LEGISLATIVE UPDATES
Bago matapos ang mga sesyon ngayong taon, masusing hinimay ng
Senado ang pagpasa sa P3.767 trillion 2018 national budget.
Sa kapulungan ng Senado, 16 senador ang bumoto na ipasa ang national
budget. Bilang member ng Senate Finance Committee, kasama si Sen.
Nancy sa mga senador na bumoto para dito.
Mahigit sa P1.4 billion na pondo ang inilipat mula sa Philippine
National Police (PNP) at Department of Interior and Local Government
(DILG) patungo sa Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Kasunod ito sa utos ni Presidente Rodrigo Duterte noong Oktubre na ilipat
ang operasyon sa war on drugs sa PDEA, mula sa PNP.
Para sa pagtulong sa Marawi, nagtabi ang Senado ng P10 bilyon na
pondo para sa National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
(NDRRM) para sa rehabilitasyon ng lungsod.
Sa kabuuang inaaprubahang 2018 national budget ng Senado, ang sector
ng education at infrastructure and nakakuha ng malaking hati.
Nasa P684.33 bilyon ang binigay na budget sa edukasyon na nahati sa
P561.58 bilyon para sa Department of Education (DepEd), P62.33 billion
para sa mga State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), at P60.42
bilyon naman para sa Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Dahil “Build, Build, Build” Program ng administrasyon, nakakuha ang
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ng P598.57 bilyon
na budget.
