Upcoming Volunteer Awards
GWSA COMMITTEES
Ontario Volunteer Service
Awards: This award recognizes
volunteers for providing committed
and dedicated service to
an organization. Deadline for
submissions was December 13.
Please fully complete the Nomination
Form located at the front
desk and return it to Becky in the
main office. Those who are eligible
for an award will be chosen.
Your assistance and input is
greatly appreciated with this process.
If you have any further questions,
please feel free to speak to
Becky from Monday to Friday
between 8:30-4:30.
All Volunteers – Training and
Orientation: Anyone new to the
volunteer team within the last 2
years, or who has not completed
their AODA and training, will be
required to register for one of the
trainings. It is a great refresher
for anyone, speaks to your role
as a volunteer, policies and procedures
and how the GWSA and
City work together. Please speak
to Becky in the main office for
more details and to register.

Reception Desk
Registration Desk: volunteers are
needed to assist on the front desk
on Wednesday afternoons 12:00-
3:45 or every other Friday afternoon
12:00-3:45. If you enjoy
working with a great team of
volunteers, providing customer
service and working on the computer,
please speak to Becky in
the main office.
AGE FRIENDLY GUELPH
By 2031, Guelph’s population is
projected to be 175,000, with
57,000 people over the age of 55.
The City’s Age Friendly Guelph
(AFG) is recruiting volunteers in
the following areas:
Marketing
Communications
Community Outreach
Working Group members are being
recruited to assist with the
implementation and hands-on
guiding of the working groups.
For more information on how to
become a volunteer with Age
Friendly Guelph or any of the
current roles with the committees,
please speak to Becky in the

2018 VARIETY SHOW
The Variety Show Committee is
looking for volunteers who are
interested in a joining a fabulous
team of volunteers.
Computer Mentoring – Apple
Products:
The GWSA is looking for individuals
who are computer literate
to assist members with basic
questions and to help with specific
computer problems specific
to iPads/iPhones/Macbooks.
Tasks:
- Help with basic operation of
Apple products
- Help with email and browsing
the internet
- MS Word and handling digital
photographs
- Assistance with iPads/ iPhones/
Macbooks
Governance Committee:
The GWSA is looking for 2-3
new members to join the Governance
Committee. If you enjoy
reviewing policies and procedures,
have an HR background
with attention to detail while
viewing the larger picture, have
4 hours per month to give back
and like to work with other volunteers,
this committee is for
you.
Travel Committee: Travel
Club is looking for new members
to assist on the committee with
organizing, booking and hosting
monthly trips for the GWSA
members.
GWSA Golf: The Golf Activity
Group is looking for 10 Greeters
to volunteer their time once a
week in the 2018 season for a
few hours (8:00-10:30 am).
