Construction of the New World Ferry Rd supermarket is almost complete and the recruitment process has begun. The store will open, next to the existing New World Ferry Rd, on September 7. Applications closed on Wednesday and owner Greg Boock said he hadn’t expected to receive so many. “I suddenly had to rejig my calendar,” he said. “The positive thing is to be able to bring new jobs into the community.” He had hired a recruitment company to help him work through the large number of applications. The 60-70 new jobs were additional to the 42 existing staff members who would be making the move from the existing supermarket into the new one. Mr Boock said management would be putting contracts in front of people during the next two weeks, starting with the butchers’ and bakers’ positions. There had been applications from all over the city.
