to
is yourself, it’s plain and simple. Such
comparisons aren’t fair, you really don’t
have all of the facts regarding others and
what their lives are like, what appears
to be perfect may not be perfect at all.
You may think it’s far superior to yours,
but it may actually be far worse than you
picture. Example, Joe may have paid for
his friends on Facebook, Mary’s parents
put her in sports training at the young
tender age of 3, and Elizabeth has a very
loveless marriage that seems to be perfect
and idyllic, yet, you don’t know this
or how they truly feel because they don’t
want you, or anyone else, to know what
the truth really is.
7 GREAT HOME REMEDIES FOR
GETTING RID OF
DRY EYE SYNDROME
by
David Baker
When you talk to
any optician,
they will inform
you that
dry eyes is one
of the most frequent complaints
they receive from
their patients. The National
Eye Institute says that
this very painful condition
mainly happens because
the tears aren’t of the right
consistency and evaporate
very fast. More often
than not, the dry eye syndrome
can be easily managed
and eliminated successfully.
Depending on
its cause and extent of severity,
however, it might
not be completely curable.
Some of the most common
signs and symptoms
of dry eyes are gritty feeling
in your eyes, burning
of the eyes, eye fatigue,
and heavy eyelids. Other
Follow Us:
Taking care of your eyes will help you avoid getting dry eyes. These 7 home
remedies can take you one step closer to getting rid of this condition.
symptoms include some episodes of blurred
vision, redness of your eyes, and pain when
you’re wearing contact lenses. While the
dry eye syndrome can be a great cause of
distress, there are many natural remedies
that can aid in alleviating the symptoms.
CAUSES OF DRY EYE SYNDROME
There is no single reason as to why you
could have dry eyes, but one of the most
prevalent reason is an imbalance in your
body’s tear-flow system. Mayo Clinic points
out that tear flow can be easily affected by
dry air, smoke, and wind. While dry eyes can
affect just anyone at any age, it is a condition
more prevalent in women. The chances
of developing this condition increase as
one ages, with the NHS estimating that at
least one in three people aged 65 years and
above will experience the dry eye syndrome.
Other common causes of the dry eye syndrome
are hormonal changes in women
with pregnancy or menopause, wearing
contact lenses and some medical conditions
like diabetes. Dry eyes could also
occur as a result of vitamin A deficiency
and thyroid disorders, certain drugs such
as birth control pills, anti-depressants,
and antihistamine, prolonged periods
of not blinking and laser eye surgeries.
When not treated, dry itchy eyes could
result in ulcers, elevate the risk of more
serious infections and in the worst case
scenario, loss of sight. While the loss of
eyesight is not common, you should not
take any chances with this condition. Dry
eye syndrome can make the execution of
certain tasks like driving, using a laptop
or reading for a long time painful, miserable
and difficult.
December 2017 23

1
ALWAYS HYDRATE
The dry eyes condition could be a telltale
indicator that you are dehydrated and
that you’re not taking sufficient fluids, especially
water. Prevention Magazine claims
that taking a lot of water aids in retaining the
moisture of the mucous membrane around
the eye. While doctors recommend 8 to 10
glasses of water daily, you might want to
drink more to stay hydrated. Hydration is
particularly important if you’re a regular
coffee drinker or live in a windy climate.
To keep your body hydrated, you must be
sure to drink more than 8 glasses of water
in a day. You should also eliminate excess
salt from your daily diet in addition to reducing
the intake of alcohol, caffeine, and
high-protein foods.
2
CLEAN YOUR EYELIDS FOR RELIEF
While you are rarely concerned
about your eyelids, keeping them clean
aids them to function properly. If you want
to reduce eye inflammation and irritation,
you must develop a regular cleaning routine.
By cleaning your eyelids, you will be
removing oils and debris lodged around
your eyelashes. This not only aids in reducing
the number of bacteria around your
eyelids but also relieves red itchy eyes.
Just wet a piece of cloth with warm water
and wipe your eyes for 5 minutes. Lather
your hands with a mild, eye-safe cleaning
solution or soap. After that, you can use
your fingers to massage the cleaning solution
onto your eyelids, rinse then after the
massage and pat them dry.
24
December 2017

3
YOU CAN TRY A WARM COMPRESS
According to experts at Health Line, using a warm water compress
can help relieve sore eyes. It also aids in releasing some of the oils present
in the eyelid glands. Moreover, it helps improve the quality of tears.
To prepare a warm compress, you will need to boil some water and leave it to cool until
it is lukewarm. Soak an eye pad or clean flannel in the lukewarm water and gently place
the pad or flannel on your eyes for about 10 minutes. You can reheat the compress when
it starts getting cold by soaking it in some lukewarm water then reapply onto your eyes.
4
COCONUT OIL EYE SALVATION
There is virtually nothing that coconut
oil cannot do. Due to the fatty
acids present, coconut oil can be crucial
in alleviating the symptoms of dry
eyes by functioning as the much-needed
moisturizing agent for the eyes.
Coconut oil could also be used as a
lubricant that helps fight eye inflammation.
Natural eye-lubricating drops are no longer
in existence and this is what you should
do. Soak a cotton ball in the oil and place
it on your closed eyelids, and leave it for
10 minutes. Repeat this process at regular
intervals all day.
December 2017 25

5
USE CASTOR OIL
In the year 2002, a study published
on Ophthalmology indicated that
castor oil drops are a safe and effective
way of treating meibomian gland function,
which is one of the main causes of
dry eye syndrome. Castor oil is composed
of ricinoleic acid that acts as an anti-inflammatory
agent. This aids in relieving
irritation, itching, pain, and burning associated
with dry eyes. Besides, castor
oil can aid in reducing tear evaporation.
If you want to use this home remedy,
you must be sure to purchase an organic
and pure oil. Use an eye dropper to
place a single drop of the oil in every eye.
This process must be repeated twice a
day to keep your eyes moisturized and
minimize redness.
6
ALWAYS HAVE
YOUR SUNGLASSES ON
If your dry eye syndrome is a result of the
environment you live in, maybe a hot or
dry climate, sunglasses can help improve
the condition. And if you will wear the
sunglasses, go for a pair that will block
all the sun’s ultraviolet rays. According
to the NEI, a pair of dark sunglasses with
some side shields is perfect for minimizing
tear evaporation from your eyes.
You should invest in a special pair of
sunglasses if you’re an individual living
with the dry eye syndrome. If you’re not
suffering from the chronic dry eye syndrome,
wearing the normal shades any
time you go outside will definitely protect
your eyes from dust, wind and any
other irritants.
26
December 2017

7
BLINK FREQUENTLY
One of the main causes of the dry eye
syndrome is infrequent blinking. And due
to their exposure to screens, many people
do not blink as much as they should. Blinking
helps maintain the right moisture level
on the surface of the eye while at the same
time moisturizing and cleaning the eye.
Under normal conditions, the average
person’s blinking rate is 15 times
in a minute. When you glare at a bright
screen, the blinking rate can reduce to
70% of the normal rate. Close both eyes
for 2 seconds and open them. Close
the eyes again and pause for 2 seconds
then squeeze them tightly for about 2
seconds then open them again. This
should be repeated 20 minutes severally
in a day until your symptoms improve.
Common dry eye conditions can be very
painful. While there could be the temptation
to go for the closest eye drops, you
will not be doing your eyes any favors.
Eye drops only mask the dryness rather
than treating the underlying problem. Eye
drops could also be expensive and some
even contain chemicals. You should,
however, try the natural remedies.
The eyes are undoubtedly one of the
most essential parts of the body.
They are very easy to take care of with
some simple remedies. Be sure not to
neglect your eyes.
3 TIPS THAT CAN
ELIMINATE
CHRONIC PAIN
by
Follow Us:
Chuck Meriwether
If you’d like to know how to eliminate chronic pain, then these 3 rules will help
you find relief while making the transition devoid of physical pain.
One of the great things about
the human body is the fact
that it has the ability to sound
alarms if something is wrong.
Commonly, we will refer to
this feedback as a ‘symptom’ which needs
to be eliminated rather than seeking to
eliminate what caused the symptom to occur
by using some type a man made drug.
Doing this is like short-circuiting the electrical
system in your home just so the smoke detector
will stop sounding it’s annoying alarm
but doing nothing about the fire. If you can
recognize the insanity of that and you want
instead to truly eliminate the cause of your
chronic pain there are some rules that you
will want to follow. While you are working to
eliminate the cause, there are natural painkillers
that can help with the pain. Approaching
it this way can lead to the complete elimination
of chronic pain once and for all.
FOODS TO AVOID
To get started, there are some
foods that you will want to remove from
your regular diet for a period of about
60 to 90 days. These foods have been
found to exacerbate chronic pain. Some
of the reasons why these foods are problematic
include the fact that they are
known to cause inflammation as well as
being difficult on the digestive system.
Among the foods that you’ll want to avoid
are grains that contain gluten, sugar, all
types of dairy, all forms of flower, and
alcohol. Caffeine is another problematic
substance that should be avoided and
this includes energy drinks, soda, and coffee
and in addition to those items it’s also
recommended that you stay away from
peanuts and other nuts and seeds that are
not soaked, soy products that are unfermented,
corn, canola, and anything that
has man-made additives such as TBHQ,
nitrates, artificial flavors and sweeteners,
MSG, trans fats, maltodextrin, or artificial
colors. Try not to drink from plastic containers
or to be in areas that are badly polluted,
and avoid stress.
2
FOODS THAT CLEANSE
It has been said that food is medicine
and when you consume the right
foods, it can eliminate persistent pain
but many of these foods are passed over
for addictive, processed foods. The good
news is that for those who are willing to
put in the effort to start including more
of the following foods will soon find that
their chronic pain disappears. The food
you’ll want to include are lots of leafy
green vegetables, cabbage, broccoli, garlic,
cauliflower, sea vegetables, onions,
limes, apples, berries, and lemons. Some
other items you should include are coconut
oil, aloe vera, fermented vegetables,
turmeric, hot peppers, soaked chia,
ginger, hemp, as well as herbal teas.
The list above is not complete. It is, however,
a good list to start with for those
with chronic pain. You will also want to
make sure that you supplement vitamin
D3 as well as omega-3 fatty acids along
with learning to relax and take time to get
out in natural environments.
3
NATURAL PAINKILLERS
Once you begin to transition from suffering from chronic pain
to a more pain-free lifestyle you will want to work with your doctor
to reduce or even eliminate any of your prescription medications.
There are several painkillers that are completely natural and they include
boswellia, turmeric, astaxanthin. These reduce pain by eliminating
inflammation and other problems that are causing the pain.
There are many reasons why some people suffer from chronic pain. Following
the recommendations above will help most to formulate a system
that will effectively reduce pain over time. This will lead to a significantly
better life.
plays a vital role in maintaining a balanced diet and supplying your
body with energy throughout the day. People tend to focus too much
on the primary meals of the day instead of what they eat in between.
Because of this, snacks aren’t given a lot of attention and old habits remain unchanged.
You should familiarize yourself with delicious and healthy snacks, ones that won’t add to
those stubborn pounds and do not require lengthy preparation time. The following are
five excellent snacks that will provide your body with much needed energy.
INCREASE ENERGY WITH HUMMUS
Hummus consists of chickpeas, lemon
juice, olive oil, garlic and salt, and it has been
increasingly popular over the years. It’s a
protein rich food, making it effective at fighting
hunger. What’s great about hummus is
that it keeps you full despite its low-calorie
count, something that most snacks couldn’t
boast of. Hummus is also known for boosting
energy, thanks to its rich supply of iron.
It makes for a delicious dip with vegetables
such as celery and carrots. If you prefer,
you can use it as a spread as well to
make your whole wheat pita bread or crackers
yummier. You can even do your own
experiment and come up with different
hummus flavors.
2
SUPPRESS HUNGER
WITH GREEK YOGURT
Greek yogurt is best known for its high
protein content, so it’s an excellent choice
to keep hunger at bay. Take note that you
can choose between two types of Greek
yogurt: fat-free and full fat. The type you
choose primarily depends on the level of
control you want to have over your diet.
Regardless of what you pick, both prove to
be a great source of protein. The key difference
is that full-fat Greek yogurt comes
from full-fat milk while its fat-free counterpart
uses skimmed milk. If you want to
control your calorie and fat intake, then
you will want to use the fat-free option at
the cost of some creaminess.
STOCK UP ON VITAMINS
WITH BLUEBERRIES
If you ask any health-conscious person
you know, they will probably tell you that
blueberries are among their favorite superfoods.
Blueberries make for perfect
snacks since they are high in antioxidants
yet low in calories, while also containing
a healthy dose of vitamin C and fiber. In
case you don’t like the taste, then you
may want to try strawberries or raspberries
because of their sweeter taste although
their energy-boosting properties
aren’t as good as blueberries.
4
RELIEVE CRAVINGS
WITH HARD-BOILED EGGS
Used alongside a variety of dishes, hardboiled
eggs are packed with protein and
known for relieving hunger pangs almost
in an instant. It’s a good idea to prepare
some lunchbox salad which you can bring
to work so you can enjoy a healthy snack
and avoid the temptation of consuming
too many sweets. Just be sure to take it
easy on the dressing!
5
REACH YOUR DAILY NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS WITH SOY CRISPS
If you can’t help but give in to your cravings, then you might want something that
doesn’t look and taste like healthy food such as soy crisps. These tasty crisps are made
from soy flour instead of potatoes. More importantly, they don’t contain trans fats which
negatively impact your cholesterol levels. Soy crisps are abundant in essential nutrients
including protein, which allows you to enjoy a quick energy boost while indulging your
cravings as well.
2:00 pm. Caffeine takes a very long time to
leave your body, and even longer for the
caffeine buzz to fade away.
2
DON’T EAT 4 HOURS
BEFORE BEDTIME
It’s vital to not eat too late in the day.
TIPS TO GET
YOUR CHILD TO
LISTEN AND
BEHAVE BETTER
by
David Baker
Follow Us:
Read these 6 sound advice on getting your child to listen, so you’ll learn how
to get their attention and have them connect and show respect to you.
Anyone with a child knows how
difficult it can be to get your
child to pay attention at times.
Instilling good behavior in your
child can be a real challenge,
but luckily there are some ways to make
the task less daunting. Here are 6 tips that
will get you on track.
1
LOOK IN YOUR CHILD’S
EYES WHILE SPEAKING
The best way to get your child to pay
attention to you is to talk while looking
directly in his or her eyes. If possible,
sit down while your child is standing
in front of you so that you’re eye level
with your little one. If the two of you are
facing one another, it’ll be easier to get your
child’s attention and keep that attention.
You need to make sure your child is focusing
on you and not looking around the
room at possible distractions. Be persistent
with this type of approach. You’ll need to
hold your child responsible for any poor
decisions he or she makes, such as not
listening to you.
2
ALWAYS MAKE
THE OBJECTIVE CLEAR
Don’t keep going over the same issue.
Make it clear the first time that you have
specific expectations and that you want
the rules to be followed. If you’re consistent
enough, you should start making progress.
Everyone in your child’s life should
work together to make sure the rules are
followed, including your significant other,
the child’s grandparents, and any teachers.
If each person has different rules, your
child may start to feel confused. Don’t forget
to let your child know when he or she is
doing something good. It’s important to be
consistent at rewarding good behavior, too.
52
December 2017

3
MEAN EVERYTHING YOU SAY TO YOUR CHILD
You should make sure your child understands that you’re not playing around when
you tell him or her to do something. If your child isn’t listening even after you’ve given
him or her a warning, you should take swift action by following through with the timeout.
You may feel like you constantly must put your child in timeout, but it’s the easiest way
to ensure that he or she learns valuable lessons over time.
4
SET THE MESSAGE STRAIGHT
Be repetitive when getting your message
across. It’s not uncommon for toddlers
to ignore adults who are trying to tell
them what to do. Simply ask your child to
do something, give him or her one more
chance, and then start counting down. You
may even want to ask your child to tell you
what you just said to him or her to make
sure the message is clear.
5
LEAD BY EXAMPLE
If you want your child to be a good
listener and behave appropriately, you
should always lead by example. Listen to
your child when he or she is talking to you
about different things, such as what went
on at school. Your child will notice the good
manners you have and he or she will likely
start emulating that behavior.
6
DON’T GIVE UP
Remember that things may be tough
now, but it won’t always be this difficult
to get your little one to listen to you. Your
child will have some good days and some
bad days. Even on those bad days, be persistent,
push through, and continue to show
your child how to have manners because
one day all this work will certainly pay off.
DON’T HOLD GRUDGES
Forgive those that have wronged you.
When you don’t, you are harming yourself
emotionally and making it difficult to move
on. Talk to those that you were avoiding.
Make amends and be willing to hear those
people out and accept their apologies.
Start the new year fresh so that your relationships
can flourish in 2018.
2
GET OUTSIDE
One study indicated that if you go
outside for 20 minutes per day, you’ll feel
better, stay healthier and feel more energetic
than if you remained inside. That
seems pretty obvious. When you are
outside, you are more likely to be active
and you also benefit from both fresh air
and sunlight. You also get to experience
nature, which helps to improve your mood.
3
GET RID OF STUFF
Choose an area of your life where
you have a lot of clutter, like your clothes
closet or even your purse. Get rid of anything
that you don’t need. Don’t spend a
lot of time thinking about your choices and
aim to be done in half an hour or less. You
may feel a little shell shocked at how much
you are giving up in the beginning, but
you will soon feel good about all the fresh
space you have acquired.
58
December 2017

4
BE GENEROUS
When you give to others, you’ll get it
back in numerous ways. One study examined
the brains of those who got help when
working on a math problem and those that
did the helping. The helper’s brains lit up
in areas that had to do with caregiving and
reward and, more importantly, deactivated
in places that had to do with stress. If
you help others, you will feel good as a result.
Look for ways that you can benefit the
world around you and consider joining an
organization focused on doing good.
5
GET THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF SLEEP
It is important to get enough rest at
night. So many Americans have difficulty
going to sleep and staying asleep, however.
It is one of the reasons that there
is more depression, anxiety, heart failure
and obesity in this nation. You can help
yourself get enough rest at night by setting
a bedtime schedule, drinking less caffeine,
putting away the screens before bed and
making sure you aren’t too active right before
it is time to go to bed.
6
CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS
If you allow yourself to engage in
negative thinking, you are going to spend
2018 needlessly stressed out. When you
think the worst all the time, you won’t be
able to enjoy life as it happens, and you
will be less effective in an emergency. Instead,
“change the channel” in your brain
whenever you start to think negatively, and
instead tell yourself that everything is fine,
you can work through it, or you have support
to help you get through. Deep breathing
techniques can also be effective.
BE HAPPY
Laughing is good for your soul.
It can even burn calories! Laughing is
good for your emotional health as well.
It connects people, helps stop arguments
and makes you feel better overall.
Look for opportunities to have fun and
laugh. Watch a funny movie. Go to a game
night. Laughter will help you have one of
the best years yet!
5 POINTERS ON DEALING WITH YOUR
ANGER IN A
HEALTHY WAY
by
David Baker
Follow Us:
If you’re looking for information on how to channel your anger then these 5
tips will help you get up to speed and rid yourself of dark emotions.
One of the buzz
phrases in today’s
society is
“positive psychology,”
and
if you look the term up on
the Internet, you’ll see a lot
of information on how to
be happier, healthier and
more in touch with your
feelings. Life is busy, so it
makes sense to focus on
positive emotions. However,
that is only one part of
a very important process.
In order to reach your goals,
you need to get in touch
with your happy emotions,
but you also need to understand
that you will have
unhappy emotions and that
you need to deal with those
in a positive way. Think
about anger, for instance.
Studies show that anger
can lead to creativity, job
success and personal suc-
cess. Therefore, it is important to feel anger.
You shouldn’t try to ignore your negative
emotions but you also can’t give into
them on a whim. There are ways to positively
express your anger. These tips can
help you:
1
DETERMINE IF YOU
SHOULD SHARE IT
Sometimes it is a good idea to share your
anger, and other times, it is better if you
keep it to yourself. There are situations
where expressing your anger is not going
to help you or anyone else. In order
to best manage your anger, you must
figure out when you should share it and
when you need to deal with it quietly.
There are situations that you can impact
in some way, and there are other events
that you will have absolutely no impact
on. For example, if you go on vacation
and you misplace the power cord to
your cell phone, there is nothing you can
do about it, so showing your anger isn’t
going to help. However, if you are at a
mechanic shop and you feel you are getting
an unfair price, you may be able to
change the outcome by expressing anger at
an appropriate level.
December 2017 65

2
KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT
Anger can be used to your advantage,
but it also has the ability to cloud your
judgment and keep you from getting your
point across. If you want to express your
anger effectively, but you don’t want to experience
some of the negative side effects,
you need to think through what could happen
before it actually happens. You must
admit what anger does to you. In doing
so, you help yourself know what to expect.
Tell the people around you what you are
feeling, and explain to them that you
might have trouble expressing yourself
as a result. Let them know that you are
sorry for the fact that there may be some
confusion about what you are trying to
say, but never apologize for what you are
feeling or doing. Saying all this is meant
to help the other people understand what
you are going through so they are not as
defensive. When another person is told
that you are struggling to communicate,
they are more likely to receive you in
a positive manner.
3
TAKE YOUR TIME
If you are really angry, it is hard to
take the time to stop and think about what
is going on, but in order to use your anger
to your advantage, you need to try your
best to slow down. Anger can rush out
of you or trickle out of you, and it is important
to know the difference. If you feel
angry emotions, take a second to collect
yourself, even if you have someone right
in front of you. It is fine to tell that individual
that you are taking a moment as well.
When you are upset, you can get a lot more
from the situation if you think first and
then act later. It’s not necessarily about
calming down. It’s about making sure you
have a lot of options in front of you, even
when you are really angry.
4
KEEP AN EYE ON THE SITUATION
You need to get a handle on your anger and which path to take before you start
to communicate, but that isn’t the only time. As you continue talking, you need to be in
touch with your emotions and also watch out for how the conversation is impacting the
other person. Continue to monitor what is going on by consistently asking yourself if
your anger is having a positive impact on a difficult situation or not.
5
KEEP CONTROL
If you let your anger get out of control,
you are going to get into trouble. It is
important to make sure that you don’t let
things go too far. Constantly monitor your
anger to figure out if it is staying the same,
increasing or decreasing. You can even rate
yourself on a scale and use some descriptive
words to reinforce how you are feeling.
For example, rating yourself on a scale
of 1 to 10 is usually effective, as 1 means
that you are completely calm and 10 means
you feel like you are going to explode.
If you feel yourself losing control, you need
to take steps to keep it in check. Take a few
deep breaths, for example. Monitor how
you are feeling and how the change in your
emotions changes how you feel toward the
other person.
NATURAL
REMEDIES TO
KNOW ABOUT
FOR DEPRESSION
AND ANXIETY
Read these 7 steps to fighting depression and anxiety and learn new ways to
cope and resolve emotional difficulties so you can live a stress-free life.
Chronic depression and anxiety
are being diagnosed more and
more frequently. But, natural
remedies for depression only
have limited audience. Besides,
anxiety and depression, there comes
a conventional treatment for anyone who
seeks professional help. These treatments
are usually in the form of antidepressants
like SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptakes
inhibitors and SSNIs or selective
serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake
inhibitors. These drugs and prescriptions
for them have increased incredibly in
many developed nations since the 1980s.
There are people from every socioeconomic
group who take antidepressants including
children. In the United States, the amount
of prescriptions for antidepressants have
increased to 400% more since 1988. The
number of prescriptions has doubled
since then in both Canada and Australia.
HOW ANTIDEPRESSANTS WORK
It is believed that antidepressants work
by stimulating serotonin, melatonin, norepinephrine,
epinephrine, dopamine and
other hormones. With the SSRIs or SSNIs,
the chemicals in the drugs keep neuroreceptors
from re-absorption so that hormones
remain in the brain longer. One
of the most common side effects of taking
SSRIs or SSNIs is no relief from depression
until weeks later following the
initial increase in serotonin. This is a
complex puzzle and researchers themselves
do not really know how the drugs work.
THE CAUSES OF DEPRESSION
There are many things that cause depression
and several are still not known.
It is a fact that people who have clinical
depression have lower serotonin in
their brains, but this remains a symptom
and not a cause of depression. One
thing that does cause depression, which
is surprising, is gastrointestinal health.
Nearly 90% of the body’s serotonin is not
made in the brain but, rather, in the intestines.
An effective way to treat depression
has to do with taking anything but
the medicines that affect the brain’s neurochemicals.
It is natural to get sad in life
from time to time because life is difficult
for everyone once in a while. Chronic depression
works differently because it occurs
for months or years and is a debilitation
condition. Here are natural remedies
that help fight depression.
1
HEAL YOUR GUT
The digestive system has a local nervous
system that is also referred to as the
enteric nervous system or ENS. The small
intestine has lots of functions and the ENS
works to manage digestion, secretion, motility,
and inflammation. The enteric nervous
system manages the major enteric
performances like immunity, nutrient detection,
microvascular circulation, the secretion
of fluids, ions, bioactive peptides
and immunity response. The ENS can also
be called a second brain and it is part of
the peripheral nervous system which is
also connected to the brain and the central
nervous system. Research has found
that there are inextricable connections between
gastrointestinal health and mood.
Any imbalance, irritable bowel syndrome,
leaky gut or bacterial problem in the digestive
system impacts feelings of depression,
anxiety, and mood. Stomach microbes indicate
one’s ability to handle stress early
on in life. Psychological stressors put pressure
on the stomach’s microbiota. Probiotics
can improve digestion and relieve anxiety,
depression, and stress.
2
GET PROPER NUTRIENTS
Humans need many nutrients for
the entire body to work in harmony so
there is a reason that nature provides so
many food sources. If you miss out on
any nutrients, your body’s process will not
work well. Antidepressants rob the body
of B-vitamins, magnesium, and CoQ10
which is an essential enzyme. Magnesium
deficiency is fast becoming the most obvious
reason for depression in people.
Neurotransmitters need nutrition to function
efficiently and they rely on amino acids
like glutamine and tryptophan along with
minerals like copper, iron, zinc, B-vitamins,
and magnesium. Foods that can provide
these naturally include leafy greens, whole
grains, cheeses, yogurts, broccoli, poultry,
and fish. When you add spices and herbs
that reduce inflammation you will also promote
clarity and calmness.
3
GETTING THE PROPER FATTY ACIDS
Healthy fats are needed by the brain
for health. Fish oil has both eicosapentaenoic
acid or EPA and DHA which is docosahexaenoic
acid - and both are known to
help brain function. Fish oil varies in quality.
It is important to get a ratio of 1:6 in
EPA to DHA as well as freshness. Studies
have shown that omega-3 fatty acids relieve
depression because of their nutrients
and their ability to relieve inflammation.
74
December 2017

4
HEAL THE ADRENAL GLANDS
There are small adrenal glands on
top of your kidneys that produce neurotransmitters
and release stress hormones.
Emotional or physical chronic
stress, poor sleep, and poor nutrition can
cause adrenal fatigue, which can also end
up becoming adrenal insufficiency. Lifestyle
stress is a huge factor in depression.
When it is chronic, stress causes problems
for the adrenals. They will not produce the
thing your body needs to be healthy. If you
have low energy, bad moods, changes in
appetite or weight, a decrease in sex drive
or muscle weakness, you can bet that depression
will end up becoming the biggest
symptom of your adrenal fatigue.
5
LEARN ABOUT
MIND-BODY MEDICINE
Disciplines that bring body and mind together
have been found to reduce stress,
relieve anxiety and improve depression.
These include meditation, qigong, yoga
and Tai Chi all of which help the body
and mind come into focus for health. The
Journal of Alternative and Complementary
Medicine released details on a study
that showed scientific evidence that acupuncture
is more effective than SSRIs at
reducing depression. Another mind-body
medicine like visualization is a tool that
trains the mind to focus on pleasant images,
positive thoughts and at the same
time relieve stress. You feel what you focus
your attention on.
6
PRACTICE MINDFULNESS
This is a condition where you become
aware of your surroundings, your thoughts
you’re your physical feelings without judging
yourself. You can see yourself with
objectivity and this promotes emotional
balance. Mindfulness has been known
to treat depression, anxiety, and stress.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
helps people who suffer overcome depression
and unhappiness. It combines both
cognitive therapy practice techniques with
meditation and cultivates mindfulness.
The heart of this therapy is with one’s ability
to be aware of the modes of mentality
that characterize our mood disorders
while learning to handle them differently.
MBCT clinical trials show that it reduces
depression relapses by 50 percent. Mindfulness
helps increase mental awareness
and attention to opening one’s potential to
transform negative thoughts into positive
ones with physical benefits.
7
GET COUNSELING
It helps to have someone to talk to.
Friends are wonderful, but if you have more
intricate problems, you may not find it easy
to discuss these with friends or loved ones.
Seek the help of a professional counselor
who can listen and offer your techniques
to overcome your problems. Find someone
you feel you have a good rapport and your
counselor will help you immeasurably. Counseling
along with diet and lifestyle changes
are the best ways to beat depression.
It is also beneficial to have a therapeutic relationship
in addition to taking medication
alone for obvious reasons but it is recommended,
too, because these medications
can cause side effects. CBT or Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy is a great therapy to immerse
oneself in as it can bring transformation
with the change of perception about a
problem or thought pattern. This is a great
type of therapy to combine with psychotherapy
and behavioral therapy. Many studies
have demonstrated how effective CBT is.
Anxiety and depression do not happen
overnight. Learn new ways to cope with
stress and apply healthy diet and lifestyle
changes. Use several natural methods at
once and you will find that it helps heal depression
in a much different way than pharmaceuticals
because they set a person up
for a true healing.
3 HERBS
THAT CAN
Low testosterone can cause health problems for both men and women. Here’s
how to boost your testosterone levels naturally and safely.
Both women and men can suffer from a problem with low testosterone at times.
Most women are not familiar with the issue and when she is experiencing a lack
of testosterone, she may have a difficulty becoming pregnant. Both men and
women have a higher risk of heart issues (including heart attack), dementia,
osteoporosis, and andropause if they continue to have low testosterone levels.
TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT TESTOSTERONE
In women, the ovaries produce testosterone, which is a type of steroid and in men, it is
the testes and the adrenal glands produce it in both men and women but throughout
your whole life, it is produced as needed. Cholesterol is the parent compound for steroid
hormones and a number of these hormones are produced within the body and affected
in different ways. Studies have not been
able to fully produce information about
the benefits of synthetic testosterone replacement
therapy so if you have low testosterone,
regardless of whether you are a
man or a woman, it is important to undergo
testing and look for ways to naturally boost
your testosterone levels. The following can
help you to boost your testosterone naturally
when you use them as needed.
1
USE HORNY GOAT WEED
The Chinese herb known as horny
goat weed is often used for boosting testosterone
in both women and men. Icariin
is the primary constituent that has
that effect within the herb. According to
some studies, horny goat weed may not
boost testosterone but it does mimic the
way that testosterone affects the body.
On its own, horny goat weed can be used
for problems with your libido and that is
often associated with low testosterone
levels. The evidence associated with the
benefits of horny goat weed causes many
natural therapists to give it to their patient
and it may help to reduce numbness
and tingling in the limbs, regulate menstruation,
combat urination frequency
and improve the memory. Taking between
3-9 g in the form of a tea is the typical
suggested dosage.
2
TRIBULUS TERRESTRIS CAN HELP
Traditional medicine in India and
China have used trib for hundreds of
years for a variety of reasons. According
to studies that have recently been performed
on animals and were published
in 2008, this herb can boost your testosterone
levels in a natural way. In addition
to boosting testosterone, it can also
boost your libido which may be associ-
ated with low testosterone as well. According to some sources, individuals with erectile
dysfunction and poor sports performance may also benefit from using this herb.
Bodybuilders will often use this herb, particularly when they work out to the extreme.
Some sources claim it can help to increase energy and improve recovery time along
with boosting protein synthesis, nitrogen balance and giving your workout a well-needed
boost. The part of this herb that is thought to mimic this biological activity is a type of
steroid found within the plant and it is thought that it causes the testosterone like benefits
you may experience.
3
YOU CAN USE
BULBINE NATALENSIS
Originally found in South Africa but now found
elsewhere, this herb has shown an increase
in testosterone levels in animals by up to
350%! One such study took place at the South
African University of Ford Hare and it showed
that testosterone levels were increased when
using this herb. Additional research showed
that participants who used between 25 and
50 mg/kg of their body weight showed the
benefit of increased testosterone levels.
Both men and women need testosterone in
their bodies. If you have a health problem,
it may be due to a lack of testosterone so
it should not be overlooked as a root cause
of that issue. In addition, one hormone being
out of balance can lead to additional
imbalances in your other hormones.
Having your hormones fully checked is a
wise decision because it can help to identify
health issues and offers options for effective
treatments. Each individual may need
their own type of treatment. It is always best
to seek medical advice from a professional
for trying these or any other herbs because
they may interact with other medications
that you are using.
12 AGGRESSION SIGNS
YOU SHOULD KNOW
by
Follow Us:
Chuck Meriwether
If you’re looking for info on aggression, then these 12 tips will help you identify
the signs of aggression so you can adjust your behavior accordingly.
If you are like
most people,
you envision
fighting and
shouting when
you think of aggression. In
reality, aggression is something
that takes place when
you have to have your way
and you don’t care about
the feelings of others. Aggression
comes in a number
of different categories.
It is also sometimes easy
to see but at other times,
it may be hidden beneath
the surface and it employs
manipulation. If you come
into contact with an aggressive
person, recognizing
the aggression is the
first step in dealing with it.
You need to consider the
aggression from your own
point of view. Perhaps
you have experienced this
when you start to get irritated
during a discussion
and before you know it, you
are acting in an aggressive
manner. It is often possible
to calm down and take
an assertive stand if you
recognize the problem in it’s early stages.
Some of the more common signs of aggression
are listed below. Not everyone who is
aggressive will show these signs but when
you are familiar with them, you can see the
aggressive tendencies in others and make
any adjustments necessary.
1
THEY ARE IN IT FOR THEMSELVES
Most people who are aggressive are
also selfish. They only care about what they
want or need and nobody else has a say in
the matter. Most of them will usually start
a sentence by saying “I want” or “I need.”
2
THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT
HOW THINGS AFFECT THEM
Things are going to go wrong in this life but
an aggressive person will only think about
the impact it will have on them. They don’t
really care how others might be impacted by
the same issue. In addition, they will often
drag people down to their level and if something
bad happens, they want it to happen to
everyone. When an aggressive person has a
problem, they want to share it with everyone.
88
December 2017

3
THEY REFUSE TO BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING
An aggressive person will rarely want to
deal with the consequences of their actions.
They will do what they can to shift the blame
to others. When a person is assertive, they
look for solutions by accepting responsibility
and looking for a solution. Aggressive
people play the blame game and do not
want to take responsibility for their actions.
You may feel that it is sometimes appropriate
to point out any mistakes that could
have lead to the problem. More than likely,
however, aggressive people will find their
way out of that revelation. They feel that
admitting responsibility is weak and will
automatically take a defensive stance.
4
THE FEEL THAT
EVERYTHING THEY SAY IS FACT
Any type of assertive discussion will automatically
look to separate facts from opinions.
You might bring up your own viewpoint
or perhaps a suggestion from what
is being discussed. This is typically a good
thing. When the same situation happens
with an aggressive person they escalate
things. They consider their opinion to be
fact and nothing else matters.
December 2017 89

5
THEY USE AGGRESSIVE QUESTIONING
When you are discussing things with others, it is best if you ask for their opinion
and welcome their viewpoint. The same discussion will be quickly shut down by
an aggressive person and no other input will be accepted. When an aggressive
question is asked, it is usually pointed, brief and is done in an authoritative voice.
At times, aggressive questions can be hard to identify. If they were to interject the question
during the discussion it might be considered a useful comment. On the other hand,
aggressive questions are usually designed to control the conversation and the perception
of others by coming in at the beginning of the conversation.
6
THEY MAKE DEMANDS
IN AN AGGRESSIVE MANNER
An aggressive demand is designed to keep
the other person from backing out of a request
and it often is given in a threatening
manner. Sometimes, these aggressive
demands can be subtile, so you should be
on the lookout for them. Some may even
appear to be a request for a favor but they
leave the conversation before you can reply.
They aren’t giving you the chance to
say no. It is a type of aggression that is
subtle in its approach.
7
THEY SUBVERT OTHER PEOPLE
In some cases, aggressive people will
knock down other people to make themselves
appear a little better. They may
do this in a number of ways but typically,
they try to put others in a difficult situation
so they can mock them and make
them appear weak. These tactics are often
used to make the other person appear
inadequate for a task. They want to
keep other people from putting any confidence
in those they are targeting. If they
are also able to hurt that person’s self-esteem
then they consider it to be a bonus.
Subverting others may take on many forms,
including: leaving the other person high
and dry by forcing them to give a presentation
at the last moment, emailing everyone
about a task that hasn’t been completed
rather than asking a subordinate directly,
or setting people up for failure by asking
them to perform a difficult task and then
not providing any support.
90
December 2017

8
THEY GIVE ADVICE IN ORDER
TO MANIPULATE OTHERS
When you look at it, this is not really giving
advice. It is giving orders to others and
then making it look as if you are providing
advice. The person who receives this “advice”
is not asked to provide an opinion or
given the option of disagreeing. They are
simply supposed to follow the so-called
advice and be happy with it.
9
THEY SPEAK RAPIDLY
TO MANIPULATE
An aggressive person will often speak
quickly without pausing. Their aim is to
voice their opinion and to do so without
giving anyone else an opportunity to interject
their input. They control the entire
discussion and want the other person
to hear their opinion, regardless of the
feelings of others.
THEY TALK LOUD TO
MAKE OTHERS APPEAR GUILTY
When an aggressive person speaks they
want to be heard. They don’t want others
to talk over or talk down to them and
they let others know it. They speak loud
at all times but when they want to emphasize
part of the discussion they take their
voice up a notch, especially when they
are blaming others.
THEY TALK AGGRESSIVELY
AND LISTEN DEFENSIVELY
You can often see this in their body language
when their aggression comes out.
They will lean forward when talking.
Other actions can include pointing, using
emphatic gestures and protesting.
When anyone else has the opportunity
to talk they will often get defensive and
cross their arms.
December 2017 91

THEY MAKE
AGGRESSIVE EYE CONTACT
If you ever wonder if someone is staring at
you or just staring right through you then
you are probably dealing with an aggressive
person. When they are staring in this way
then you are the focus and they are blaming
you for all of their problems. They are
ready for a fight and when you are in that
position, you stare down your opponent.
The best option you have when dealing
with an aggressive person or if that person
is you is to learn how to communicate
properly. When people come together with
a degree of mutual respect and look for
ways to work through any issues it is the
root of good communication and relationships.
It may not always be possible to meet
in the middle but when you are looking for
the benefit of everyone involved it often
leads to a good compromise; aggressive
tendencies are not part of this equation.
When someone does not have the interest
of another person in mind then aggression
takes place. They only want their own
needs and desires met and they don’t care
how things turn out for others. Aggression
is often at the root of unhealthy conflict
and it can kill a relationship. By knowing
the signs of aggression, you can see if you
or someone else is acting in this manner.
At that point, you can adjust the situation,
including your own behavior to stop a conflict
from occurring.
7 UNMISTAKABLE SIGNS
OF APPENDICITIS YOU
SHOULDN’T IGNORE
by
David Baker
Follow Us:
If you want information on appendicitis, then make sure you take the time to
read this article on the straightforward symptoms of this condition.
It’s likely that you or someone
you know has suffered from
appendicitis during their adolescence
or childhood years.
People rarely talk about it but
the condition affects thousands in the US
every year. At least 250,000 surgeries to remove
the appendix (appendicitis) are performed
in the US every year. Here’s what
you need to know about the conditions, the
symptoms and how it actually feels like.
THE APPENDIX
It is a part of the digestive tract that sits
between the large and small intestine.
Therefore, you can feel it on the lower
right side of your abdomen. The appendix
is about 4 inches long and very
thin. There are some people whose appendix
is found just behind the colon.
Although everyone has one, numerous
medical practitioners are unsure about its
function. Most people believe it’s what remained
after our digestive tract evolved
over the years since the earlier species had a
very different diet. There’s also a belief that
it contains important bacteria that boost
the immune system and help digestion. Although
not many people know about the
appendix, it is a vestigial organ that you can
actually live healthy and happily without.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES
OF APPENDICITIS?
It is a condition where the appendix is inflamed,
swollen and filled with pus. If an
infection from the digestive system works
down towards the appendix, or there’s an
obstruction of food, you’re likely going to
suffer from the condition. Other causes include
bacterial imbalance in your stomach,
parasitic infection, severe constipation or
if there’s an injury to the digestive system.
Appendicitis can also be caused by an infection
in the upper respiratory tract causing
a swollen lymph node in the bowel wall.
If left untreated, the condition will cause
your appendix to burst within 48 hours
after the first infection thus spilling the
pus into your abdomen. There’s going to
be an abscess if the infection inside the
appendix gets mixed with the contents of
your intestine. If you don’t treat it, you’re
likely to experience peritonitis. It is a
very deadly infection that happens in the
peritoneum, the membranes lining the
abdominal cavity and covers the digestive
organs. Peritonitis will spread very
fast throughout your body and will most
likely cause irreversible damage to your
body or death.
HOW TO IDENTIFY THE CONDITION
Appendicitis is a very serious condition and
you should visit the doctor immediately.
When diagnosing the condition, the doctor
will ask for a blood test to look for the infection,
urine test to determine if there’s
an infection in the bladder, kidneys or any
presence of appendicitis related proteins
as well as a CT scan, MRI or ultrasound to
look for an inflammation in your appendix.
Treatment for condition involves antibiotics
and the removal of your appendix surgically.
If the appendix actually ruptures,
the contents will be removed and the surgeon
will vacuum the pus from the abdomen.
The doctor will also leave a drainage
tube in your abdomen a few days after the
surgery to remove any excess fluids. The
condition can happen at any time but it occurs
between 10 and 30 years of age. It’s
actually very common in men than women.
WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF APPENDICITIS
Although it’s quite common, it’s quite
tough to diagnose appendicitis. It’s easily
confused with other conditions such as
severe IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), gastroenteritis,
urine or bladder infections,
constipation, pelvic infection or Crohn’s
disease. It’s also tough to diagnose in pregnant
women or children because the signs
can also mimic other conditions such as
pregnancy symptoms or childhood infections.
Some of the common symptoms of
appendicitis include the following:
98
December 2017

1
PAIN THAT GETS
PROGRESSIVELY WORSE
Inflammation and infection will not occur
without any pain so it’s natural
that you’re going to experience some
pain if you’re suffering from appendicitis.
The pain will start in the middle
part of your abdomen near your navel.
One of the symptoms of appendicitis includes
a gradual onset of cramping, dull
and aching pain in the entire abdomen.
With the inflammation setting in, the appendix
will start irritating the peritoneum
(the lining of your abdominal wall). With
the infection developing, you will feel a
sharp pain in the lower right side of your
abdomen. If your appendix lies behind
your colon, appendicitis will actually cause
pain in the lower back or in the pelvis.
2
VOMITING AND
COUGHING CAUSING PAIN
The abdominal pain mentioned above will
actually get worse when you’re taking deep
breaths, moving, sneezing or coughing. It’s
actually the earliest signs of appendicitis.
You will vomit if there’s an obstruction
present in your digestive tract. It’s also another
common sign of infection since your
body will try getting rid of the pus currently
accumulating in the appendix.
3
DIARRHEA AND CONSTIPATION
One of the common symptoms of appendicitis is constipation but you shouldn’t
relieve it using enemas or laxatives. That’s because the treatment options will actually
burst the appendix and actually worsen the condition. Just like vomiting, diarrhea is a
sign that your body is trying to get rid of anything that is irritating your digestive system.
You should stay hydrated throughout the diarrhea and then monitor your stool. If there’s
any sign of dark-colored matter or blood in your stool, you should contact the doctor.
December 2017 99

4
POOR APPETITE
Since you’re suffering from all the
symptoms mentioned above, you’re likely
not going to have an appetite of putting
anything down. If you’re experiencing
some abdominal pain, it’s very likely than
any bite will actually make the condition
worse. Therefore, get to the clinic immediately
to get the proper treatment.
5
CHILLS AND FEVER
Appendicitis will cause a fever between
37.2°C and 38°C. The fever is also
accompanied by chills. Therefore, if your
appendix bursts, your fever will rise
to 38.3°C or more. Your heart rate will
also start spiking.
6
INABILITY TO PASS GAS
Constipating will affect your ability
to pass any stool. It will also make
it hard to pass any gas. Therefore,
you’re likely going to have a hard time
passing gas.
7
NOT FEELING ALRIGHT
If you’re suffering from appendicitis
or a burst appendix, you’re likely
to feel like something is off. Therefore,
you shouldn’t ignore your gut
feeling, especially if you suspect that
your appendix is not as good as normal.
If you experience any of the signs of appendicitis
mentioned above, you should
visit the clinic immediately to get a proper
examination. If it’s the early stages
of the condition, the doctor will simply
give you antibiotics. Avoid using
pain medication when you get home.
That’s because it makes it hard to monitor
your pain and determine whether
or not you’re actually feeling better.
You should call a doctor immediately if you
notice any uncontrolled vomiting or progressive
pain in your abdomen. You should
be on the watch out for blood in your stool,
urine or vomit. Other symptoms include
dizziness, fainting or unbearable pain.
Appendicitis is a very serious condition
that shouldn’t be joked about so you
should be diligent if you notice any of
the signs and symptoms of the condition
mentioned above. You should always listen
to your body, especially if you notice
any pain or notice blood in your vomit or
stool. Yes, your appendix is a vestigial organ
and not necessary for survival but if
you ignore it, you might actually be making
things worse.
7 WAYS THAT
WORKING OUT
CAN HELP
YOU FEEL AND
Look Your Best
by
Chuck Meriwether
Follow Us:
If you’re looking for information on how to look and feel younger, then these 7
exercise tips will help you stave off illness and improve your physique.
There are so many reasons to
get off the couch and get active:
you’ll build muscle, get
sick less often and improve the
way your joints function. There
is another argument for exercising every
day as well - you’ll feel great and look great
too! Regardless of your age, working out
often can help you look better than anyone
else in your age group.
1
HAVE MORE ENERGY
Do you drink coffee, caffeinated beverages
or energy drinks to get the boost each
day that you need? There is no reason to do
that when you could be working out, which
has a positive impact on both your body
and your brain. You don’t have to subject
yourself to hours of exercise, either, as just
a half hour a day can do wonders for you.
If you are just getting started after years of
being inactive, it may be hard to get going.
Soon, though, you’ll feel a lot better and
you’ll start to look forward to your work
outs - plus, you’ll look younger as well. Don’t
“forget” to exercise just because you can’t
make it to the gym. You don’t need a bunch
of fancy equipment to get the workout that
you need, as even a hearty walk has a lot
of benefits for you. And, if you want to set
up a gym at home, check out garagegymplanner,
which will give you the information
that you need to get one started.
2
WATCH YOUR SKIN GLOW
Working out makes you sweat, but
that is not the only reason that you’ll be
glowing after your workouts. There are so
many ways that exercise can help the skin.
First, sweating gets rid of any dirt or gunk
that has built up in your skin and gives
the pores a chance to open up. In addition,
it makes the skin more flexible, which
is important as you age. You can even do
facial exercises meant to help your skin
look its best.
IMPROVE YOUR POSTURE
When you hold yourself upright, you
look younger and healthier. However, as
you age, posture tends to suffer. That is
because you lose muscle and your bone
density is different, and both of these play
a role in how you hold your body. When you
work out, though, your bones and muscles
get stronger and so does your spine, so
you look thinner and better - that means
you also look like you are in shape and are
younger than you really are.
4
BECOME MORE FLEXIBLE
When you work out, you become
more flexible. There are so many exercises
that you can engage in to work out your
joints, ligaments and tendons, all the while
keeping your back, neck and knees healthy.
If you work at a business, you are more
likely to experience pain in your joints and
bones as you get older, which is why exercising
is so important. Just engaging in a
few different stretches can help your muscles
and keep you flexible.
5
FEEL HAPPIER
When you work out, and sweat a little
bit, your mood is going to improve. When
you exercise, you essentially “tell” your
body to make more endorphins, dopamine
and serotonin, each of which has a positive
impact on your mood. When these brain
chemicals are abundant in your body, you
feel happy and your self-esteem improves
as well.
6
INCREASE YOUR METABOLISM
Your metabolism is not as fast when
you get older. However, exercise helps to
ramp up that metabolism and keeps your
weight in check even when you reach your
retirement years. Resistance training is
always a good option, because it helps
you to burn calories. When you engage in
this form of training, you are dealing with
weights, which means you improve your
muscle mass and may even bulk up over
time. When you build muscle, you also
burn calories. And, when you are finished
lifting, those muscles remain for a while.
December 2017 107

7
LOOK YOUNGER
When you exercise, you are much
less likely to be afflicted with a variety of
chronic diseases, and you also prevent
your cells from aging as quickly as they
would have otherwise. Most importantly,
you benefit from residual function. If
you are lucky, working out can cut back
on your biological aging by two decades.
You’ll feel good, you’ll look good, and you
have the potential to live longer as well.
It is important to consider the various benefits
of working out. Take the information
included in this article to heart, so you are
more likely to establish a workout routine
and stick to it. You should not look at exercise
as an option but rather as something
that you need to engage in if you want to
live the best life possible.
3 UNDENIABLE
BENEFITS OF
BUYING
IN BULK
by
David Baker
Read this article and discover how buying in bulk can bring peace and
convenience into your hectic life.
Does buying in bulk prove to be
inefficient and a waste of money?
Well, it’s ultimately up to
you to decide which of these
extremes you belong to. Despite
what many people would have you
believe, there’s no right or wrong way when
it comes to buying in bulk.
1
EFFICIENT AND CONVENIENT
If you visit a big box store where you
can buy large quantities of different products
at near wholesale prices, then you will
surely feel compelled to get your hands on
the largest package while it lasts. There’s a
good chance you wouldn’t run out of supplies
anytime soon since you already have
a few months’ worth sitting in your home.
This also offers the advantage of saving a
lot of time, especially if you’re a busy professional
who doesn’t want to be bothered
by frequent trips to the grocery store.
Being convenient and efficient is always a
plus. You’ll be the envy of others who learn
that you get as many items at a fraction of
the cost. However, some people would still
argue that buying in bulk is a wasteful and
greedy practice. At the end of the day, it all
boils down to a person’s personal opinion.
2
STOCK UP ON ESSENTIALS
If you find yourself using a specific
item frequently, then it’s only natural to
stock up on this item so you don’t have to
go shopping all the time. Sometimes, you
might need the item even if it’s already
midnight, in which case you have no choice
but leave your home to purchase the item
even if you’re not getting a discount. To
avoid this level of inefficiency, it’s better
to pick up a huge amount of the item in
question when you go to the grocery store.
It doesn’t really matter whether the prices
prove to be slightly higher during the week
you go shopping. You should understand
that you’re essentially spending a few more
dollars in exchange for avoiding running out
of your most used items later on. And considering
that you don’t have to commute or
use the car, then you can save even more
on lower transportation costs. However, it’s
easy to think that you’re paying more than
necessary if your cart is full of overpriced
items. This is why you may still want to wait
for a sale so you can buy items in bulk and
keep more money in your pocket.
December 2017 113

3
FREE SHOPPING WITH COUPONS
The most avid coupon users think
that buying items for free or nearly for free
are the only ones worth spending on. Remember
though, that when sales prices
match a high-value coupon, you shouldn’t
let the opportunity slip your hands. Matching
the right buy to a high-value coupon
means you can double your savings. You
might even get the item totally for free. Just
think about what you can buy if you have
plenty of these coupons. You can enjoy buying
in bulk by only spending a few dollars.
This is precisely why so many people are
into couponing. If you can’t get the products
you want for free, you can probably
buy them for only a few pennies. Going to
the grocery with a huge stash of coupons in
your hands means you can do some shopping
without worrying about your budget.
And if the items are used before they expire,
then you truly get your money’s worth.
People have different perspectives on bulk
buying. Some consider it wasteful. Others,
meanwhile, think that stocking up on
their favorite items makes perfect sense
especially if it’s for saving money and decreasing
the number of times they visit the
grocery store. A coupon fanatic might even
purchase several months’ worth of supplies
without putting a dent in his or her pocket.
Ultimately, the decision lies in your hands.
If you want, you can choose to gather coupons
and match them with the best sales. If
you don’t want to bother with coupons but
want to save time, then buying many items
at once even if there’s no discount still
makes sense. And if you only need an item
or two based on necessity, then stocking up
on these items could mean not having to
run outside in the middle of the night.
