Exploring Pembrokeshire’s sights is easy with the National
Trust. We’re lucky enough to care for miles (and miles!)
of the county’s coast and countryside, along with historic
houses, glorious gardens and accommodation.
There’s plenty to keep you busy, from seaside strolls and
time travel to wildlife watching and watersports.
GET SET FOR AN EPIC ADVENTURE…
1 2 3
EXPERIENCE PEMBROKESHIRE’S SPECIAL PLACES
1. COAST, COAST, COAST
With beaches in abundance and a wealth of watersports
on offer, you really can make the most of the coast. Visit
Barafundle Bay for classic coastal charm, go rockpooling
at Marloes Sands and uncover adventure at Abereiddi and
its Blue Lagoon. You can make a splash with our kayaking
and coasteering sessions from Stackpole Quay and the
North Pembrokeshire coast too.
2. A GARDEN FOR ALL SEASONS
For flower power, Colby Woodland Garden is a must-visit
throughout the year. Admire seasonal blooms, go for a
woodland wander, have fun with duck racing and pond
dipping in the streams and take a break in the tea-room.
3. HISTORY AND MYSTERY
Step back in time at the Tudor Merchant’s House in Tenby
and see what life was like in the 1500s. Uncover the
historic wall paintings; our centuries-old artwork that’s
recently undergone vital conservation work.
4. FARM LIFE
For a glimpse into rural life, head to the Southwood Estate,
our home farm for North Pembrokeshire. Follow the
walking trails around the estate, visit the shearing shed for
information and maybe even spot our herd of Welsh Black
Cattle or Welsh Mountain Ponies.
5. SEAL PUP SPECTACULAR
Come and meet our resident wildlife – autumn is a real wow
as we welcome in seal pup season! Head to the Marloes
Peninsula on a guided ranger walk to see the Atlantic grey
seals and their pups. Have those binoculars ready…
6. PLACES TO STAY
Sleep easy under the stars at Gupton Farm, our brand new
coastal campsite and farmhouse accommodation. Nestled
behind Freshwater West, our rustic site is a stone’s throw
from the beach; ideal for sandy adventures, surfing breaks
and escaping the hustle and bustle.
Sea
life
Visitors of all varieties are drawn to Pembrokeshire’s magnificent coastline. Nutrient-rich
waters and a favourable landscape provide a perfect habitat for resident and visiting birds,
such as gannets, guillemots, Manx shearwaters, razorbills and puffins, while glimpses of
grey seals, basking sharks, dolphins, porpoises and even whales are offered through a
number of wildlife sight-seeing boat trips. Other increasingly popular water activities to
enjoy include surfing, stand-up paddle boarding and coasteering, and for the ultimate
sea-based adventure, board a cruise or sea safari for a round- island boat trip or trips that
land on the islands of Skomer, Ramsey and Caldey.
Defending
the
Because of its exposed and strategic position, Pembrokeshire’s coastline
is peppered with various defences built over the centuries, from castles
and forts to gun batteries and airfields. Many still stand and are open to
visitors, offering a fascinating and atmospheric insight into times gone by.
Sea
Natural events, weather, tides, the changing
seasons and human impact all play a part in
altering the Pembrokeshire coastline. Some
change is gradual, while other changes can
be noticed almost immediately.
Left: Amroth
Below: West Angle Bay & Thorne Island
16
Further information is available on our website www.visitpembrokeshire.com

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is tracking
these changes with its interactive Changing Coasts
map and you can get involved. All along the coast
you will find fixed point photography posts. These can
be located by clicking on the camera icons that show
up on the map, which will give you information about
each point.
Each location has been selected to track significant
changes like dune and cliff erosion, flooding,
changing vegetation and sand levels, and changes to
pebble banks and stream courses. Share your photos
taken at one of these posts with the park authority
and they will add them to other shared images
to create time-lapse films to document the
changing coastline.
10 attractions
01 Oakwood is Wales’ only theme park with some world-class
white-knuckle rides, but has plenty to amuse younger children
too. The popular ‘After Dark’ evening openings throughout
August will also be returning for 2018.
02 The award-winning Folly Farm
is more than just a farm. It’s a zoo,
a vintage fun-fair, an adventure
playground and it’s open all year.
50% is under cover too. Two
rare black Rhinos have recently
joined the star attractions of Lions,
Giraffes and Penguins.
03 The Blue Lagoon is a brilliant indoor water park
with a wave machine, flume rides and a lazy river.
Regular ‘After Dark’ evening sessions are great fun
when all the waves, cannons and jets are on full
power! Next door is The Adventure Centre, a giant
countryside-themed indoor adventure play centre
and indoor high ropes course.
04 Anna Ryder-Richardson’s
Manor House Wildlife Park is
a zoo with a difference with
walk-through enclosures where
you can get up close to the
animals. Now open all year
round. Rhinos Zambo and Jambo
have now been joined by new
star attraction, Sumatran Tigress
Terima.
05 For a Monster day out, go to the
Dinosaur Park near Tenby. As well
as the Dinosaur trail, there are loads
of rides and activities included in the
admission price including an indoor
adventure playground, digging for
fossils and a giant bubble ride.
08 Become a Celtic
warrior for the day
at Castell Henllys
Iron Age Fort. Help
build a wattle and
daub wall, make
bread, throw a
spear and have your
face painted like an
Iron Age warrior!
07 The Dyfed Shire Horse Farm between
Newport and Cardigan is a working farm with
lots to see and do including horse-drawn cart
rides, play areas, nature walks and
demonstrations in the summer school holiday.
09 Pembroke Castle is great for exploring
and letting off a bit of steam: tunnels, towers,
battlements, and spiral staircases all over the
place. There’s even a haunted underground
cavern!
Making the Grade
A Guide to Quality Assurance
All the accommodation featured in this publication has been
independently assessed so you can make your choice in
confidence, knowing that each place to stay has been given
a rating according to the quality and facilities on offer. These
ratings mean that you can be sure of standards and choose the
accommodation that’s just right for you.
Visit Wales/AA are the only checking agents in Wales, checking
out over 5,000 places.
What do our star ratings mean?
Visit Wales STARS are evidence of quality. They range from one to five
stars and are a reliable indication of the services and facilities you can
expect in accommodation which includes hotels, guest houses, bed and
breakfast, farm accommodation, hostel/hostel type accommodation, selfcatering
cottages and apartments and caravan holiday home and touring/
camping parks.
Alternative Accommodation such as yurts, tipis and tree houses are also
checked to ensure that they meet minimum standards.
Cleanliness is the most crucial element of any assessment and
minimum standards, particularly at the higher star ratings reflect
consumer expectations.
All accommodation grades are based on a set of common quality
standards agreed by Visit Wales, Visit England, Visit Scotland, Tourism
Northern Ireland and the AA.
Does a lower star rating equal
less quality?
Many lower star rated accommodations may still offer high quality
but do not meet all of the facility and service expectations for the
higher star ratings. Is it particularly important not to compare Guest
Accommodation ratings against Hotel ratings as different criteria
are used when assessing. The advice is to always check with an
establishment before booking to check that the accommodation offers
the services and facilities that meet your needs – they will
only be too pleased to help.
Also look out for that extra-special property that has
been awarded Visit Wales’ Gold Award, given for
exceptional standards of hospitality, comfort and food
in serviced accommodation.
Occasionally, it has not been possible to visit
the accommodation prior to publication. In
these instances, the property is marked as
‘Awaiting Grading’.Some accommodation operators
have chosen not to be star rated, but they have
been checked out to ensure that they provide an
acceptable level of services and facilities appropriate
to their type of business. They are identified as
either ‘Verified’ or ‘Listed’.
Visitor Attractions
Look out for the Visit Wales Quality marque. This
only gets awarded to attractions that have been
independently assessed against the national
standards of the Visitor Attraction Quality
Assurance Scheme to ensure that all areas
important to your visit are of the best standard.
Accommodating visitors
with disabilities
All Visit Wales graded properties have an Access Statement.
This statement tells visitors in a clear, accurate and honest
way how the property can meet their particular needs. Three
symbols have been introduced to help visitors with physical
impairments find the Access Statements of most relevance to
them. Accommodation providers have selected the one symbol
which best describes the improvements that they have made to
their properties.
Access improved
for mobility
impaired people
Look out for these symbols:
The advice is to always check with an establishment before
booking to check that the accommodation offers the services and
facilities that meet your needs.
Please note:
All gradings and awards were correct at the time of going to
press. Occasionally, it may not have been possible to undertake
a grading. This situation is clearly identified by ‘Awaiting Grading’
appearing within the advertisement/entry.
Grading assessments are on-going and improvements made by
establishments may have resulted in a revision since publication.
Please check when booking.
Further information on gradings and awards is available from Visit
Any problems?
Access improved
for visually
Cyrraedd y Safon
Canllaw Sicrwydd Ansawdd
Mae pob llety sydd yn y cyhoeddiad hwn wedi cael ei asesu’n
annibynnol felly gallwch fod yn hyderus bod y llety rydych
wedi’i ddewis wedi cael ei raddio’n unol ag ansawdd y llety a’r
cyfleusterau sydd ar gael. Mae’r graddau’n golygu bod safon y
llety rydych chi wedi’i ddewis o’r safon uchaf ac yn ddelfrydol ar
eich cyfer chi.
Yr unig ddau gorff sy’n asesu lletyau Cymru yw Croeso Cymru a’r
AA; mae nhw’n asesu dros 5,000 o safleoedd.
Sut mae ein cynlluniau graddio ni yn gweithio?
Mae cynlluniau graddio SEREN Croeso Cymru yn dystiolaeth o ansawdd.
Maen nhw’n amrywio o un i bum seren ac yn ddangosydd dibynadwy
o’r gwasanaethau a’r cyfleusterau y gallwch chi eu disgwyl yn y llety
sy’n cynnwys gwestai, tai llety, gwely a brecwast, llety fferm, hosteli,
bythynnod a fflatiau hunanddarpar a pharciau gwyliau carafanau a
pharciau teithio/gwersylla.
Mae Lletyau Amgen fel iwrts, tipis a thai coed hefyd yn cael eu hasesu
er mwyn sicrhau eu bod yn bodloni’r safonau angenrheidiol.
Elfen bwysicaf unrhyw asesiad neu safonau gofynnol yw glanweithdra,
yn enwedig gan fod lletyau sêr uwch yn adlewyrchu disgwyliadau’r
defnyddiwr.
Mae pob gradd llety wedi cael ei seilio ar gyfres o safonau ansawdd
cyffredin y mae Croeso Cymru, Visit England, Visit Scotland, Twristiaeth
Gogledd Iwerddon a’r AA wedi cytuno arnynt.
A yw llety sydd â gradd seren is yn
golygu nad yw ei ansawdd cystal â
llety gradd seren uwch?
Mae llawer o letyau sydd â gradd seren is yn gallu cynnig llety o ansawdd
uchel i chi ond nid ydyn nhw’n bodloni’r holl ddisgwyliadau o ran
cyfleusterau a gwasanaethau’r gradd seren uwch. Mae’n bwysig peidio
â chymharu graddau Lletyau â graddau Gwestai gan fod y meini prawf
asesu yn wahanol.
Y peth gorau i’w wneud yw cysylltu â’r lleoliad
cyn archebu lle er mwyn gwneud yn siŵr y bydd
gwasanaethau a chyfleusterau’r llety’n bodloni’ch
anghenion chi – byddan nhw’n hapus iawn i’ch helpu.
Hefyd, cadwch lygad am y lletyau arbennig sydd
wedi cael Gwobr Aur Croeso Cymru am safonau eu
lletygarwch ac esmwythdra a bwyd o safon eithriadol
mewn llety â gwasanaeth.
Weithiau, nid yw’n bosibl asesu’r llety cyn i’r canllaw
gael ei gyhoeddi. Yn yr achosion hyn, byddwn yn rhoi
nodyn wrth y llety - ‘Yn cael ei raddio’n fuan’. Mae rhai
gweithredwyr lletyau wedi dewis peidio cael eu hasesu
ond mae gwiriadau wedi cael eu gwneud i sicrhau eu
bod yn darparu eu gwasanaethau a’u cyfleusterau yn
briodol. Maen nhw’n cael eu hadnabod fel ‘Wedi’i wirio’
neu ‘Wedi’i restru’.
Atyniadau i Ymwelwyr
Gwyliwch allan am Nod Ansawdd Croeso Cymru.
Rhoddir y nod hwn i atyniadau sydd wedi cael eu
hasesu’n annibynnol yn ôl safonau cenedlaethol y
Cynllun Sicrhau Ansawdd Atyniadau i Ymwelwyr
i sicrhau bod yr holl elfennau sy’n bwysig i chi o’r
safon uchaf.
Gwasanaethau i ymwelwyr
sydd ag anableddau
Mae gan bob eiddo sydd wedi cael ei raddio gan Croeso Cymru
Ddatganiad Mynediad sy’n datgan i ymwelwyr mewn ffordd glir,
gywir a gonest bod yr eiddo’n bodloni anghenion penodol yr
ymwelwyr. Mae tri symbol yn cael eu defnyddio i helpu ymwelwyr
sydd ag anableddau corfforol benderfynu pa Ddatganiad Mynediad
sydd fwyaf perthnasol iddyn nhw. Mae darparwyr lletyau wedi
dewis y symbol sy’n disgrifio orau’r gwelliannau y maen nhw wedi’u
gwneud i’w heiddo.
Mae’r llety’n addas
i bobl sydd â
phroblemau symudedd
Gwyliwch allan am y symbolau hyn:
Cysylltwch â’r llety cyn bwcio er mwyn i sicrhau bod y llety’n cynnig
y gwasanaethau a’r cyfleusterau sydd eu hangen arnoch.
Cofiwch:
Pan anfonwyd y canllaw hwn i’w argraffu, roedd pob gradd yn gywir.
Weithiau, nid yw’n bosibl asesu pob llety mewn pryd.
Fe nodir hyn yn glir pan fo’r nodyn ‘Yn cael ei asesu’n fuan’
wrth yr hysbyseb/cofnod.
Mae asesu lletyau’n ddigwyddiad parhaus; weithiau, bydd y llety
wedi gwneud gwelliannau ers i’r canllaw hwn gael ei gyhoeddi felly
cofiwch holi’r llety cyn bwcio.
Mae rhagor o wybodaeth ar asesu a gwobrau ar gael gan Croeso
