away, campers will be using chartered
school buses as well as OC Transpo where
appropriate, based on the group size and
age of the campers.
activities that take place off-site, most camp
groups leave the park by 9:15am. Drop off
possible experience in camp. For
questions or to discuss your child’s
SUMMER
IS HEATING UP

Dear CamperS...
Dear Campers,
Welcome to summer camp at Dovercourt! This summer,
we are offering over 100 different varieties of camps for
ages 4-16 to provide you with the absolute best experience
possible. Choose from up to 40 different options per week
in an assortment of streams including Visual, Culinary &
Performing Arts, Sports, Overnight, Adventure Academy,
Science & Innovation, Youth Zone, Leadership and Theme
Camps.
This summer, we are excited to introduce a variety of new
camps that cater to every audience. We have created
a new S.T.E.M stream of camps which include Aviation
Fundamentals, Electronic Art, Robotics Circle and Robotics
Triangle. We have also expanded our Bluesfest School of
Music and Art programs, adding a 2-week intensive Musical
Theatre Camp alongside a 1-week Stage Sound and Tech
camp that will be operating the theatre production. Also new
this year is Painter’s Corner, in response to popular demand
for a children’s version of paint nights. We have also added
ShutterBugs, an introduction to photography camp, and
Cake Decorating for our young chefs. We have expanded
our partnership with BC Sports, adding Martial Arts for
Movies. For the more adventurous, we have added Action
Media & Forest School to our lineup, in partnership with
the Kitchissippi Centre.
We look forward to seeing you this summer! If you need
help deciding on a camp, please feel free to give us a call
or visit us in person. We are always happy to help you
select camps that suit your needs and interests, and to
address any questions or concerns you may have. Be sure
to download your copy of our Parent Handbook, available
online.
camp swims
Camp swims are incorporated into many
of our program plans and appropriate
staff-to-camper ratios are maintained
during all camp swims. Campers
younger than 6 years old must wear a
personal flotation device (provided by
us) and remain in the shallow pool and
the ramp area. Campers who are 6 years
old and older will be allowed in the
shallow part of the pool, and those who
pass a swim test will be permitted in the
deep end. Most camp groups will not
be swimming each day, so please refer
to your camp’s newsletter for specific
swim days.
camp activitY locations &
transportation
The day always starts and finishes at
Dovercourt, while many of our daily
activities take place in other locations.
Our programs take advantage of many
outdoor spaces including local parks,
elementary and high school facilities
within walking distance, and City
facilities, outdoor spaces, and beaches.
Transportation is done by foot where
possible, according to the school board
guidelines for walking distance, and based
on age. For activities that take place farther
away, campers will be using chartered
school buses as well as OC Transpo where
appropriate, based on the group size and
age of the campers.
dailY schedUle
Camp activities are from 9am to 4pm. For
activities that take place off-site, most camp
special needs & eXtra sUpport:
Dovercourt is strongly committed to the
inclusion of all campers. Please take the
time to make us aware of any medical,
behavioural, or cognitive issues (diagnosed
or undiagnosed) your child may have, at
the time of registration. This might include
social anxieties, communication barriers,
or the tendency to run or wander away from
the group. Making us aware early on will
ensure that our Inclusion Coordinators and
Inclusion Team can help arrange for any
additional supports or accommodations
to make sure that your child has the best
possible experience in camp. For
questions or to discuss your child’s
participation in camp, or arrange a
meeting with our Inclusion staff, please
contact us at inclusion@dovercourt.org
Our Inclusion Team is comprised of
dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable
individuals trained in Applied Behaviour
Analysis and Crisis Prevention and
Intervention, and are committed to making
sure that each and every camper has the
best experience possible in camp. We offer
and cater to various levels of support for our
campers including:
• One-on-one support workers,
• Low-ratio staffing models
• Camp Buddies
Our Inclusion Team can be reached anytime
throughout the year so please contact us
and we would be happy to help plan your
child’s summer camps.
