Creativity • Children are born with a drive
to explore and discover, they mainly learn
on their own by interacting with the real
world. They need to touch objects, take
them apart, and slowly become familiar
with them. The best way for children to
store practical learning experiences is for
them to grasp them with as many senses
as possible. Building freely with a hammer,
blocks, and rods encourages your children’s
creativity and imagination.

Cognitive skills • Acquiring cognitive
skills is a crucial part of early childhood
development. With the help of such thinking
structures a child can plan before it
acts and come up with assumptions about
the result. During the Matador-building
experience, cognitive skills are automatically
and playfully trained, such as: solution-oriented
thinking; ability to reason and
planning skills.
Nach dem Bauen wird gespielt! Durch die
unendlich vielen Baumöglichkeiten gibt
es endlos viele Matador- Spielwelten. Das
freie Spiel ist ein wichtiges „Training“ für
Kinder um Erlebnisse und Eindrücke zu
verarbeiten, sich in verschiedene Rollen
einzufühlen und durch Wiederholungen,

Joy of playing • When the building is finished
the playing can begin! Thanks to the
endless building combinations there are
uncountable Matador game worlds. Playing
freely is an important ‘training’ for
children in order to process experiences
and impressions and to become acquainted
with and assume different roles. What
is more, based on repetitions, children will
grow increasingly secure and develop
a routine when interacting with others.

blocks and rods with the help of a hammer,
toddlers playfully develop specific
skills. Active, haptic crafting, grabbing
objects, hammering and dismantling
provides a valuable counter-pole to the
oversaturation of screens, so common in
our times.

senkt langfristig den Co 2 Ausstoß. Das
Zertifikat „PEFC“ der „HolzCert Austria“
bestätigt eine nachhaltige Waldbewirtschaftung.
Die HolzCert Austria ist eine
Zertifizierungsstelle, die als unabhängige
Institution die Einhaltung der strengen
Kriterien laufend überprüft.

exclusively stems from sustainably
managed, local forests. Sustainable
forestry and use of wood influences
the climate positively and lowers CO 2
emissions in the long-term. The ‘PEFC’

Austria is an independent certification
authority which verifies that strict criteria
are adhered to.

hundredth of a millimetre to be able to
ensure an optimal accuracy of fit. Employing
a living material such as wood means
a huge challenge which we are able to
master thanks to our experienced staff

Consistent quality due to own production
in Austria • Matador has existed since
1903 and is without a doubt the most
legendary Austrian toy and the most
famous construction set of all times. This
long history in itself proves the unique
quality of Matador. A multi-stage quality
control continuously guarantees the high
quality of the Matador construction sets.
Für die Matador Produktion verwenden wir ausschließlich
nachhaltig bewirtschaftetes, heimisches
Rotbuchenholz. Ein ausgeklü gel tes Verfahren
reduziert die Menge der Holzabfälle, die bei
der Produktion entsteht, auf ein Minimum. Die
Produktion selbst wird ausschließlich durch diese
eigenen Abfälle aus Holz ökologisch beheizt. Bei
unseren Lieferanten für Zusatzteile (z.B. Verpackungen)
setzen wir auf regionale Unternehmen
und damit auf möglichst kurze Transportwege.
Zusätzlich ist die Verpackung Bestandteil des
Produktes und wird daher nicht entsorgt.
Environmentally-friendly production • We
exclusively use sustainably managed local copper
beech wood throughout the Matador production.
A sophisticated process reduces the amount of
wood waste which is created during production
to a minimum. The production itself is exclusively
heated ecologically using this wood waste. When
it comes to suppliers of additional parts (for example
packaging), we rely on regional companies
and thus ensure short delivery routes. What is
more, the packaging is a part of the product and
therefore does not need to be disposed of.

Teilen können Sie unbesorgt sein. Es
besteht keine Gefahr, wenn ein Kind diese
in den Mund steckt. Unsere Produkte sind

Non-toxic colours • The bulk of our building
blocks is untreated, but you can also
be unconcerned regarding our coloured
parts. There is no danger should a child put
these in its mouth. Our products are absolutely,
verifiably non-toxic and are regularly
tested by independent monitoring labs.

MATADOR Architect ist ein
100%iges Naturprodukt. Es
besteht ausschließlich aus
unbehandeltem Rotbuchenholz
- ohne giftige Lacke
oder anderen schädlichen Stoffen. Die
Bausteine wurden speziell für Kinder ab 12
Monaten entwickelt. Sie lassen sich ohne
Kraftaufwand zusammenfügen und wieder
trennen. Dadurch ermöglichen sie schon
den Kleinsten dreidimensionales Bauen.
Dies fördert die Motorik, die Kreativität
und das räumliche Vorstellungsvermögen.
Die Verbindungselemente dieses patentierten
Baukastensystems sind so gestaltet,
dass die einzelnen Bausteine beim
übereinander stapeln nicht fix, sondern
nur lose verbun¬den werden. Die Noppen
und Vertiefungen dienen als Stapelhilfen
und ermöglichen dem Kind schon nach
wenigen Versuchen das Herstellen von
Bauwerken. Klare Formen und einfache
Handhabung führen rasch zu wichtigen
und motivierenden Erfolgserlebnissen.
Beim Umwerfen des Bauwerkes zerfällt

product. It is made exclusively from
untreated copper beech wood – without
toxic varnish or other harmful materials.
The building blocks were specifically developed
for children 12 months and older.
They can be connected and disassembled
effortlessly. In this way, three-dimensional
building becomes possible even for
the youngest. This promotes motor skills,
creativity and spatial perception. The
connecting elements of this patented
construction set are designed so that
the individual building blocks are not
fixed, but rather loosely connected when
stacked on top of each other. The nobs
and slots serve to simplify stacking and
help children create structures in just
a few tries. Clear shapes and easy use
lead to a quick and important sense of
achievement. Upon toppling the structure,
it will fall apart, and creativity will
be required anew. Matador Architect is a
pedagogic first toy and its various shapes
encourage children to build and play.

Jeder Maker und Explorer Baukasten beinhaltet das

Kinder tolle Bauwerke, funktionstüchtige Modelle und
fantasievolle Welten. Mit der innovativen Zange aus biologischen
Holz-Spritzguss können die Bauwerke einfach
wieder zerlegt werden.
Die bildlich gestalteten Bauvorlagen helfen der Fantasie
auf die Sprünge. Sie enthalten neben einer genauen schritt -
weisen Anleitung auch detaillierte Angaben zu Schwierigkeitsgrad,
Anzahl der benötigten Teile, bildliche Stückliste
und ungefähre Bauzeit. Die Verwendung von Hammer
und Zange ist auf den Bauanleitungen bildlich erklärt.
Pädagogisch konzipiert erhöht sich der Schwierigkeitsgrad
der Modelle in logischen Schritten, so dass Können
und Fähigkeiten nach und nach verbessert werden.
Wenn Kinder noch keine Erfahrungen mit Werkzeug gemacht

Every Maker and Explorer construction set comes
with the respective tools. Using the fitting hammer,
children build great structures, operative models, and
imaginative worlds. With the innovative pliers made
from organic wooden injection moulding the structures
can easily be disassembled again.
The visually designed building manuals give a first
spark of inspiration. Apart from exact step-by-step
instructions they also indicate detailed information
on the difficulty level, number of parts needed,
illustrated list of parts, and an approximate building
time. The manual includes pictures of how to use the
hammer and the pliers.
Pedagogically devised, the difficulty levels of the
model increase in logical steps so that the skills are
continuously developed. If children have not had
any experience with tools, it makes sense for them
to have some help during their first tries. After the
first sense of achievement our children turn into true
Matador master builders!
