I am really pleased to tell you that<br />
we now have the latest Ken Follett<br />
book “A Column of Fire”. If any<br />
of you read “The Pillars of the<br />
Earth”, you are going to love this<br />
new book.<br />
In 1558, Kingsbridge Cathedral<br />
looks down on a country that is<br />
torn by religious intolerance. At<br />
this time, Mary Queen of Scots,<br />
better known as “Bloody Mary”, is<br />
on the throne and has ordered that<br />
all Protestants be murdered because<br />
of their religious beliefs.<br />
After Queen Mary is executed,<br />
Elizabeth takes over the throne and<br />
tries to bring religious tolerance,<br />
which turns all of Europe against<br />
England.<br />
Ned Willard wants to marry<br />
Margery Fitzgerald, however, Ned<br />
is a Protestant while Margery is a<br />
Catholic, therefore dooming their<br />
relationship.<br />
Ned leaves and goes to work for<br />
Princess Elizabeth, who then becomes<br />
Queen. To keep herself on<br />
the throne, she sets up England’s<br />
first secret service to find out about<br />
various plots, rebellions and invasion<br />
plans and Ned becomes one of<br />
her courageous secret agents.<br />
However, there are those who<br />
want to impose their ideas on everyone<br />
and start a rebellion, therefore<br />
giving them more power.<br />
This is such an absorbing and<br />
exciting book, full of historical details,<br />
it was really hard to put it<br />
down. I hope you will enjoy reading<br />
it as much as I did.<br />
