You’ll find camps designed to engage your 

curious preschooler to your independent teen. 

SPARK TIME 

Fun, extended camp time for your child – no extra charge! 

7-9 am and 4-6 pm (Airport Road) 

7-9 am and 4-6:30 pm (Chestnut Street) 

The Y’s SPARK TIME extended camp program provides 

before and after camp care full of activities designed 

to keep them safe, active and having fun! Included with 

your camp fee. 

Those attending camp at the West Chester Area Y (Airport 

Road) have the opportunity to register for a swim lesson 

during PM Spark Time for an additional fee. Lessons are 

offered for Red and Yellow Band swimmers and are aimed 

at helping them achieve their Green swim band. 

SWIMMING - at the West Chester Area Y 

Campers enjoy a recreational swim period each day 

at Airport Road (except some field trip days), weather 

permitting. Trained Y lifeguards conduct swim tests for 

all campers prior to swimming each Monday. 

KIDS LOVE THE 

WORLD CARNIVAL! 

Every summer, campers entering grades 3 and up, from 

all YMCA of Greater Brandywine camps, come together 

for a day of fun and friendly competition. Mark your

Ages 9-12: Using LEGO Mindstorm Robots, this program 

introduces youth to LEGO Robotics and is for youth with little to 

no LEGO robotics experience. Participants begin by constructing 

a basic robotic and then learn how to program it to move, 

undertake life obstacles and complete tasks using motors and 

sensors. Students work collaboratively with other participants. 

Ages 6-8: We Do Robots, youth learn how to this program 

robotics. Students will build LEGO models featuring working 

motors and sensors, program their models and explore a series of 

cross-curricular, theme-based activities. Students need to be able 

to follow basic picture instructions.

Do you have an artistic eye? Do you want to learn how to take amazing 

photos? Join us for this fun and exciting half-day camp. A digital camera 

is required. This camp is for those who have completed second through 

seventh grades. Afternoons include swimming, games, arts and crafts 

and other camp activities.

COMPUTER EXPLORERS CAMP 

Grades Completed: 1 st -7 th 



9 am-Noon (half-day AM) (Ages 10-12)

Ages 10-12: Create Your Own Video Game: Inspire creativity 

and imagination! Campers will design and edit what they want to 

include in their 3D worlds. They will be able to go inside buildings, 

view scenes from above, from the sides and the back. Layout the 

locations, obstacles, vehicles, characters and more. Each character 

can move individual body parts which adds to the reality and 

complexity of the video games. 

Ages 6-9: Create Animated Stories: The children will have fun 

using a graphics based children's programming language to create 

their own video games and animated stories. They will choose 

characters, vehicles, objects, backgrounds and sounds and they 

direct what action takes place.

team to use science to stop them. In this half day camp, you will learn 

the science behind zombies and how to use it to save the Oscar Lasko Y! 

Activities include obstacle courses, climbing walls and inflatables!

Jazz, hip-hop and modern lyrical will be learned in this fun-filled camp. Ballet 

shoes, jazz shoes or sneakers should be worn, as well 

as clothing that allows freedom of movement. 



PRINCESS DANCE CAMP • Ages 3-5 




Be a ballerina princess for a few days! Campers will learn basic ballet steps, 

decorate wands and crowns and have fun creating their own "Princess" 

costumes. A tea party and performance at the end of the week will complete 

this camp. 



PROGRESSIVE GYMNASTICS CAMP • Ages 6-12

For gymnasts levels one and up! Campers receive instruction on vault,

A fun week of discovery for your preschool gymnasts and dancers. Kids

An entire camp centered around tumbling/acrobatics and dance to put 

together the ultimate performance routine. Great for gymnasts, cheerleaders

AQUATIC CAMPS 

AQUATIC ADVENTURE CAMP • Grades Completed: 2 nd -7 th 


Weekly, June 11-August 17 (no camp July 4) 


Splish, Splash, I'm heading to camp! Water races, relays, games, strokes, 

dives and more. Campers who participate in aquatic camp need to take a 

swim test at the beginning of the week and must pass as a GREEN BAND 

level swimmer. A swim test includes 60 seconds of treading water and 

swimming the full length of the pool. Campers work on perfecting their 

diving skills, partake in extra swim time and spend some time refining 

their strokes. 





INSTRUCTIONAL DIVING CAMP 

Grades Completed: 4 th -8 th 



August 6-10 


Dive in! Learn basic diving skills that lead to more advanced 

dives off our one-meter spring boards. Must be a GREEN Band 

swimmer and have the ability to jump from our one-meter 

spring board.

TEEN CAMPS 

COUNSELORS-IN-TRAINING (CIT) 

Grades Completed: 8 th -10 th 




A weekly camp for teens who are interested in building the skills needed 

to be a camp counselor. CIT's will participate in leadership training 

workshops and spend time each day working with younger camper 

groups. This camp is for grades completed eighth, ninth, and tenth 

grades. Our program is designed specifically for teens interested in 

working with children and taking on responsibility in the camp program. 

Teens wishing to participate in the CIT Program need to submit an 

application and meet with the camp director or coordinator prior to 

their acceptance into the program.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION 

A Y membership is not required to register for camp. 

Membership is required at the time of registration to 

receive the lower weekly camp rate. No changes will be 

made if a membership has been started after the camp 

registration has been processed. 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE 

The Y is a non-profit charitable organization that 

strengthens the foundations of our community. Thanks 

to donations to the Y’s Annual Campaign, we can offer 

financial assistance to those unable to pay the standard 

fees. Y memberships and programs are available to all. If 

you are interested in sending your child to camp, but are 

experiencing a financial situation that makes full payment 

difficult, you are invited to apply for our financial 

assistance program. Requests are confidential. 

CHILD CARE INFORMATIONAL SERVICES 

(CCIS) FUNDING 

Families who receive CCIS funding are required to pay a $10 

per camper per week fee in addition to their weekly copay. 

DEPOSIT 

Camp deposits are due at the time of registration. 

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable and are 

subtracted from your weekly rate. Member: $25 per child 

per week. Non-member: $50 per child per week. 

SIBLING DISCOUNTS 

Families with two or more children signing up for the 

same camp week receive 10% off the lowest weekly fee 

(restrictions apply). Discount can only be applied during 

onsite registration. Discount is not able to be combined 

with financial assistance and/or staff discounts. 

CAMP PAYMENT 

Payments must be made through weekly automated 

draft or in-full at time of registration. Camp payments 

are processed two Sundays prior to the camp start date. 

Camp payments are not able to be split between two or 

more payers. 

FEES FOR CANCELLATION, CHANGES, 

OR LATE REGISTRATION 

No refunds are available after the start of a camp week. 

Any camp cancellations less than one week prior to the 

camp start date will result in a $50 cancellation fee. Any 

camp registration submitted after the Wednesday before 

camp will result in an additional $50 late registration 

fee. Any camp registration change made after the initial 

registration will result in a $25 change fee. 

LATE PICK UP FEE 

The camp day ends at 6 pm at Camp Winnipeg and 6:30 pm 

at Camp Chestnut. If you are going to be late picking up 

your child, please arrange to have an authorized pick-up 

person arrive by 6 pm or call the Y to inform staff. A late 

fee of $5 for pick-up one to five minutes past program 

end time, and $1 per minute thereafter will be charged.
