does matter Probably the first tip to make your hunt more fruitful is to keep things small. The bigger the body the more places there are for these sites SIZE to hide and the more space may be between each individual site. RADIUS: 400 or below Glide - METHODS OF SEARCH After exiting SuperCruise and upon entering Glide maintain a -8° - -12° angled descent towards the targeted search zone. At a height of around 20km a tiny pinpoint blue POI should appear. If one appears quickly pull up to exit Glide and begin searching the area where you noticed the POI appear, sometimes slightly ahead of or behind you. Normal - Choose a suitable location from Super or Orbital Cruise(Canyons, Splash Craters) and try to exit SC far enough ahead of you search location that you can glide from one edge of your search zone to the center, this should allow you to speed up the start of you search, once out of glide follow the path of your search zone, looking for signs of volcanism: Liquid Jets or Plumes of Smoke. Not all planets are equal. Make TYPE it easier for yourself: 1. Rocky 2. HMC 3. Rocky/Ice 4. Ice (In order of least dfficulty) ...is money TIME It takes time to find these guys but it shouldn't take a lifetime. When you find a suitable location spend 5 - 10 minutes tops exploring that area, then move on to the next possible location, staying no more than maybe an hour or 2 on any given planet. There are enough places out there it's not use getting stuck on just one.
