Vienna Showroom is an open and flexible stage by Austrian designers with the goal
of presenting the many facets of the fast growing Viennese fashion scene at
international exhibitions.
Numerous private and public initiatives to support the creative industries – and fashion
in particular – on the one hand, and the growing internationalization as well as the
opening of Austria’s neighbouring countries in Eastern Europe on the other hand, have
enormously invigorated the market and led to an ever growing productivity and
a professional approach, also among younger labels. Vienna today, beyond its traditional
affinity with art and culture, is among Europe’s leading capitals of fashion.
You are cordially invited to visit us and our showrooms in Vienna in order to
convince yourself.
History The four designers of Artista established themselves as successes in the fashion
scene in Budapest in 1994. While maintaining their success in the Hungarian capital, they have
also understood, since the founding of the Combinat shop in Vienna 2004, how to capture the
Viennese public with their very individual, if not emotional fashion concepts. Alongside
releasing seasonal collections and custom, one-of pieces, the contributors to Artista have
developed their expertise through the years of experience in various disciplines of styling,
including costume work for films and television as well as organizing clothing and uniforms
for major events. So don’t be surprised when you recognize various Arista designs in video clips,
TV commercials etc…
Philosophy Artista style is: fun look matched to classic, elegant or sporty elements. Feminin
look mixed with men’s wear details. The Artista clothes are genuinly wearable. They do not
change your personality. They give self-confidence, instead of self-deception. »Right from the
start we made a firm decision that we would remain faithful to our original philosophy:
the top priority is that we are designers, thinking along concepts, doing our best to suggest
alternatives, make people think about their surroundings and looks, maybe a bit foresee the
future.«
History The label art point was founded in Moscow in 1993. Since 1999, under the
direction of the designer Lena Kvadrat, two collections per year have been produced and
distributed through its own shop in Vienna (formerly also in Moscow and in Berlin) along
with international expositions and distributors throughout Europe and Japan.
Philosophy Lena Kvadrat understands fashion as a means of communication and
as a symbolic language which uses both explicit and encoded signals. Every collection
is dedicated to developing a certain, often general or abstract topic and then with
respect to this topic is situated within the history and actuality of fashion design.
The current collection, Summer 2009, is dedicated to the notion of the modular.
History Katha Harrer, founder of the fashion label km/a designs and produces uniques
as a kind of opposition to the conformity which governs fashion since 2000.
Philosophy The models are innovative, sporty, functional, unisex and out of time.
They convince with materials which normally are not used for clothes, individuality, being
comfortable and casuality. She gives hand production a high importance, it’s not mass
production. Therefore each piece of clothes has a personal note and has the handwriting of
Katha Harrer. Her costumers are people who lead their own, personal way of life, who dress
themselves to give a sign. Her clothes are beautiful and out of time. And why km/a? With the
tachometer as a label logo, she means the speed that normally governs the fashion trend.
for effortless, colourful, autonomous fashion full of vitality for exceptional women.
History It was one of those coincidences of life that brought them together.
But for the austro-persian duo Nina & Ali, this collaboration means the realization of one
vision – one goal. The opportunity to present state of the art designs in combination with
high quality materials. Inseparable since their time at the fashion school Nina Kepplinger
and Ali Rabbani decided to join forces to launch the Label Ninali in 2004.
Their experience while working together with brands like Versace, Diesel, Heatherette
and Bless where steps of a development process which at the end were just a part of their
great appreciation and love for aesthetics, the focus on the body and how it functions
within the world around it.
Philosophy Designs - to provide the space for the evolvement of emotions, passion and
personality. It’s about the pleasure to elevate and emphasize the individuality without
forming an artificial mask of presentation. The work on each collection means to combine
the creative & economic aspects of a design.
Design & Cuts are handmade at the Ninali Studios. Ninali is entirely produced in Austria.
To provide the highest quality of materials and processing in combination with unique
designs for their customers are one of Ninali’s main concerns.
History Since working with Helmut Lang while completing her studies at the Vienna
College of Applied Art (Wiener Hochschule für Angewandte Kunst), Maria Oberfrank has
been busy designing clothing, accessories and jewelry for city-wanderers who value purism
and understatement as important aspects of fashion.
Philosophy For those who want to maintain their tendency for panache and to attach
a touch of subdued luxury, modern chic and sufficient opulence to a purist appearance, they
can find what they are looking for with Pitour. Experimental imaginativeness, employed in
every detail as a central theme, produces genuinely eye-catching pieces for men and women.
The collections from Pitour certainly also express a fair share of savoir Vivre and character,
which are a result of an intense exchange with Brazilian culture and fashion. This combination
of ideas brings out the sophisticated details and cheery ensembles from the elaborate
design process.
Pieces by Pitour are – a combination of central European austerity interwoven with a thread
of Brazilian exuberance…
